STORY
Visite Picasso is a classic documentary by dir. Paul Haesaerts which features the frequently used footage of Picasso painting on glass while a camera films him from the other side. The trick of filming thru glass allows the viewer to witness Picasso's true genius as he paints his famous Torros with just a few well-placed brushstrokes. Shot in beautiful black and white in Picasso's home in Vallauris, the film is a poetic treatment of the master-painter. This captivating film is a must see for anyone interested in art.

@dianxuemaster He was a prodigy, when he was less than 10 years old he could do photorealistic drawings, he was so brilliant that he developed cubism as something opposite to history's trend to paint realistically... you should read about him a bit, because then you could base your dislikes with knowledge.... my 2 cents

@psykoman2004 Picasso was very talented, but this story of him being a prodigy as a child is a legend. He never drew or painted anything significant till he was in his 20s.
I know this was years ago but that’s just plain wrong - there’s a portrait in a museum from when he was 14. He very much did.
Wrong. He was accomplished and drawing realistically up until the age of 17. At that age, he met Paul Gauguin and that's when his style changed.

I wonder what kind of paint he used. Must've been oil-based of some kind, because acrylics hadn't been developed yet?
Cheryl Campbell there were water based paints. This is late 50s or so. Acrylics were developing but It could be tempera too.

Well first of art isn't just one way road As far as I know, it has many ganres like impressionism, futurism ect. As far as I saw Picasso's art he was painting in expressionism/surrealism and (or) abstractionism. For example these days abtractionists just glob some paint on canvas and that's considered as art. So I don't know if he's genius artist, but I don't he's bad artist (I mean if he was then he would not be recognised by world or just part of it)
