- This video is a closer look at George Mason’s line of Birmingham Roller pigeons. I visited him again to have a chat and videoed his pigeon loft whilst he is in breeding season. I also got footage of some of his young bird teams and some Les Bezance birds he had.

He’s got some great birds just fly low due to he’s got a farm I believe sometimes do hit roofs but they preform great my mate bought a lot of his and paul greens I believe mixing the two gave the higher flight but do love his birds never seem to disappoint.

The Boise convention that George was talking about was the PRA Fly & Display. I think it was Memorial Day Weekend of 1990. It was held in conjunction with the NW International Fly which that year had just expanded to include Idaho and would eventually grow into the World Cup as other regions wanted to take part. At the time it was the biggest roller fly there was. I think the panel member that George doesn't recall the name of was Dale Husbands who came up from Utah with Paul Bradford. Dick DeBoer won the Idaho leg of the fly - a nice kit with 4 or 5 really stand out Dark Checks that were really as fast and sound as you would hope to see. He got 4th or 5th in the entire NW International Fly. A couple people went back and saw them a second time and said they were even better a few days later. The whole event was well attended. Good times. Thirty some years in the past now. Time sure flies.
Being from Idaho i remember those days. I was new to the sport. To be that young again.

Nice video. Does your pigeon feed come as a readymade mix or do you have to buy all the different seeds and then you have to mix them together? Also how much do you give each bird, do you use the tablespoon method?

@@doublearollers nope I dont.. jus tryn to get a good pair of birds to start my program. Got my breeding loft built, and my kit box.... just cant seem to find anyone willing to give the new guy a hand. Never thought it would be this hard to get a few pair of good birds.

@@derrickrobinson4519 my advice would be to try and find your local roller club or go on the fly’s. You’ll get to see some birds in the air and meet fanciers. If there’s anything you like in the air then ask the fancier to breed you some or for a few birds.
@@derrickrobinson4519 it won’t be easy getting a few good pairs at the moment as most will be breeding from them. Also, it’s very rare for someone to give away their stock birds. There’s an auction on in Derby soon where there’ll be young birds to go from a lot of the top flyers.
