No…. I absolutely adore that they gave her a Victorian silhouette. And all the gorgeous petticoat layers! It made it look like she was floating on clouds. And the way the dress moved when she danced and when she run! A mermaid cut dress never would’ve had that fairytale magic. It also would’ve looked way too modern in that 18th century/mid Victorian aesthetic the movie has.

She would have looked much better in a mermaid dress. That blue dress was so wide, too much dress. You could hardly tell she had a figure.

@@stefannydvorak7919 In an interview she commented about how challenging it was to try to dance in all that dress or walk down the stairs in it.
Besides, it seems fitting for a potential princess to be wearing a princess-style gown. (There's a reason for the name of that particular style.)
