Hi, it's great to see you. I love your podcasts. The signature needles ? I purchased some from Premier. Knitting needles plus crochet hooks, I love them. Very pleasurable to use. My new drop spindle came from Wookery along with some brown leister wool. I was going to do a sheep to shawl. My hands and arthritis are giving me problems so I'm using my stash. So spinning wool has paused ...for now. The whips I have are maybe 15 of them. My hood is almost done, I just heard you say Merino and tussa silk oh my, I have some wool of merino and silk in white to be spun. I LOVE Merino ! I love the greenish hat you are working on. Soft? Oh my gosh love it!! I knit a hat with yarn that will knit a fair isle pattern. It's from Red Heart I think, it's a pink, light gray and off white color. I put a strand of pink mohair with it. My umbrella swift it's blue from Amazon clamps to a table. I like it. How many whips have I finished? 2 I finished 2 out of 15. Have a blessed day. Love ya bunches. Happy knitting 😉❤
Hi Karen, Happy to see you looking so good. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers regarding your health issues. I have finished 2 baby afghans and a shawl (LaLa shawl)so far this year using yarn from my stash! Working on a hat now! Truly enjoy all your podcasts! I would be interested in the shawl for your knit a long! Happy Knitting!
Karen, funny story you are not the last one to cast on the Musselburgh! So mine is so old I can’t remember when I started it! I haven’t finished anything this year yet but today may be the day! Had to cast on a baby blanket about three weeks ago as the baby came early! But in all honesty I can’t wait to finish this! I need something else to knit and keep me busy. Lots of Dr. appts here too! And the other thing I was supposed to do was get all my WIPS as it is Finish It or Frog It! Maybe today . . .
7 WIPS finished so far with many to go. I have frogged 1 project as it was not bringing me Joy. You have really made me think about the stash this year. I probably have as much as you do so using it instead of hoarding it is making me so happy. Thanks for all the encouragment to do so, it is alot of fun.
My knitting plans right now are to knit a row a day on both my granny stripe blanket (Full size bed) and a knitted moss stitch blanket (Queen size bed). I also am doing a 4 row repeat on my Zixk Zack scarf every day. Those three are all long terms wips and should be done throughout the year. I have finished a pair of worsted Felici socks and my Autumn League Pullover both wips from 2023 and stash down. I am working on a pair of Snowy Cottage socks also a wip from 2023. This is my monogamous knitting. LOL. So far I've avoided straying from these plans.
Another great podcast Karen. I'm still knitting on my Birch Pullover but taking a bit of a break and knit a washcloth/dishcloth and working on a pair of WIP socks. Take care.
I think a prize should be the goat! The Musselburgh pronunciation had me laughing so hard my husband asked if I was OK. And I've finished 2 WIPS so far.
Another enjoyable "watch-while-you-knit' podcast. I'm working on a LOSY (Left Over Sock Yarn) hat -- basically, 2 strands of fingering held together, 112 sts and a K3, p1 ribbed pattern. Yes -- stash knitting at its finest. Congrats on the pullover -- it looks lovely. As for socks -- i've been knitting them for over 50 years and am firmly in the DPNs, cuff-down, Dutch heel flap camp. But I hope yours turn out well too! And then there's the Musselburgh (read my lips: "mussel-burrow"). *I've not knit one. Don't plan to knit one*. I've enough hat patterns to choke a horse and don't need to pay for another, simply because it's trendy. 'nuff said. Have fun with yours! P.S. the white room is a great backdrop for all your colourful yarn. :-) Hugs from central Alberta, Canada, where 60 F is spring weather.
I've completed 13 projects so far this year, 9 of them started prior to this year. All of them are using stash. Mostly as most of them have been older cast ons lol. But I have also been making a conscious effort to dig into old stash for my new cast ons. So far I'm doing well. I'm running out of projects started prior to this year, which is great. Although of the few I have left, some are long term projects which won't get finished as quickly. I love how the Providence yarn looks in your finished top/sweater. It's lovely. I love the shade too. I think shorter sleeves work well with its lighter fabric too. I don't like sleeves falling into dishwater when I'm busy washing up too lol. I don't mind mismatched pairs of socks myself. I have a preference to making a fraternal pair if it means less yarn waste. The colours on the peg board make it the perfect wall art. I love it. The Wisdom of the Moon shawl is a free pattern on Ravelry. I want to make it, so I'm in. Seeing others making it will inspire me to finally get in on my needles and do it. I haven't knit a Musselborough hat. I guess it's because I'm not much of a hat knitter. When I do make a hat I just freelance one. I know I'd make at least one if I had the pattern but I'm not inclined to buy hat patterns given I prefer to knit other things and have made so many hats on the fly I just stick to doing that.
I'm currently obsessed with making crochet quarter holder keyring things. That's all I've finished the last month. I've started and frogged several things this month but just don't have the heart for it. I love the idea of the 2 color musselburgh hat. Maybe a picot at the color change?
Great to catch you earlier rather than later. Our health is a problem here, well more my husbands, so I feel for you. Spent all day at a&e with him yesterday - again 🙄. And I had no knitting that was functional to take with me! I’m trying to be monogamous this year which I’m quite enjoying. But I’ve only finished 1 wip this year but there is another one that is very nearly done 🙌😘
Hey Karen so happy to see you❤. I do finished a scrap knit blanket and a pair of sickrs, so many wips to go! I haven't done the musselborough..spelling..ugh, but I think it will be an amazing gift for your friend to use on her trip. I love the color you chose but if she has a favorite color, yeah switch it up😊. Hope your appts go well friend❤
Hello, Karen. Was so glad to see you looking so well and then you mentioned all your doctor appointments. Hope you are getting answers to whatever is going on. Love the peg board of yarn behind you.😊❤🧶
Almost done 1 hat for my daughter! Love the pegboard as well as many others. The hat mostly matches a poncho and cowl I made her earlier this year. She's very knitworthy for sure. Hahahaha! Yes, every body part has a doctor. It's rough sometimes getting older, but we will keep putting one foot in front of the other. I am working on Nerdy Knitting's class for fitting a raglan sweater. She's about to do a yoke sweater to learn for fitting. Very very helpful!
Hi Karen, love that shawl. I can’t make knitting plans - as soon as I do I feel obliged and no longer want to make it !! Says a lot about my personality I think 😂 I’ve always got plain knitting on the go, usually a sock and a plain jumper and then I will sometimes decide to try a more complicated pattern and sometimes it gets finished and occasionally I start a crochet project a blanket or shawl but rarely follow a pattern. At the moment we’re getting ready for a few days in Belgium so I shall take socks. Take care Penny xx
Hi Karen, tell your friend that we live in Maine, went on a cruise to Norway 2 years ago in July, and even tho we brought sensible warm wool to wear, we were COLD! Also, you don't need to clamp the swift onto a table, sometimes I clamp mine onto the edge of a door, or even the back of a chair. It sticks out horizontally, but that works just fine and dandy! Thanks for your podcast, and keep well.
Just one (almost) FO - once I've sewn a button onto it, I'll be entering it into the MAL. You are not the last person to the party - I have not made a Musselburgh hat (and although I'm not Scottish, I would pronounce it "burra" - like the Boroughs of New York, or like Edinburgh). Hope the doctors' appointments go well. Thanks and take care xx
0kay ❤ I finished 3 wips from 2023 and Frogged 1 ! Yes i picked up the shawl pattern, just have to go through stash and see what i have. Its a free pattern. If your Lykke swift is sh÷t, maybe make one from plastic coat hangers lol, mine works amazing! Hope your doctors appts go well and Luke is good too. I hear you, never seen so many specialists and now I have a team... lol take care sweetie 😊 xx
Maybe I am the only monogamous knitter! I am knitting a shawl …… two strands …… fingering and kidsilk haze. A relaxing pattern with stash yarn. It’s so nice to ‘click my needles’ and listen to your podcasts. Your smile and sense of humor makes me feel like we are friends…… take care….. come back to visit soon!
@@recreationalknittingpodcast Pulp Culture by Laura Dobratz for the shawl. I posted pic on your group for stash …….. Laura owns Four Purls in Winter Haven. I have not been there yet, would love to see the shop. Have a good weekend …… we are home for Super Bowl, too. Thats’s ok…. I can knit!
I just finished a hat that I started last winter. I have two spring/summer tops on the needles that I would like to get finished before spring gets here. Thankfully spring is later the further north one goes. I love your podcast!
I had news of a new baby coming in the family. I had to purchase yarn and I knitted Penny Straker's Andy sweater, so that took up alot of my WIP knitting and Stash knitting. However, since Jan 1 I have completed 2 pairs of baby socks (from stash) 1 Red Scarf Project scarf from stash, 1 Hill 60 Hat from stash, it was also a WIP. I finished a pair of Vanilla sock from stash and a WIP. and one pair of Point Edwards Mitts. Good bye-stash and wips. So WIPBGONE total is 3 Stash total is 5 items. I am not a monogamous knitter, but my current WIP's take priority.
hi karen lovely to see you i must say you are looking well hope your feeling better than you were . I love watching your podcasts and listening to you beautiful lady x take care
Welcome! Excellent finishes. Make sure you enter them on ravelry so you can be entered to win prizes. If you need help with that let me know. Doll clothes… my neighbor used to make me knitted doll clothes for my baby dolls. Such love.
I haven't finished any of the had 3 wips leftover from 2023. They were a pi shawl, a Mussleburgh hats, and a scrappy Habitation throw using my fingering scraps. I have been knitting on my shawl every day this year. I am on the border section with 874 stitches and then I have to knit an icord border. I am almost ready to knit the final decreases on the Mussleburgh hat.
I'm a little late leaving a comment here. So very good to see you looking so good Karen! I keep you always in my thoughts and prayers. That Wisdom of the Moon looks interesting. I don't really have any yarn in my stash for this but I'll take a look and we shall see! Might have to give it a try. Just love all the socks you knit. I'm still not finished with my first pair but I'll get there yet! I don't have enough time for knitting these days. Love your Musselburgh (mussel burra) and the color you chose - just lovely! So sorry your swift was a piece of shite. I haven't finished any wips this year. I'm trying to decide if I want to frog a sweater I'm almost finished with or not. While I'm deciding I cast on Cloud Sweater by Petite Knit. We'll see how that one goes. I'm so sorry to hear about your woes with painters. I hope all the doctor visits go well. So glad to hear you are knitting with joy. The Superbowl game last weekend was AMAZING! Enjoyed the heck out of it. Hope you got your socks done. Looking forward to your list of podcasters! Take, care, be well and peace! ☮🕊
Thank you. The first half was boring so I started doing some things and missed some of the excitement. The end was amazing. Take care. Let’s all find time for joyous knitting this week!
Am going through my stash(4 skeins so far). Finished Toby the tricyclops. I am working on my very long scarf. It’s amazing looking and the fabric the yarn creates is much better than I thought it would be. I am wondering if you could add meters and grams as I can’t picture amounts in the imperial measurement. Happy knitting.
My plans.. lower the stash and have fewer wips. Also i have a sweater i cast on in 2022 that i do not want to bring into 2025. I have 3 wips and 3 ready to cast on (swatched, needles and yarn ready in a bag) I finished 4 things so far. A sweater with 700 grams of lettlopi. A scarf with 150 grams of fingering weight. A pair of socks that was 85 grams and another pair that was 62 grams. And i won 100 grams of fingering. And i bought 500 grams of fingering and 400 grams of cobweb to dye.
You will love it. Mine is currently 3/4 finished. Doctor appointment on Monday so more progress to come! I have two of your podcasts to catch up on. Time….
I've knit 4 musselburghs and have 2 on the needles (one is my car project in case I have to wait somewhere. They are great. Otherwise, trying to finish a linen tee then hopefully a sweater that needs 1 1/2 sleeves by the end of the month!
Hello, 1st time seeing you. Just what I needed, enjoying the fact we are both doing a musdleburough hat, as you see I cannot spell it or pronounce it correctly, but enjoying the process. I have no f/o as yet this year .
Just to say that I cast on a Musselburgh this afternoon. I was a bit intimidated by the cast on but thanks to youtube and Knitty Natty, it went ok. I think I'm going to do 2 colours as I love the contrast on the brim. There are so many interesting ideas in the 20k+ projects on Ravelry. I can see more Musselburghs in the future helping to use up my stash. Like you, I totally get it. I love your new sweater. What a pity the wool has been discontinued.
Hi Karen!! Good job working through your WIPs!! I have finished 4 WIPs and it feels great!! And I have not bought any yarn this year-woo hoo!! Best of luck with all of the doctors appointments.😊
Wonderful! That is really working hard! I wish I had more time for knitting , more energy and less doctors. Hope you are well. Likely you’re knee deep in your dad’s estate. Take care of yourself. It’s hard to become an orphan. 💕💕💕
Mussel burgh is pronounced the same way as Edinburgh....you made me laugh. I've finished 2 wips as of today. One of my 6 wips is a Musselburh and lm waiting for 12" circulars to come in the post. They're an investment as l plan to knit ma y more Musselburghs. I'm not sure about the kal shawl as it would mean pulling in colourwork...jury's out.
Hey, you are in the middle of a stressful move. Hopefully things are working out. If not, they really do need to replace that carpet with Jim’s health.
Hello Karen. Just a question about the wipbgone mal. Is it only for wips from pre 2024? As this year is already half way through Feb, more wips happen. So do they count? As for non yarn prizes, a pattern prize could be an alternative. I count my progress in grams. I really like that board behind you with all the coloured yarn cakes... so pretty
The prizes are only for pre 2024 cast ons. But you are still working on stash and finishing projects. My new cast ons aren’t counting but the point is finishing what we love and brings joy. I was thinking patterns as well, as we all seem to have a list of those as well.
Nope, you’re not the last! I have not made a Musselburgh hat, nor have I made the Ranunculus. However, I don’t plan on making either one. I have no interest.
No worries. I just made a ranunculus to see if it was worth the hype. I see why. It’s a great pattern but if I make it again, I’ll do it without lace. You do you! I like my time tested patterns more than jumping on the next pretty pattern at this point.
I have finished my first colour work! And it wasn't hard. An owl cowl pattern by @nerdyknitting . I also finished a shawl - I went terribly wrong and it is the oddest shape. It is a good thing I enjoy knitting because I have very few successes. And I have some socks waiting, and a couple of crochet blankets on the go. And I just bought two cross stitch kits from a thrift store. I thought why not? I am easily entertained for $3. You always make me smile! Thank you and joyful knitting.
❤
I have 2 WIP’s. 1 crochet and 1 knit. I’m hoping to get the crochet blanket done soon.
I haven’t knit a Musselburgh yet!
The wisdom of the moon shawl is gorgeous I would love a knit along doing it.
I love my swift from Knit Picks
Hi Karen, Happy to see you looking so good. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers regarding your health issues.
I have finished 2 baby afghans and a shawl (LaLa shawl)so far this year using yarn from my stash! Working on a hat now! Truly enjoy all your podcasts! I would be interested in the shawl for your knit a long! Happy Knitting!

Thanks for sharing today! I enjoyed spending time with you.❤
I'm so glad! Have a great week of knitting!
I used up over 1900g of yarn in January, still have a long way to go clearing my stash but this is a good start
Wonderful!

Thanks for sharing!! Great idea about the picot edge. Just not sure how to maneuver it with this pattern.
Great to catch you earlier rather than later. Our health is a problem here, well more my husbands, so I feel for you. Spent all day at a&e with him yesterday - again 🙄. I’ve completed 2 sweaters, 3 pairs of socks.
I finished 9 projects so far this year!
I just cast in a Musselburgh hat. I am traveling and it is my airport knitting.

Karen, I just downloaded the shawl pattern. Looking through my stash.
My plans.. lower the stash and have fewer wips. Also i have a sweater i cast on in 2022 that i do not want to bring into 2025.
I have 3 wips and 3 ready to cast on (swatched, needles and yarn ready in a bag)
I finished 4 things so far.
Great job! Thats a lot of fos and grams going out! 💕💕
Loving all your makes lovely to watch you, it seems my work is spilling over in to my home life so not much time for knitting but I do try take care x
Work. Ugh. I worked in education for forty years and so I know the work home dilemma.
Seems the workload increase far more rapidly than the pay. 😢💙
You might be the second last person to begin a Musselburgh. I have bought the pattern but have not yet begun knitting it!
You are busy! Good job. You can whip out those sleeves in a few nights.
Hello, 1st time seeing you. Just what I needed, enjoying the fact we are both doing a musdleburough hat, as you see I cannot spell it or pronounce it correctly, but enjoying the process. I have no f/o as yet this year .
Welcome aboard! Glad to have you in our little community. Jump right in to all the stash busting if you want. 💕
Great job! We’ve jumped on the Musselbourgh train!
Price ideas.. your favorite patterns as a gift in Ravelry, notions you can not do without (buying and shipping in the country of the receiver).
Good ideas. I was thinking a gift certificate from favorite LYS.
That is a great one as well. (I was thinking about how customs and vat in Europe make anything crazy expensive,as well as crazy mailingcosts)
Hi, I would love to make the shawl with you.
Great! The pattern is free. Go dig up four skeins that will be gorgeous together. I keep seeing this in fall colors.
@@recreationalknittingpodcast Karen, I think you might be thinking of someone else. My father is still living!
Karen, I think the shawl is beautiful, but I'm not so sure that I want the floats to be seen when worn. I'd prefer them on the inside.
Hello friend, not sure if I finished anything so going with zero.
Sorry about the painter issues
You said Musselburgh right it’s a town outside Edinburgh in Scotland that has a racecourse
Which time?😂😂😂💕💕💕
Nope, you’re not the last!
@@recreationalknittingpodcast LOL, yup, I will do me and I will not knit the Ranunculus either 🤣
Musselburgh is pronounced like Edinburgh
Which can be pronounced a few ways here down south. 😂😂😂
I trip over it all the time too!! 😆 🤣
Great job!
I’ve completed 2 sweaters, 3 pairs of socks.
