Dude thank you so much for this!!!! I just restored my Traeger my dad gave me. It’s about 10 years old and was rusted and busted. Grinded it down & painted it to make it look new. Bought a new hot rod & main fan for it. Plugged it in & got this error message. Thanks again for the video!
Not sure what happened to mine, but one of the two sensor’s cables was flat out sheered. It’s like a rodent or something got to it (makes me think I need a bottom cover for the control box during the winter months). Fortunately, I had some small crimps lying around so I could use it for now.
Awesome info! Neighbor threw away his traeger cause it had the “err” message on display. Thank you this video I found the issue was one of the wires u mention was frayed in half. Good as new now! 5 minutes of work I have a free traeger!
I have a pit boss, and this did not work on my grill. However it is the same board. On mine it was a spider nest on the board. Cleaned it of the board and it worked fine. Don’t take much to cause trouble on that board.
Awesome - thought I needed a new temp sensor as in addition to the occasional "err" I was getting errant temp readings such as 275F when it was 50F outside when first starting . By the way Mr. Ken, I'll pay the shipping if you want to send me your ruined Traeger. Mine is about 10 years old and I LOVE IT!
That's great news, except Traeger put the bottom screw in so tight that I can't back it out without stripping the screw slots. Thanks, Traeger, for an $800 piece of scrap metal that is only six months old and used about dozen times.
@@stephenveerasammy3074 check the wire from the controller to the probe. When I went in there to replace the controller and began unplugging wire harness connectors, I discovered a connector that mates a wire pair from the temp probe and the wire pair that connects to the controller was not connected. I plugged the two ends together and lo and behold my grill is working. I can only speculate that it left the manufacturer that way. No telling how many grills were shipped out with that connector not connected.

It worked!!! Thank you very much for taking a moment to post this! It worked for my Traeger model BBQ070.

Nice. Did you give it back or kept it?

Wow a spider web... I wonder if possible without creating a problem to silicone it to help protect it from the elements.

Have you tried to take a scrubbing pad and clean the RTD probe. Sometimes if they are not shinny they will give false readings.
Your video just saved my dinner plans! Thank you!
You’re welcome

Sorry to hear that. Better call them if still under warranty. They will help you as customer service has gotten better.

Make sure you just turn it off and on first and see if that fixes it
Thanks! Grillin and chillin again!
Thanks for the video man! Problem solved!
Thanks! You saved my pulled pork!
Glad to hear that..
What if it shows err and it won’t fire up
Have you checked to see if your hot rod glows at all. I had to replace my hot rod. I got mine from smoke daddy
Does that also apply to pit boss smokers?
Good question, Im sure it would if the board also has these 2 screws for the RTD probe
I was just advised that yes this is the same scenario on the pit boss and possibly even the rec tec
Crazy Dave's Kitchen thanks very much! I really appreciate the follow up!
Yes! This just saved my Pit Boss smoker. Both of those wires had fallen out. I reconnected them and am up and running. Thanks!!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Will this work for ERO1 error?
I think so, always check the board for loose wires.
I replaced the hot rod, It DIDNT fix the code, grill still shows ERR
Check the connections, it’s not the hot rob but your temp probe wires.
Thanks Man !!!
Thank you
Didn't work. Still shows er1
Me too. Mine is brand new out of the box, hasn't been used yet
Wow sorry could be a bad probe
