One of my favourite episodes. And I know Danny was out of it after he got exposed, but Steve clearly cares about more than himself. Steve and Danny have one of my favourite bromances ever.

Its a navy seal thing super over protective of anyone around them. Its also a brotherhood thing too which is a seal thing too meaning they put their own lives at risk before their brothers.
He is also is the leader and leaders put their lives at risk before the those under their command.
This is why steve jumped in after the cure and why Jr jumped in when steve was in trouble.
