I love the storytelling that they do in this movie. When he died and it thundered and John was so devastated that he didn’t even care about the thunder, that was good storytelling. Emotional scene.

Another movie where he purposely sings badly that you should definitely check out sometime is “Boogie Nights”. It’s kind of dirty too, but in a different way. You mentioned Family Guy and that cartoon (and the Simpsons) rely heavily on jokes gleaned from popular culture, especially movies. I'd say it's not something you'd need to react to, but if you have half an hour and want to watch something light that will make you laugh, sit down and actually watch an episode of either the Simpsons or The Family Guy. You'll be able to catch so many more subtle riffs off of classics and straight up parodies than you would've before your cinematic journey began. I'm a HUGE Seth MacFarlane fan. He's a great writer/producer. Check out some of his cartoons. Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show. Also, Ted 2 is great and he also has a show called The Orville.

If I could recommend anything from seth macfarlane it would be the show the orville. It is probably his greatest show. It's incredibly well written
