"Merlin Brando". and the "Isle of Lucy"... too funny. I remember that from watching these cartoons three decades ago. Thank you for posting these older generation cartoons. They're so much better than the trash they make today!
OMG I can not believe you posted this, I have missed Super Chicken. Thank you so much. this brings back so many memories, saturday mornings, cartoons, and capn crunch. These were the greatest cartoons of all time, they definitly do not make these like they used to.
I remember when Northwest childrens entertainer J.P. Patches showed Super Chicken, as well as George Of The Jungle and Tom Slick on his show. I grew up with this in the 70's. hahahaha
many thanks for making these videos available,it brings back some great memories, the animation quality in this particular episode seems a little poor compared to earlier episodes 🤔
This episode has a different feel than some others. Very funny, but the drawing and animation stands out. It’s almost like this episode was farmed out to Fred Crippen. It has a Roger Ramjet sensibility. 🤔
This also sounds like one of the episodes Rich Harrison did sound editing on, given some of the different sound effects (like at 0:58). He largely worked on the "Tom Slick" segments, but he also did the sound effects for three "George" shorts and three "Super Chicken" shorts.
The male voice was Daws Butler and the female voice was June Foray, both regulars on Rocky & Bullwinkle as well as Fractured Fairy Tales. June was also the voice of Marigold on "Tom Slick" and Ursula on "George of the Jungle."
What great jokes are in this episode and in all the episodes as well. I'm sure the actor who voiced Merlin Brando also worked on the Bullwinkle Show (fractured fairy tales). Also the magic mirror must be easily impressed as Super Chicken only ran across the T V screen a few times.
Yeah, that's the late, great Daws Butler voicing Merlin Brando. He often used that Phil Silvers-esque voice in the "Fractured Fairy Tales" segments, along with Hanna-Barbera's Hokey Wolf. Though when he starts imitating a woman's voice at 3:01, it changes to June Foray.
So after all these years I finally know where that reference to a "lady" growing a five o'clock shadow came from! I thought for some reason it was in a Fractured Fairy Tales cartoon! Haha! Same production company, Jay Ward!
It occurs to me, why is Super Chicken a dude named Henry? Chickens lay eggs. They are all female. Super Chicken should be Henrietta. If he must be male, shouldn't he be Super Rooster?
Probably the 2nd pilot or first one made for the series. They made an first one with an different character as Super Chicken and an different narrator. It's on TH-cam if anyone wants to see it.

"You rescued your first bearded lady". My favorite line from this episode.
"Do we know anyone on the Isle of Lucy?" LOVE IT!!!
Even as a kid I laughed at the "I Love Lucy" pun! Thanks for posting these classic cartoons!
"Merlin Brando"..."Isle of Lucy"....fantastic!

"If I had any supervision would I be flying in a chicken coupe with a lion?" XD
The Isle of Lucy? Someon'e's got some explaining to do
That was a subtle pun that I missed as a kid but laughed my head off when I saw it as a young adult. Lucy Ricardo & Fred Mertz! Good catch!
Fred: What happened to your super vision. Super Chicken: If I had any supervision, would I be flying a chicken coop with a lion?
One of the best cartoon lines ever.
The Isle of Lucy, Merlin Brando; I remember this show, but when I was that age, I didn't get any of those jokes.
ISLE OF LUCY. MERLIN. BRANDO. THIS. MUST. GO. WAY. BACK. TO THE. 1950S
oh lordy I'm on cartoon nostalgia trip I love it! 😍
I'm right there with u!
Love the video and want to thank you for all the postings of "Super Chicken"
Classic this takes me back almost 45 years 😝
this show is so subercsive and funny, thanx
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Phil Silvers parody voice . :)
Daws Butler used that voice for YEARS (especially as "Hokey Wolf" for Hanna-Barbera).
When it comes to humility he's the greatest.
The Isle of Lucy. That just made my day.Thank you Thuper Chicken.Ohh Thuper Chicken where are you now?

That was supposed to be, "Do we know anyone on the Isle of Lucy, FRED?"
What great jokes are in this episode and in all the episodes as well. I'm sure the actor who voiced Merlin Brando also worked on the Bullwinkle Show (fractured fairy tales). Also the magic mirror must be easily impressed as Super Chicken only ran across the T V screen a few times.

Who else laughed at the thumbnail?
Me
Someone needs to check on Fred. I don’t think he’s doing well.
So after all these years I finally know where that reference to a "lady" growing a five o'clock shadow came from! I thought for some reason it was in a Fractured Fairy Tales cartoon! Haha! Same production company, Jay Ward!
This is basically "Superchicken" meets "Fractured Fairy Tales".
This was the first episode to end with a villain.
It occurs to me, why is Super Chicken a dude named Henry? Chickens lay eggs. They are all female. Super Chicken should be Henrietta. If he must be male, shouldn't he be Super Rooster?
Super Chicken is so cute
Merlin has the same voice as the oyster
Daws Butler strikes again.
He and Mel Blanc were the big names them!! @stephenholloway6893
What do you do if someone pretends to be in distress but in reality is setting up a trap?
+Fred Tenzer
Take the Train, of course!
Why is everybody crossing their eyes in this episode so much?
Hey, they forgot and had the "F" on Fred's shirt not backward at the beginning of the episode!
I just noticed that and I couldn't believe it. It actually switches back and forth. Hilarious!
Well yes June Foray voiced Merline as well.
Supervision FTW.
The Thumbnail though
@mechasaurus haha I noticed that!
Super Coop. LMAOROTF. And what IS in that Super Sauce?
Merline Brando?
That's crazy. There were no gays in the 60s:)
This must have been the pilot for the series; nothing else can explain why it looks so weird.
Probably the 2nd pilot or first one made for the series. They made an first one with an different character as Super Chicken and an different narrator. It's on TH-cam if anyone wants to see it.
👀👀👌👌👌
I believe it. June Foray is a female version of Mel Blanc. =D
😂
LOL
Barack 0bama, super chicken, Joe Biden is Fred
