    Hi!
    Could you expand upon why you don't recommend a re-biopsy of an embryo with a "no result" pgt-a test result? This is a point that is hard to find info on !
    Thank you! 🥚🤔

      Kristi R it really depends on the quality of the embryo and why you’re doing PGT in the first place. If you were my patient and if it was a really good quality embryo then I would consider it. If the quality was lower then I wouldn’t.

      @@EggWhisperer Thank you for your response! I am doing pgt because of age, 41.5. The embryos appearance wise are good quality. One is 4AA and the other is also an A, I believe, although in that case, it was frozen at day 3, in a bit of a mix up. The proposal for the day 3 is to thaw it, culture it to day 5, biopsy it, then refreeze it. This is my first round of ivf after 6 failed iui and a fibroid surgery, that left some fibroids behind. It's been a wild year!
      Thank you so much for all you do and the lovely energy you do it with!

      Kristi R in that case I would consider you being ready to transfer it just in case. If you were a patient of mine I would have you on meds and ready in case for example it thawed but didn’t look so good. Putting it in may still give you a chance for a pregnancy. You can also thaw it and if it survives and grows well but on day 5 doesn’t look as good as you had hoped ie isn’t fabulous you may want to transfer it and not put it through a biopsy another freeze and another thaw.

    Thank you. You just validated my decision and made me feel so positive about what’s coming ahead! We did PGT testing and I’m so glad I did! Our transfer is coming up in March. 😅

    Thank you for this video. My wife and I (33F and 35M) decided to do PGT after our conventional IVF had a near total failure after harvesting 20 eggs (only 2 fertilized; got a 3BA and 2AB out of that). Our clinic did a rescue ICSI on the remaining 18 eggs and we got 8 more blasts out of it (2x 2AA, 4x 3AA, 1x4AA, 1x5AA). Our doctor said what happened to us is a complete miracle, and that since we're in uncharted territory that we should get PGT-A done before proceeding with these. It seems there is very little data on rescue ICSI out there; so if anything, we're going to provide some data to the community. Our doctor told us rescue ICSI typically has very low success rates and that he's only had 1 baby born out of rescue ICSI in 20 years. Our eggs were injected no less than 24 hours after the egg retrieval. Currently awaiting results.

    Is it not better to do PGT on 5 day Blasts as it has more cells by then? I read somewhere that if it's day 3 Blasts then taking 1 cell is equivalent to taking 30% of the Blasts genetic material.

    Hi Dr. Aimee!
    This video was very helpful. After watching I do think pgt-a testing would be a good idea just because of it’s ability to increase my odds for a successful pregnancy.
    It’s just that after my initial consolation with my REI doctor he didn’t think that pgt-a testing was necessary for someone with my medical history. This would be my first IVF cycle, I’m 29, my husband is 31, I have 28-31 day cycles monthly, we’ve completed all the steps of the TUSHY method with no red flags, never been pregnant and have been diagnosed with “unexplained” infertility.
    I’d love to take my doctor’s advice and save some money by not pgt-a testing. However, I’m skeptical because there’s some reason I’m not getting pregnant. It just seems unreal that doing IVF alone without pgt-a testing will be enough to get me pregnant. I’d love to hear your opinion Dr. Aimee. I have to make the decision whether or not I would like to move forward with pgt-a testing before I schedule my IVF cycle.
    Thanks!

      erica L if you both haven’t done a chromosome analysis I would before you decide not to do pgt. The likelihood of a problem is 1 in 500 but that could be the reason. I think young people should especially consider testing so you know which embryos will be the best for your future transfers. But I always suggest listening to your doctor because they know the strength of their ivf lab. Non invasive genetic testing is coming soon! See if they will offer it to their patients. It’s a very exciting time to be a fertility patient. Chances are higher than ever with the tools we have.

    my brain in so full with all this fertility info and all the percentages. I read that at my age ( almost 42) I have only a 7% chance of IVF working, is this only considering cycles done without PGT? Sorry if you talked about this.

    My daughter has one embryo showed up on the report as LMT. What does that mean? Can that be used as a possible transfer egg?
    She has two euploid eggs but she may need this 3 egg who knows?
    She is just turned 40.

    I typed in What is a mitoscore and this video popped up, but there was no mention of mitoscores :-(

    • @EggWhisperer
      @EggWhisperer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      MitoScore is a mitochondrial biomarker developed by Igenomix which gives us an indicator of the energy status of an embryo. MitoScore allows us to identify embryos with the greatest probabilities for implantation, and a viable pregnancy through IVF/ PGT-A. However research is showing now that the scores may not be as indicative of embryo viability as once thought

    I froze my eggs at 35 and now want to use for fertilization at the IVF center RMANY. They will then be frozen and transferred to DallasIVF where I live. Rma is saying they are hesitant to do PGT testing on embryos from frozen eggs at time of fertilization period.... can pgt testing be done AFTER the embryos are frozen and then thawed at another facility?

    I like your show. But just feedback, nowadays, people watch videos on their phones. So the data sheets, infographics etc should be larger and your own persona smaller.
    Anyway, very interested in this because I recently got diagnosed with Li-Fraumeni syndrome after u had my 2nd cancer earlier this year. I am not 40 years old yet. So my genetic counselor was telling me about PGT IVF as my option for future family planning

    Hi Dr Aimee
    Hope you are doing good .. I am 35 yrs old and going through second IVf Cycle... my husband Is 36 n has azoospermia... his sperms count is extremely low,motility n morphology of the sperms are also not very good... this time the drs managed to make 2 embryos through icsi.... now the drs are saying that one embryo is of medium health n the other is kind of poor health... After hearing that I became really concerned about the chromosomal health.. do u think it would be wise to get PGS done on these embryos which are already not in the best health before the implantation?me n my husband are so confused... please I would be really greatful if u would reply to this query of mine?

    • @ayeshaghazanfar234
      @ayeshaghazanfar234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like to add here that the Dr didn't really look excited about PGS... they said its entirely up to you... n they said that if chromosomally they are not fine then we won't implant

      Yes! It may help. Transferring an embryo with normal chromosomes is helpful and may reduce the risk of miscarriage

    You’re so smart, so kind, so informative. Just wanting to let you know, as you know, gender refers to a socially constructed concept where one’s biological sex is associated with certain proclivities and physical appearance choices, etc. But I would be a lot happier if you’d use the word “biological sex” over gender. What you actually mean when saying revealing gender, is revealing “biological sex.” It’s important that our experts on topics such as these use their scientific terminology correctly so as to be inclusive in the gender diverse community. Please don’t use the word “gender” when gender is a subjective social construct. Please use biological sex. Even if it sounds more technical and less sexy. I adore you and have watched tons of your videos and have suggested you to others. I’m sure you have smarts reasons for choosing the terminology you’ve chosen, but please consider using different terminology to remain inclusive. Thank you!
