There's something a bit screwy going on with the frame rate in my version of Coast 2 Coast. It's been doing it for as long as I can remember, but it seems to have got worse over time. You'll notice there are instances in the game where for a second or two or three, the game will suddenly go waaaay too fast, making controlling the car really difficult. Other times, the frame rate will seemingly get a bit chuggy, but yet still feel too fast. It's weird...
I’m sure you’ve tried this stuff before, but setting the game executable as high priority in task manager and capping the frame rate in your graphics cards settings might improve things.
@@DiscoMouse Thanks for the suggestion. I've previously tried turning V-Sync on in the NVIDIA control panel and setting the monitor refresh rate to 60HZ, but it didn't make any difference. I've never thought to try altering the game priority in Task Manager, as it's (the game that is) pretty low spec and ran without issue on my old single core Pentium 4, so my i5 shouldn't be struggling. I guess it's worth a try though.
Great video as usual! The framerate issue is not just you mate. It's been happening since at least a couple years back for me as well. I brought the issue up to Howard a long time ago but can't remember what his response was. Something to do with the way FXT runs on top of the game original game and uses some additional processing. It's annoying to the point where I actually prefer playing vanilla OR2 SP in Teknoparrot. Hopefully Howard finds and releases a fix for the framerate issue. No reason for a game this old not to be running buttery smooth on our machines(I have a i5 8600K & 2080Ti). Anyway keep those excellent vids coming bro!
@@isamuu99 Thanks mate. I asked about it over at the BYOAC forum and Howard confirmed it is indeed a known issue with FXT. Hopefully he'll be able to iron the issue out. Like you say, we've still got the vanilla version of Outrun 2 SPDX for a flawless visual version of the game. Despite the frame rate bug, it's still great to have all the additional options that FXT and the track editor provides.
One man's gem is another man's turd sandwich and those 3 songs fall into the latter category for me. If you like them, that's cool. We don't all have to like the same things.
@@MrThunderwing thank you so much for telling me the BGM’s I really love the vibe from sega’s lemans 24 arcade racer, especially “Gate Of Trials” that was played on the first part of the video
Cheers Mr.T, another great Outrun vid. Have to agree with you on the '86 tracks, they were never matched or surpassed and are the true Outrun experience. I have this mod but need to do all the stuff you have with the music. Any guide on how to add/remove the tunes or can that all be done through the editor? Many thanks😁
There's an option to swap music using the Mod, but I've never been able to get that particular option working. I went old skool with the music and altered the tunes in the game's 'sound' folder, which you can find in the root of your Coast 2 Coast game folder. The music files are in the form of something called .ogg files. I'd recommend making a back-up copy of your sound folder before you start altering anything, in case you change your mind in the future and want to go back to the old tunes. You basically just need to save the music you want to insert, as an .ogg file that _exactly_ matches the name of the tune you want to swap out. I use a program called FL Studio 11 to do this. So, for example, if I want to add the tune 'AfterBurner' to my sound folder and I want to swap it out for 'Life Was A Bore Instrumental', I import my AfterBurner WAV file to FL studio and then export it as an .ogg file called '27_Life_was_a_Bore_Instrumental'. You'll then need to make an additional version called 'SEL_27_Life_was_a_Bore_Instrumental' to get it to play on the music select screen as well as in the game. Then just copy and paste your new .ogg files over the old ones. Rinse and repeat until you've swapped out all the music you want to change.
@@MrThunderwing Cheers for the detailed explanation. I have a sound editor that should be able to save as ogg. Maybe some Sega Rally might work in here?! Super Hangon and Afterburner have some sweet tunes so definitely gotta include those. Will let you know how I get on. Many thanks again 😁
@@athermahmood1065 Yep, I've got a Super Hang-On and Afterburner medley in there as well. Super Hang-On"s got such a great soundtrack. Seriously underated in my opinion.
@@MrThunderwing Totally agree with you. Some proper driving tunes in there plus the game itself is still great. Played it on the PS4 and PS3 recently and it's still a joy to play and bloody tough as well!

@Lucas Polo Nope, there's only one version available for several different systems. I'm using a course editor mod to create a custom course

Mind if i ask?
What was the BGM used during the run?
It's made up of some of the BGMs from 'Le Mans 24' a Sega Model 3 board racer from the late 90's that had a soundtrack I loved.
