Wow! I have some of these Hindu Backs, these cards are amazing. I loved baseball more than my cards but, as I grew older now 62, I became a fan more toward these cards. I remember going to Shea Stadium back in the 60's to watch my favorite Mets with my uncle. He is the one that got me started in baseball and, card collecting: I probably have about every ERA in baseball cards, specialty cards just like these Hindu Backs, some red background older Bowman, Bazooka, and, 2024 collections. Anyone that know about baseball, they tore down Shea Stadium, a big memory for me as a youngster, even enjoyed the big subway series against the Yankees. It's now called Tinker Field, imagine that?😪 My memories will always remain though. This is a very special story, thank you both for putting this together! I never see a story about true players that were actually hated by fans, even teammates or managers that really hated them? I can give you one that I not only hated and, he was extremely popular, even his own team could not figure him out. My most hated player was the great Mickey Mantle, even his teammates and, the press had a hard time trying to figure him out, he had a quite unusual personality. Even Roger Maris was asked what he thought about Mickey Mantle?....... He replied: I just don't because he had a different personality. This is a true story, don't beleive me? It's a fact, the press could never figure him out: How about that?

That’s a great question…I suspect it had to do with that specific type of Hindu brand of cigarettes. The Red’s are even tougher than the Brown backs!

I was expecting a much higher dollar amount. But the seller was happy with his fifty grand, and that's what matters. Heck, it might cost fifty grand to grade the best stuff, with the way PSA upcharges on valuable cards.

Once there are graded and slabbed. This collection will be worth a ton and they will continue to grow in value. I'd take em to auction slabbed. Get into a bidding war with rich collectios. Who cares who get them.

Obviously condition is everything but I think you were a bit harsh on what you think the T206 would grade for. Some of those cards were better than 1 and 2. But everyone has an opinion. Either way cool stuff. Nice find.

Christie Mathewson authentic? I don’t know, I’m not holding the card but looked a lot better.

Unless there were creases, which were not apparent, that Matty portrait has terrific centering, colors and corners: a PSA 3 or 4 all day. PSA Authentic? No way. T206 green and red Cobbs, even in rough shape, are bringing big bucks nowadays. The 53 Bowman Color and 56 Topps Mantle also looked decent. 70%?? More like 30%.

Its disingenuous to say that value is not a primary interest. If that were truly the case, then this content would not even exist today. If these cards remained worthless, nobody would be paying any attention to it, regardless of how great the player was in their day.
