Personally, I'd drill the field you created from the forest with grass, that way you can still work on it without destroying the crop, and it provides a clean area to manage trees, the grass of course can be used for silage and sheep food
@@DoctorFish10 I started with just mowing the meadow grass, turned to silage, then immediately turned the field into ariable crops. I bought my second plot on Day 3, same thing mowed the meadow grass, silage now end of Day 5, ready to sell that lot. When I get sheep, I will keep some of the meadow grass from a new field for the sheep. I am not planting grass or waiting for meadow grass to grow again to mow it a second time. And I have bought all my soil samples, a basic lime spreader, got my PH to perfect on 2 plots, seeded mostly soybeans, but some wheat, and rolled the seed bed. Those 2 plots are now just growing so back to tree work for me unless I do buy my 3rd plot on the 6th game day, then its mowing the initial grass again and getting some fields in.
Hey guys. Dont worry about the repetitive nature of cutting trees. Our forfathers cleared forests to create land for crops. It wasnt easy work and it didnt pay well. They wouldve sown their first fields by hand. This series will remind us where we came from. Patience and hard work with basic tools. Go for it Chainsaw and Daggers!
Max value if everything is plowed, not sure if that's the case. I prefer that too, but I haven't done a survival map save, heck I started a new one on Calm Lands and first thing I did was sell everything and find all the collectibles 😂
Basically if they do that, that removes value from clearing more trees in that plot, and corners them into buying another plot, which money and lack of equipment is their problem. Getting the equipment is a more permanent solution that enables them to expand progressively by working from the ground up.
side note, if you have only plowed/created a field on part of the field, it will charge you for that portion, you will have to buy soil samples again for the new field on the same plot, but it will only charge you for the difference. My samples for 1st 2 fields (like what Dagger and Chainsaw now have seeded) was about 1800. I have now bought my second plot, and extended a field, so I bought samples for that field, for 1500, then when I created a 3rd field in the rest of that plot I had to buy samples again but they only charged me 500 for it.
Well, i feel like you 2 should maybe sell the both of the small Trailers that you have, and replace them with a Logging Trailer. Also, you could use the Cultivator to mark the Propertyborders you have currently, making it easier to estimate how much wood you can still take
I would recommend investing in a forage wagon, simple windrow, and mower, as well as a cheap silage pit. When you buy your next field mow the meadow grass as it has no effect with precision farming on the nitrogen level on your first crop of the land. Soybeans will always be over nitrogen target, most other crops will be at 0 nitrogen levels, or at max 10kg nitrogen which for the most part is way below what other crops want and you need more. I mowed the meadow grass on the 1st plot for the area of the two fields that Dagger and chainsaw had now, on Day 3 I sold the silage for about 100,000. I bought the second field and immediately mowed all the meadow grass. Next game day (January Year 2) I am ready to sell that, and it will give me close to 140,000 in profit. Enough to buy the 3rd field, and mow the meadow grass and probably get chickens too, maybe even a storinator silo in that budget as well. I think the first purchase will be a stump grinder though. I have just completed December, which I think is Day 5. And I am playing solo, which means I have half the efficiency, although I am playing a bit more of the game day, about 12 hours play (in game time) but my game time is always on 6x. I noticed Daggerwin changes the game time every episode. 1st Ep it was 5x, second and 3rd it was 6x, now its 3x. So to be at the end of Day 5, and be contemplating buying a 3rd plot I feel like I am a reasonable amount ahead. I have all soybeans except 1 field which is wheat (food for the upcoming chicken farm)
When cutting trees, you should probably have someone cutting and stacking and let the other person load and cart the logs back. Alternatively, get one of them logging winches for pulling the trees out as they are cut to have the other person cut and stack.
Still think the left side of the forest over the bridge would make for a great yard area , it is raised up from the new field on the right and looks like it feeds onto the bridge nicely.
Love this series idea! Always a slow start from zero, but you'll have more work than both of you can do in no time. I'm excited to see it! I think it would be cool to set a goal so we know how things are progressing and the series has a definitive arc to it. That's my only suggestion. Keep it coming!
The reason thar orange forestry mulcher has such a high power requirement is because it doubles up as a subsoiler/plow. If you run it in the ground it will create a new field, which will obviously bog down the tractor in terms of power.
As someone has done quite a bit of cedaring (clearing out small cedars) those thinner pines can be carried pretty easy. It’s dragging them out of the woods that requires machinery more often than not.
Re. falling off the bridge into the river..... Having done this myself several times (doh), I discovered that the Bridge in Alien Jim's Placeable Objects Pack (£2500) covers the existing bridge exactly... it is wider and has sides, so you can't fall off..... That is one deep river.
Lumberjack mod gives you opportunity to see log length on both sides of chainsaw. That way you can cut exactly right length logs for your trailer and for the best selling price (6-8m)
I tried that, and it was more effort than it was worth. I had the same plot as them, and after 20 minutes I only had 1000 maybe 1500 litres (if that), it wasn’t a lot, my harvester was only 5% full
@@philash824 I fully agree there...I have a rather small combine on my game (running Through the Years...currently its about to turn 1960, and I have a Deere 510 combine), and I couldn't fill it when I harvested the oat field I had cut (there's Oats and Sorghum in the forests and all over the meadows). I'm planning on just cultivating the patches in the grass and replanting as grass to get rid of it.
Just a thought, but what if you guys sold one tractor and its attachments and bought a counterweight for the other one as well as a self loading logging trailer and one of you cuts down trees while the other picks up the felled trees and takes them to the sell point? Could make a pretty good amount of money quicker than what you are doing now? When the time comes, take the tractor to work on the fields while the other fells trees. Just a thought is all.
8 meter length trees is the best to sell. You loose money the longer and shorter they are. And if you were to roll the grass before cultivating would it give a 50% fertilizer bonus?
Where's vintage survival at? I've been busy watching a lot of your older stuff and started watching the latest vintage survival, but it hasn't come out in a while. Did I miss you saying it wasn't coming out yet?

Please use seasons. Just growing the same two fast crops over and over will get really boring. Also why was Chainsaw left just doing logging while you did all the other jobs?
Hi daggerwin on the krumbeck series. Could you not do this. So people.in real life lease cars houses and other things and the money from the lease that you pay will go towards you be able to buy it because the money goes down as you pay to lease it. Could you not do that on this lest play. Because then you can long term lease for example a tractor and then you get daily fees. That will towards and bring the price down of that tractor. You could do it with anything peice of equipment.
I disagree with your decision to seed that field. It would have been far better for you to help Chainsaw clear the trees instead of getting out of a job you've always hated. That's not to say im not enjoying the series, i just think you should be helping, not tryjng to get out of it.

Hey Daggerwin. You should download the Lumberjack mod. That way you can remove the stumps with the chainsaw.
They don’t use it because they have rules in this series, it was also not in the other VS Series
I love TMC for forestry it can clear up every thing Inc stumps
I thought you weren’t allowed to use super strength, but then I saw chainsaw do it when that tree fell on top of you while cultivating
Don’t listen to people not liking it it is great carry on with the goodluck
Daggerwin you can purchase the soil information instead of buying the analyzer, it might be cheaper buying soil information than the analyzer itself.
Not yet watched a Farm Sim video where people talk good about using a Zetor tractor... They always seem to end up back at the dealership😂
For a stump grinder why not use the skid steer tool? Getting a skid steer is never a bad idea and the grinder is only lik $2,500
There is also an adapter for skid steer tools to work on front loaders in the CSZ pack that is only $500 which could help them save a ton of money
