I believe that Kaiser Karl and Kaiserin Zita were the noblest as well as the holiest rulers to emerge from the Habsburg family. I pray for their holy intercession each day. This couple will one day be canonised to the glory of the Roman Catholic Church.

Bei seiner Hochzeit war Karl nicht der Kaiser und noch nicht einmal der künftige Thronfolger,denn der anwesende Franz Ferdinand lebte ja noch.Leider hatten weder Karl,noch Zita die Größe,auf den Thron zu verzichten,denn das Ende der Doppelmonarchie war nach dem Tod Franz Josephs längst besiegelt.

Empress Zita told in her Autobiographie that she never believed during the Wedding that she become empress. Karl appears to have been the rare HUMAN at the time to sacrifice himself ( and dear family ) to reason a way to end the slaughter going on unnessarily-------- he and his family ' payed their price ' and history and time are now realizing his great sacrifice !!!!!
Do you truly believe that? I don't see any sacrifice in all of that. He refused to abdicate and refused to accept the democratic changes in Europe. What kind of sacrifice can you see there? I understand that his life was tragic because he was brought up in different values and then suddenly his position and his profits were taken away fron him and the dynasty ruling for hundreds of years whose heir he was had to say goodbye to the old ways. But what kind of sacrifice was that? None. If there was a sacrifice - he sacrificed himself for his ideals. And it may be noble, but it wasn't for Europe or for his country...
Felt a little sorry for Archduke Franz Ferdinand he seemed a little left out but quite friendly as he touched the bouquet not at all like the anti social unsmiling dour character he is so often portrayed
