One of the best things about Hunter X Hunter is the unknown factors that creep in and subvert the narrative. Just like real life, unexpected factors can change the outcome of situations substantially. Kurapika's love for his comrades is what drives his vengeance, but in the end it also stopped him from continuing the cycle of hatred (for now...) Maybe the end of this arc will grow on you in the future, its not about the goal it's about the journey :)

He didn't enjoy hxh that much, his fav arc was this PT arc, but at the end of the arc he said '' well another arc ended with minimal combat''. once you go in with that mindset, you are bound to be let down even a little. some people just watch some anime in anticipation of big battles, so what hxh achieve wonderfully can go above their heads. Heisuten and Ching was hype throughout the entirety of this arc whether there was a battle or not and I think they are aware that is what makes hxh great in its core. battles are just icing on the cake.

She was going to trade Gon and Killua for Chrollo, and came back empty handed, so they could assume that she is being controlled by Kurapika, and when she asked "Do you trust me?" if she was controlled, she would have killed 6 members.
For me it ended amazing, unique and masterpiece! Its not all about sluttering, killin sht its so perfect for me to end this arc! but the current arc on manga which is still on hiatus is so lit.

Though in this Arc they were pretty much in the center of the action, while in the next 2 they are more separated, things still happen and influence events. While watching the next Arc keep in mind this was written in 1998-99, so literally anything it reminds you of was influenced by it and not the other way around
Many people didn't realise but Neon's fortune is used mainly to avoid unfavourable ones. We have been given several examples on how Crime bosses avoided first auction massacre (in which red-haired girl died) because Neon predicted that for them before. So, initially, half spiders would have been killed if they didn't read Neon's fortune. However, everything started to change after Chrollo made Neon write his fortune and decided to avoid it. If Chrollo's plan was implemented, the whole confrontation would not have happened. But that's when Hisoka chose to take his own actions based on Neon's spider fortune. On top of that, he wrote a fake fortune and fooled spiders to act on it to even further the reversal. So any prediction about 6 spiders dying was long lost. Regarding ending the arc with a bang, I guess HxH is never going to give you typical shounen type fights. Good or bad, people shouldn't judge anyone for finding it a bit disappointing. But that's how the show is. It makes it up for it with excellent writing and plot twists. So, it's more sort of AoT and Death Note like writing mixed with Naruto setting (even though HxH precedes all these shows). But that's not to say it does not have big/flashy fights. Just don't expect the show to follow any fixed formula all the time. Try to enjoy what show has to offer, not what years of watching Naruto, Bleach and DBZ made you expect of a show. That is perhaps the best advice to watch HxH. PS: And for the sake of your own surprise, don't get too much into comments. HxH fandom's recent boom has made fans a bit elitist and prone to overhype certain moments, which are best left to come to you rather than you wait for them. You will find people propping up some episode as "Greatest or Best " in anime history, but it will most likely not be what you were expecting. That sometimes can bum people out. However, going along with the plot and watching it as the show ease you into it will make it much more enjoyable. Treat comment section for HxH almost with the same grace as that of AoT, even though there is no great mystery lingering here
This anticlimactic ending is for the best. No BS random powerup for Gon Killua and Leorio just to keep up with the troupe. And notice it isnt only Kuroro's abilities that weren't shown much, but you guys haven't even seen what Feitan, Phinx, Belenov, and Shalnark can really do with their nen. Also an all out battle to end arcs is as cliche as you can get. This was really refreshing and unique to see things ending this way. Even in the OG 99' anime, us fans were satisfied w/ this ending not knowing if the series was ever going to continue, as it was realistic and Pakunoda's sacrifice was wholesome for a band of cold thieves, plus Kuroro leaving towards the unknown adds an air of open ended mystery that ran our imaginations wild as a kid watching the OG anime.
HxH's more about the characters than the action, despite having maaany badass action sequences. Some of the best you have yet to see too. I think after having seen it so many times, I've come to love each arc equally, and all for different reasons. Each arc explores different concepts, and they're all sort of contained in that bubble of character growth that follows Gon and Killua. Master storytelling. 👌 Never gets old (hard to say that today!).

Hisoka , Killua and Kurapika are the best fleshed out characters in the show. The spiders are cool and all but we only learned their personality we dont know each of their goals and motivation, what drives them to be thieves and killers.
dont worry guys.. there is a purpose why york new city arc was settled this way.. phantom troupe was never done they will be part of the nxt arc greed island until the last one.. the subtleness of this one is to prepare you for a much darker and battle war on the penultimate arc which is the darkest one the Chimera ant arc after greed island arc

Youre not a main character in ur world, youre one of 7 billion, the universe doesnt work your way, nor does fate operate in ur favor, its the same thing here, kurapika (despite being the "good guy") couldnt defeat the spiders (the "bad guys"), and their bond was able to somewhat stop him... basically he does not have plot armor (or any advantage and special treatment in how life goes, unlike most MCs).

Hunter X Hunter isn't about hype battles with fluid animation. Thought this was common knowledge at this point. There are more slow episodes than action-heavy ones that's for sure. So your expectations should be tuned accordingly.

At first i kinda felt the same i wanted kurapika to fight more with the spiders but i ended with a kida dissapointed feeling. But everytime i watched it again and again the more i understood why it went this route. And i can say i understand and im happy the way it is
