Like Stephen Hawking. Even as technology progressed and he was given the opportunity to have a more realistic sounding voice, he declined. He said this has been his voice for so long that it is his voice and he wouldn't want to change it.
It’s even better when you can take it with a pawn instead. Back when I was 1200 I accept Vienna gambit and sac the knight to play Qh4+. You won’t believe how many people play g3 and blunder queen promotion before move 10. And even if they don’t play g6 no one seems to know that they want to put the king on e3 after f4+. This doesn’t work above 1500 tho. People there would already know this.
i actually had an interesting variant in one of my games yesterday - my opponent thought he had this tactic but it turned out to be a blunder. What my opponent missed was that my queen was on e4 guarding the g6 pawn, and my opponent took that pawn with his knight thinking I would recapture with the h-pawn and lose my rook. Of course I instead captured with the queen offering a queen trade. so my opponent was basically down a knight for no compensation, and i went on to easily win the game
@@wojtekwozniak9272 no not quite, it’s similar in that the queen goes to h5, but it usually occurs more in the midgame when more pieces are developed, and it’s usually with check, as the diagonal has been opened up to the king (like in this video at 2:39 after black plays f6) the key to this tactic is there is a knight usually on e5 ready to sacrifice itself, as well as an undefended rook on h8 - when white plays Qh5+ and black pushes g6 to block the check and counterattack the queen, white takes on g6 with the aforementioned knight, which would usually be a bad trade because g6 is defended by a pawn, but when the h-pawn recaptures the knight it opens up the h-file allowing the queen on h5 to capture the hanging rook in the corner once you’ve seen the pattern once you’ll probably start recognizing it a lot more, it also happens a lot in puzzle rush
@@wojtekwozniak9272 No. This only happens if someone blunders in a opening where a knight can take on e5 (or e4 for black). Usually by playing a sharp opening and then forgetting the move. Also worth noting is that sometimes it looks like you have the tactic but it doesn’t actually work. Do note that you’ll rarely see this tactic if you’re a d4 player as white and don’t reply to e4 with e5 as black. An example of having this tactic is in Rousseau Gambit main line (e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc4 f5 d4 fxe4 Nxe5 this is a good opening but you really have to remember your line well to play this) where black’s next move is supposed to be d5 but if black forgot and play d6 attacking the knight instead white will have this tactic. An example of the not working tactic is in Damiano’s Defense main line (e4 e5 Nf3 f6 Nxe5 Qe7 it’s not a good defense for black. Don’t play it. But white might die to this trap sometimes) where white might think they have this tactic and then get hit with Qxe4+ forking the king and knight. Sometimes you can also get hit with Nf6 (in other opening, not this one) and the queen can’t stay on the h file and have to let the knight die.
I could see this variant getting pretty successful. Main reasons why are that standard openings still mostly work, but pawns are able to be *very aggressive" and passed pawn endgames are incredibly dangerous without a rook.
To be fair, the opponent having a lower rating than you did not give him a disadvantage, because it meant he had already played a game and understood it better
I love this mode! Kinda feels like "Chess, but the pawns' live up to their logical potential". Really lets you get creative with your attacks/defenses.
IMHO for that rule to be playable, I woul think pawns would need to be subject to en passant captures via any piece, rather than just pawns.and should not promote unless/until after the opponent fails to capture them. It might be interesting to see how well such a variant could play out with such balancing.
@@matheusbellini3188 If I were writing the rules, moving an opposing piece to a square the pawn had passed through would retroactively cause the pawn to have only moved forward that number of squares, but also be viewed as having been a valid "distraction" from check e.g. if the White king were on h8, squares g3-g8 were all vacant, and Black had rooks on f4 and f7, then after Rf8+, white could move g8=Q to block the check, but black could move Rxg4e.p.+. White would be retroactively viewed as having moved the pawn to g4 rather than g8, but Black would be retroactively viewed as having committed to taking the pawn, and thus have been unable to use the rook on f8 to capture the Black king.
@@flatfingertuning727 okay, to me that sounds very logical, this is just what I imagined when you mentioned "en passant with any piece on any square the pawn has passed through"
@@matheusbellini3188 BTW, I don't know how one could propose a rule tweak to Duck Chess, but I'd like to see en passant treated in somewhat analogous fashion there: if there were a White pawn on e2 and a Black pawn on d4, then if White moved e4, placing duck on e3, Black could capture en passant by retroactively changing White's pawn move to e3; placing the duck on e4 (which would naturally be vacant), and after capturing Black would be allowed to place the duck anywhere but e4.
Thanks for going out of your way to not do an en passant every time an opportunity came up (This was a cool mode to watch though, I liked the faster more aggressive pace)
Because the rule was invented for them They originally only moved one square, openings took too long When they got allowed to move two squares on first move, en passant became a thing to make up for the missing first move In custom variants, I believe it's possible to allow en passant by any piece
It's gotten to a point after months of Simp's content where I truly forget that's a Text To Speech voice, it feels alive somehow
What's wild is then you hear the voice in another video and think "I wonder how Simp ended up collabing with this youtuber"

That Queen/rook pin facilitated by the knight sac has been my favorite trick as of late, makes me feel like a GM

torpedo chess but en passant is forced
But en passant IS forced, he just broke the rules in this vieeo

feels nice to see a casual challenge mode
1:45 everyone point and stare he didn't censor the fuck word

Chess, but you can only move pawns and knights, and the pawns can only be promoted to knight or bishop
Ooh yess
So if you promote to a Bishop, you cannot move it?

Not going to lie - when I was first learning how to play, this is how I thought pawns moved.
Pretty much most of people were like this haha
I also was like that
No en passaint. That's scandalous
0:12 The reason that pawns can promote to a queen or any piece other than the king is because all the pieces aside from the king are female.

Chess but you are playing All The King’s Horses. All pieces and pawns are replaced with Knights.
I was expecting Polumnia Omnia to last the entire video
IIRC the Marching Pawn in Ouroboros King has the same buff as in this variant.
In the ending I went by frames and got the moment where there are no black pieces on the board. No clue why they do that but I was very confused.
The black pieces get replaced with grey pieces, so you see them getting removed on one frame and then the grey pieces added on the next frame.
I do enjoy these occasional games with higher rated people
