I just bought a Navy Court bag from an Etsy store. It is in great condition and I am so excited to receive it. I went on the Coach store and bought a coach logo bag strap on sale to compliment the bag.
30 some years ago, there were bags of this style. Coach isn't a dupe, LV PM is not an original style, this style has existed for MANY MANY years. LV fans need to stop thinking LV was the first.
I was coming to say the same thing. Back in the 80’s growing up my mother carried the smooth leather Coach bag in this exact style. If anything LV duped Coach.
I agree that the small briefcase style bag has been around for a long time. Coach and LV and many other brands made them long before the Cassie or Pochette Metis. The thing is, the Cassie was clearly designed to look almost identical to the Pochette Metis and to drive sales for Coach based on the popularity of the Pochette Metis...which makes it a dupe of the Pochette Metis.
LV used the flat slide handles on trunks as far back as 1866. So, No, Coach wasn't first. Flap bags and crossbody straps have been around for 100+ years. So the Court bag of the 80's was made up of existing design elements pieced together to make a nice, functional bag for the time. Coach Cassie definitely copied the PM which was a redesign of the old LV Monceau. And didn't Chanel steal elements of the PM in their Trendy CC? I have all four of these bags. Love them all because they are so functional but I do believe LV did most things first because they've been around for over 150 years. Look at photos of lv in the "Birth of Modern Luxury"

Please look into Coach. This is not a dupe. It's a remake of one of Coach's older styles. Approaching/addressing this as an "LV Dupe" is just...ugh. Coach is a brand that is in its own class. The leathers are beautiful and amazing. They have some really great pieces, especially now. The hang tag is a part of the signature of Coach, much like luggage tags are a thing for certain LV bags. IMO, that colorful hang thing that was placed on this bag makes it look tacky. Please- enjoy LV for what it is and respect/appreciate Coach for what it is.
The Coach Court bag only has the one main compartment and doesn't include the other gussetted pockets which are a hallmark of the Pochette Metis. I'm a huge Coach fan (more than a dozen vintage bags and counting!) but to me it's a blend of the two bags, and a very smart design considering the popularity of the LV PM.
I agree!!!! I just can't pay $2k for that bag and it's canvas!!!! I think they're beautiful but I've heard horror stories in regards to poor workmanship LV Pm.

People keep referring to this as a Pochette Metis dupe when actually it's very similar Coach's classic Court bag, which was around long before the Pochette Metis
The Court bag didn't have three compartments, only one. The trademark of the LV PM is 3 gusseted compartments. Coach is a brand with its own great history, but there's no doubt that the LV PM was also an influence on this bag.

I love that Coach is upping their game. They used to make such great bags and slipped when they moved production from New York to China. Their leather and quality was so good in the 90s. I think they are still producing in China, but they have made efforts to up their quality. I also love that logo clasp. This is really a great bag Autumn! Wonderful choice!! xoxo

I can’t believe I haven’t paid attention to the posts about this bag until today. I’ve been in love with the Pochette Metis since I saw it, and I’m so happy that I can now have a nice bag that has the same profile, without the high price tag and risk of problems that the PM is notorious for. Yay!
I went into coach last week specifically to look at these bags and I loved them! I have the original of this model from the 1980s (more square) and it is still in fantastic condition. I love the quality of coach leather especially for the money.
Well 3 years later I finally have this bag! Haha I couldn’t justify it at the time w my court bag but the court was so heavy. I sold it and by the time I was ready to buy the Cassie it was gone! I’ve been hunting one for a couple years but didn’t want to pay over retail. I ended up getting one through a Nordstrom SA during the sale, I couldn’t believe she found me one! Probably the last one in the company was randomly at my store. I was so happy when she called me. Wooooo!!!!
This is not a dupe at all. Maybe you are not familiar with coach. This is typical of their classic bags from the 90’s. And that top handle is typical Coach. Look at Coach pictures of bags from the 90’s. They were huge on leather then. I am so happy they are going back to their leather classic bags.
Vintage Coach Court bag: THICK glove tanned leather, REAL heavy brass hardware, easily "rehabbed" at home by washing & conditioning to make it look brand new again. Average cost 2nd hand: 10-50 dollars. Some "cheap" bags are the real "Luxury" items while the quality of many luxury bags are cheap.
That is a beautiful bag. Looks so soft. I have a few recent Coach bags, and quite a few pristine vintage Coach bags that I bought new back in the eighties. Coach bags are very well made and the older bags are gorgeous! The leather is like no other on them. I have quite a few years on you, Autumn, and if you were around back then, you would have loved Coach. The styles and the leather were really fantastic. My husband isn't a fan at all of my Vuitton bags, but he loves the Coach bags that I have, old and new.
Ive just gone to try this bag on in store the the display purse glazing was cracked deeply at the same place the metis cracks where he flap and the back panel meet, the sales associate was kind enough to show me the others they had in back stock, all 3 had hairline cracks at the flap bend. She did tell me coach stands behind their product for 1 year with free repairs or replacement. And they do the cleaning service you mention in your video. Totally bummed bc this bag could of been the answer but the LV has made me paranoid and these are new in store with cracks already.
Popped into a Coach store yesterday. All of the Cassie bags had cracks in the same place as the LV PM. Coach is going to end up with Cassie issues. I believe it’s the way the leather, or canvas, is cut. The squared cut puts a stress on the corner, thus creating the crack. Round the cut corners, lessen the stress. Basic engineering and design. I like the look of the Cassie, but the sealant paint job leaves a lot to be desired. I also couldn’t believe the SA didn’t care- she put two of the bags back on display. I hope the next potential buyer inspects them. With Coach, it looks like it’s a case of buyer beware.
Thank you for this great review. I’ve loved And purchased Coach for years. I didn’t realize the extent of their quality until I purchased a Rogue 25. I noticed all the little rivets on the bag were stamped Coach and are all facing up right so they can be clearly read. So I pulled out a LV bag and was very disappointed to see the LVs were going in all directions. Is it a big deal? No, of course not but when you compare money spent it’s just sad. Might have to give this bag a try.

Beautiful bag. I’ve read that Coach came out with this bag years ago, and that the Cassie is an updated version. I’m eyeing this bag in the signature/rust version. I bought a secondhand Coach bag, and the store still provided the cleaning service! I have an original receipt for the item, but they didn’t ask to see it. They recommended you use the service every 3 months for the lifetime of the bag! I think it’s a good marketing strategy. When I went in I checked out the new styles, and saw several I’d be happy to have 🎉

I love Coach leather! I have a Coach Willis in Black made in 1997 and it's and awesome bag. Brass hardware and so utilitarian. But I really need to check out this bag for sure!

The empreinte version of pochette metis doesn't have the golden color rivets around the holes in the strap. That is only present in the monogram version, if you see that in empreinte leather your looking at a fake! I've owned the empreinte noir pm and the golden color wore off the clasp where you pinch to open (in less than a year) the ball part that inserts horribly scratched the s lock face plate as well, I had that replaced by LV and in the process of them stretching the bag open to replace the clasp the glazing cracked around the fold area of the flap. I didn't notice this until after i got home. I sold the bag to fashionphile. PM Retail 2400 after tax! That's 2k more than this bag which appears to be better quality!

Having carried Coach leather bags since I was a teen I found them easy to clean and they wear very well. Way back in the day the early 80's the price on Coach bags and LV was not a wide as it is now. For me Coach is the luxury brand without the luxury price tag. I love the enthusiasm with which you presented the Cassie Court bag. (Yes I renamed it) As Always I love watching you share your ideas and your lovable trio of pets.
Coach is so under rated, but I love coach. I just got a men's crossbody from coach and I love it. I also love all the collabs and themes they come out with. My crossbody is a Atari pac man collab. I can't wait to see what the next big collab they do is. Their Disney collab was really cute too.

(minus the 3 compartments) As soon as I saw your video I automatically thought my mom's old coach bag from the 80s vintage now (Coach Court Bag)...the only difference is the 3 compartments. I saw this bag posted on Instagram too! So I had to look at it in person! It is stunning! It is a straight up tube for the LV pochette Métis! I own the pm in reverse monogram and love it. I didn’t purchase the coach bag because I felt like it would be a repeat in my collection. But this video is making me rethink it now! What a great bag for the price!

You know my saga with that bag and the minute mine had issues after it was repaired to brand new status ,I chose to sell it rather than to deal with the issues that came along with it . Many of you are saying this bag is an updated version of the Coach Court bag. I didn't know that when I filmed the video so thank you for the information. I can definitely see the similarities but I have to double down on what I said in the video. Coach could have redesigned the Court in a hundred different ways but they chose to make the Cassie almost identical to the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis. The resemblance is undeniable, they knew exactly what they were doing, and it's a big reason this bag is selling so well.
I think you are right in saying that the Cassie is a dupe of the Metis; whereas the Court was just an inspiration for the Metis. LV took the design to the next level with the interior organization.

Well 3 years later I finally have this bag! Haha I couldn’t justify it at the time w my court bag but the court was so heavy. I sold it and by the time I was ready to buy the Cassie it was gone! I’ve been hunting one for a couple years but didn’t want to pay over retail. I ended up getting one through a Nordstrom SA during the sale, I couldn’t believe she found me one! Probably the last one in the company was randomly at my store. I was so happy when she called me. Wooooo!!!!

This is not a dupe at all. Maybe you are not familiar with coach. This is typical of their classic bags from the 90’s. And that top handle is typical Coach. Look at Coach pictures of bags from the 90’s. They were huge on leather then. I am so happy they are going back to their leather classic bags.

Vintage Coach Court bag: THICK glove tanned leather, REAL heavy brass hardware, easily "rehabbed" at home by washing & conditioning to make it look brand new again. Average cost 2nd hand: 10-50 dollars. Some "cheap" bags are the real "Luxury" items while the quality of many luxury bags are cheap.
This isn’t inspired by LV, very much traditional Coach style and features. A good option for anyone who likes the shape of both bags butnota “dupe”.

That is a beautiful bag. Looks so soft. I have a few recent Coach bags, and quite a few pristine vintage Coach bags that I bought new back in the eighties. Coach bags are very well made and the older bags are gorgeous! The leather is like no other on them. I have quite a few years on you, Autumn, and if you were around back then, you would have loved Coach. The styles and the leather were really fantastic. My husband isn't a fan at all of my Vuitton bags, but he loves the Coach bags that I have, old and new.

I have the LV PM in black leather. No issues. I will definitely consider buying this bag for work. Beautiful and inexpensive.
Ive just gone to try this bag on in store the the display purse glazing was cracked deeply at the same place the metis cracks where he flap and the back panel meet, the sales associate was kind enough to show me the others they had in back stock, all 3 had hairline cracks at the flap bend. She did tell me coach stands behind their product for 1 year with free repairs or replacement. And they do the cleaning service you mention in your video. Totally bummed bc this bag could of been the answer but the LV has made me paranoid and these are new in store with cracks already.
Popped into a Coach store yesterday. All of the Cassie bags had cracks in the same place as the LV PM. Coach is going to end up with Cassie issues. I believe it’s the way the leather, or canvas, is cut. The squared cut puts a stress on the corner, thus creating the crack. Round the cut corners, lessen the stress. Basic engineering and design.
I like the look of the Cassie, but the sealant paint job leaves a lot to be desired. I also couldn’t believe the SA didn’t care- she put two of the bags back on display. I hope the next potential buyer inspects them. With Coach, it looks like it’s a case of buyer beware.

Thank you for this great review. I’ve loved And purchased Coach for years. I didn’t realize the extent of their quality until I purchased a Rogue 25. I noticed all the little rivets on the bag were stamped Coach and are all facing up right so they can be clearly read. So I pulled out a LV bag and was very disappointed to see the LVs were going in all directions. Is it a big deal? No, of course not but when you compare money spent it’s just sad. Might have to give this bag a try.

I’m on the shorter side and they punched some additional holes for me for free on the spot. Can’t wait to wear her!

Beautiful bag. I’ve read that Coach came out with this bag years ago, and that the Cassie is an updated version. I’m eyeing this bag in the signature/rust version. The color blocks are beautiful as well. Coach has really been stepping up their game. Their customer service is amazing as well. They also offer hot stamping and customization.

I bought a secondhand Coach bag, and the store still provided the cleaning service! I have an original receipt for the item, but they didn’t ask to see it. They recommended you use the service every 3 months for the lifetime of the bag! I think it’s a good marketing strategy. When I went in I checked out the new styles, and saw several I’d be happy to have 🎉

I love Coach leather! I have a Coach Willis in Black made in 1997 and it's and awesome bag. Brass hardware and so utilitarian. But I really need to check out this bag for sure!

The empreinte version of pochette metis doesn't have the golden color rivets around the holes in the strap. That is only present in the monogram version, if you see that in empreinte leather your looking at a fake! I've owned the empreinte noir pm and the golden color wore off the clasp where you pinch to open (in less than a year) the ball part that inserts horribly scratched the s lock face plate as well, I had that replaced by LV and in the process of them stretching the bag open to replace the clasp the glazing cracked around the fold area of the flap. I didn't notice this until after i got home. I sold the bag to fashionphile. PM Retail 2400 after tax! That's 2k more than this bag which appears to be better quality!

I was actually thinking of getting a fake Metis because I really love the bag but I think the price is too much for all the problems you mentioned. This Coach bag is a much better option for me. Having carried Coach leather bags since I was a teen I found them easy to clean and they wear very well.
Way back in the day the early 80's the price on Coach bags and LV was not a wide as it is now. For me Coach is the luxury brand without the luxury price tag. I love the enthusiasm with which you presented the Cassie Court bag. (Yes I renamed it) As Always I love watching you share your ideas and your lovable trio of pets.
Coach is so under rated, but I love coach. I just got a men's crossbody from coach and I love it. I also love all the collabs and themes they come out with. My crossbody is a Atari pac man collab. I can't wait to see what the next big collab they do is. Their Disney collab was really cute too.

Love the video.. this style bag wasn't really LVs idea... (minus the 3 compartments) As soon as I saw your video I automatically thought my mom's old coach bag from the 80s vintage now (Coach Court Bag)...the only difference is the 3 compartments. The handle design has been around for a while. I love LV... but I think we give them 2 much credit as being a pioneer. Both are nice bags tho. Wishing you the best XOXO Ryn

Hello, just seen this now. But that’s not totally true, the Court bag by Coach was released in 1989, but what many people fail to acknowledge is the fact that Louis Vuitton has a bag from 1985-6 that’s almost identical to the Pochette Metis thus it was also characterized by many the vintage version of the pochette metis. The bag I’m referring to is the Louis Vuitton Monceau, you can look it up and see the similarities with the pochette metis. It didn’t have 3 compartments but neither did the court bag. The 3 compartment design was then added on the pochette metis and then Coach was inspired by it and created the cassie, a modernised version of the court bag. And, the way the handle is designed on the pochette metis is a LV classic, as the LV trunks from 1860’s have the same handle design as the pochette metis. Have a nice day and stay safe.
I saw this bag posted on Instagram too! So I had to look at it in person! It is stunning! It is a straight up tube for the LV pochette Métis! I own the pm in reverse monogram and love it. I didn’t purchase the coach bag because I felt like it would be a repeat in my collection. But this video is making me rethink it now! What a great bag for the price!

Many of you are saying this bag is an updated version of the Coach Court bag. I didn't know that when I filmed the video so thank you for the information. I can definitely see the similarities but I have to double down on what I said in the video. Coach could have redesigned the Court in a hundred different ways but they chose to make the Cassie almost identical to the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis. The resemblance is undeniable, they knew exactly what they were doing, and it's a big reason this bag is selling so well.
I think you are right in saying that the Cassie is a dupe of the Metis; whereas the Court was just an inspiration for the Metis. LV took the design to the next level with the interior organization.
@@fatalisticbunny I've been looking in my mom closet for her old version of this bag that has the dividers inside. The outside looks like one big ass bag but inside its sectioned off. She would never let me borrow it (or any of her bags ) but I know she still has it. So I can have the new one and the old one.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting Coach took the idea from a LV at all. . There is just a great similarity. To those who don’t remember the Coach bags from way back in the 1980s and 1990s, this would be a normal assumption. That was almost 30 years ago.
