- The "World's worst airport" wants to prove something and currently is sporting a new look right now. The facilities in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 are repaired like the check-in counter, air conditioners and comfort rooms.

Sana i-rehabilitate din nila yung ugali ng mga empleyado sa airport.
Di lang naman ang rehabilitation or new look ng NAIA ang issue. Kung meron pa din mga nangingikil sa loob ng airport, worst pa din ang NAIA.
Unfortunately, my personal experience on 11 Mar 2015 4am, confirms that NAIA1 is still the worst airport. The very first notice you see at departure is the sign that states "trolley use are free", which rightfully should be, rather than airport staff taking their initiative to charge passengers for a "service fee". Which I still faced recently.
Then come the luggage scan by the airport operations staff at the airport terminal entrance, the guy chit chatted with me and sounded friendly, and then asked for "coffee money"! Yah, great airport!
Gate waiting area is not air-con ready. No lounges (except a new one setup). Counter queuing area is a lump of mess. Without a good "software" meaning SYSTEM, the hardware upgrade is too slow, too late, and prone to wear & tear, as we all know how often it will be "maintain" if there is such a thing in the operater's vocab.
And there is more horror, the 99.999% cab driver would most likely "Con" you, by "forgetting" to turn on the meter, or run a longer route, and claim he has no change, or charge a "fixed" rate! And btw, good luck with the silly route from the airport to the city, you will find yourself travelling a maze "around" the various NAIA 1/2/3 and still be near the airport area half an hour later. Oh there's a high-way in construction, let's see how "soon" it can be completed.

Yes, NAIA Terminal 1 gets new look. But Philippines still needs new, better, and bigger airport rather than improving NAIA. NAIA improvement will result to short-term. Also, it will not address the congestion of runway and taxiway traffic of NAIA.

That's a good start but what they need to do is fire the workers who break in and steal valuable stuff on peoples luggage. They need to be strict and organize because what those workers who have done it or planning to is not right and a embarrassment to the filipinos living abroad.

Dapat lang naman ayusin para naman kahit sa airport palang masabi na ng balikbayan pinoy kahit paano may improvement ng konti at dapat lang din maayos ang facilities ng airport dahil mga kababayan natin balikbayan ang gagamit magbayad man ng terminal fee at travel tax ok lang..saka sana medyo lakihan ang duty free sa loob at kainan..sana ipagbawal narin ang pagpapasok sa ibang tao wala naman sinusundo or hinahatid sa arrival.kadalasan paglabas palang sa arrival or pupunta ng parking area meron ng tao lalapit makikibuhat tapos hihingi ng pera...

Taiwan airport is building another new bigger Terminal, the designer is same as Singapore one.
I hope the 550 php terminal fee that we paid to them really spent well to these renovated facilities. However, I still choose to be skeptic about what they do around there.
After rehabilitating all terminals including connecting NAIA1 and 2, dapat runway expansion ang dapat isunod, yung sa cyberbay, however, hindi gagalawin ang bird sanctuary, at yung isa, sa likod ng MOA na distansya from end of DMBoulevard to lagpas pa sa coconut palace. We are waiting for the feasibility study ng JICA para makumpleto na ang Airport City.
A sound waste of money, if you'd ask me. Moving the airport to Sangley Point and closing the whole of NAIA would be a better solution.

Have you been to other Airports around the world? Only Philippines that I'm afraid, you watch your back at all times. Philippines airport are so small, no conveniences to relax while you waiting for your flight.

Terminal 1 needs to improve the check in counter lines because they are blocking the pathway of other travelers. The immigration officers and emplyees also need to be more friendly and attentive. A few months ago the immigration officer for the departure area threw our passports on the counter and gave us a bad look. They also need to improve the roofs in some parts of the airport by raising the roof and making the area more open.

Going to Manila ? Remember do not ever bring bullets. Many many cases of bullets found in luggages. Some of my friends were caught and were unable to give credible answers to the Customs officers' questions - you are tourist, why got bullets ? You going to casino - why the bullets ? Next question is - how much money you have ?

Hello po. :) I have traveled from different countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Macao, Hong Kong, etc.) already and I'm concerned about our country's.
We came back to the Philippines yesterday, June 11 2018 from Hong Kong. Our flight was delayed for 2 hours, our baggage was very late, the immigration wasn't strict, it was still very hot, there were barely any seats, the comfort rooms were full and uncomfortable, when we came out, we were welcomed with strong rain and heavy traffic. The airport wasn't clean or welcoming at all. It may have gotten more space but it isn't really enough for the thousands of people that arrive every day. I'm Filipino and I was very ashamed when foreign crew members arrived, saw the place and threw a fit. Who wouldn't? They were all exhausted and where can they rest in a place like that? I do not hate the Philippines. The airport is terrible and some places aren't really the best but I appreciate the hospitality of some people. I hope they focus more on building a better airport for everyone because it symbolizes our country. It's what will give others a first impression. Please work on making NAIA a place everyone would feel welcome in like other countries. I'm not trying to be racist. I am just pointing out another fact that's putting the country down. That is all for now. Thank you.
I was there on march 10 and yes it still is the worst airport for me, the line ups are all through the terminal , there was a Korean and eva flight at same time , 1 hour line up to check your bag
update just flew eva and I saw huge improvements at t1 landing was a breeze and going home no long lineups

Ngayon lang nagrehabilitate after all these years...pero ever since the 80s they've been collecting "airport improvement fees". Kasi naman, dapat they have it in their calendar, regular checks of the airport from top to bottom, say every 3 years, for structure, every year or as needed in the facilities...agapan ng maaga before totally masira, bec if that happens mas mabigat sa bulsa. We have so many aging infrastructure in the country with no regular upgrade or rehabilitation timelines set on them...like our dams are so old that they need modern upgrades.
Anyway...thank goodness for finally doing something about this airport, but this terminal has seen its time as an international airport, we need a far modern airport, like tha of HK created in a reclaimed land & convert NAIA into a domestic airport. I like to fly other airlines, but dread arriving in T1. Also custumer service needs to always be the staff's priority, working in the airport after all is a people service profession, so bawal magsungit at habaan ang pasensha.

Nasa tropical country tay dapat ipagmalaki nating ang mga plants...maglagay ng garden or orchidarium para pleasing sa eyes ng mga pasahero...pang alis ng stress while waiting for your flight...may mga artificial falls para malamig ang atmosphere...yan lang ba ang nakaya ng taxes binabayad ng mga ofw and pinoy tourirst? as well as the foreign tourist? tapos dapat friendly mga staff sa loob regardless kung ano rank mo...one time sister ko binulyawan and pinahiya sa mga tao malapit sa immigration sa simple pagtatanong nya...eh hello? sino ba nagpapasueldo sa inyo? di ba mga pasahero? travel tax and terminal fee hello?

All terminals are still terrible. I travel a lot all around Asia and the Philippines should be ashamed for this airport. It’s the first thing people see when arriving and again when they depart. Painting a shit airport is not making it better it’s the same airport just with a coat of new paint. The Philippines air terminal the glass box as I call it is probably the worst of all the bad terminals there. It’s like a fish tank and must have been designed by a 5 year old with a crayon. What airport don’t have enough seats for the passengers??? Last time I was there flying to Guam the security guard was setting out plastic garden chairs for the old passengers that couldn’t find a chair. Worst international airport in Asia and still is today.
YOU CAN MAKE EVERYTHING FANCY OR COVER EVERYTHING IN GOLD, IT WON'T TAKE US AWAY FROM BEING ONE OF THE WORD'S WORST AIRPORT. SIMPLY BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO WORK OR RUN IT, LUCK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS.

i left from this airport in October in 2015. apart from computer failure at check-in which had us queuing for 3.5 hours the roof leaked water on to my phone..saw small puddles of water on the floor. and the strangest thing ever,i went to the mens toilets from inside the terminal but once i left by the exit door i was out on the street again and had to go to a check-in door again to get back in to the terminal! .as i looked up at the offices above the waiting area i saw people sitting on the wall. this wall looked as if it about 4 feet high and if the fell over onto the waiting area below they would be in a sorry state. why is there not a safety rail along that wall so people could not sit on it.oh and the canteen it was beyond belief. to say it is outdated ....ummm. it is a shame because the Filipino people are the most friendliest people i have met.they deserve better.

subukan mong pumunta sa ibang bansa. yang ganda ng naia na yan walang sinabi sa ibang bansa. natatawa nga ako kase yung mga officials para dyan hindi ba sila nakapangibang bansa kahit minsan? sobrang liit ng space sa naia. nakarating na ako sa beijing at ang masasabi ko lang ay wow. may fountains kahit saan at may rebulto pa at ang pinakamalupit, may train pa sa loob ng airport. iba ang china sa Pilipinas pero sana, pagandahin nila yan sa sarili nating paraan kase, madumi na nga yung naia 2, madumi pa yung lansangan tapos andilim pa sa gabi.

I wouldn't call it worlds worst airport. It's nice, besides the sweltering heat, the lines were long, not very good waiting zones, while being overcrowded (Literally saw people sitting on the floor because it was so overcrowded), despite that, it seems nice.
Dahil nagkaroon na ng pagbabago ang airport, cguro panahon na rin na dapat palitan ang pangalan nito para malimutan na ang dating bulok na imahe ng airport. Sa halip na NAIA ay palitan nlng ng DU30 INT'L AIRPORT, kung mi kokontra ehdi, gawing: NEW MANILA INT'L AIRPORT. Opinyon lng po. Peace be with you!

So there' a looming movement that's gonna happen in the last qtr of the year. Most foreign airlines in NAIA 1 are going to be moved to T3 . All intl routes of 5J and PAL are going to be moved to T1. If that happens, I hope T3 gets a major uplift too. The signages and displays make me cringe. Medyo hindi maganda sa paningin at ang mga naka display e puro real estate projects.

Read other source of news so that you will be enlightened. Obviously this news source is not giving the entire picture of the governments plans for new airports. FYI sangley will be the location of the NAIA replacement it will be worth $10 billion and will be constructed in 10 yrs time
