When I went to claim it, I was shocked to only get $560 and the rest was fot taxes. When I told the person working at the claims office that I live in Norway and paying taxes on lottery winnings is unheard of she didn't believe me. Plus I was shocked that I had to pay 30% in taxes on it. But my mom knew that it I was in Norway I would have gotten to keep the whole $800 so she gave me the $260 that they took in taxes.

Congrats on that big win! To bad you have to pay taxes on it. I live in Norway and here in Europe, at least in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, you pay no taxes on lottery wins. So if you had won that over here, all that money would go in your pocket and none to the taxman. So whenever I hear if you Americans that win big in the lottery I'm both happy and sad for you. Happy that you won but sad that you have to pay the taxman som of your winnings.
My dad hit 25k yesterday and as i went to go see it I bought myself a 10 dollar ticket and won $200!
