    Unfortunately with Hunter you can’t change the batteries. They are supposed to last about 10 years according to Hunter, I seen them fail after 5.

    Phil can you confirm that the test button ceases to operate if the cork discs are wet due to the expansion of the cork? I had to return a WRF-CLIK b/c of this reason. The replacement once it got wet, did the same thing. No where in the manual, nor Hunter Industries, told me this. They said the button should work even when wet. So far this has not been my experience. Can you confirm?

    I have a Wireless Solar Sync that includes Freeze Click technology. I'm guessing the Freeze Clik sensors are the small discs in the spindle button portion of the WSS? If so, how can they be accessed? They look dirty too.

    So glad you sell these replacement washers - less expensive than replacing the whole unit but I may have to even do that soon because my unit came with the house built in 2002 so it's the old style with the wire antennae. QUESTION: when I took this old sensor apart there were 7 discs not 8. Is that how many the old units had? If I put on 8 it immediately turns off the receiver even at 1/4 inch? Any ideas?

    • @philinapex
      @philinapex 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it is a Hunter sensor, most likely there was 8 discs. It could be possible that two of the discs have fused together over the years so it appears like you only have 7. Regardless, if you are having issues with it turning off way too quick, you can always try removing one of the discs. or if you have a sensor with an adjustable cap, you can just go up to the next higher setting.

    I ordered your disks, without a washer, before I opened my sensor (it was raining). After I opened my sensor my disks were not too bad, but I could not find a brass washer. My sensor is about 3 years old. Did Hunter make some sensors without a washer?

    • @peterprince4452
      @peterprince4452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I received my replacement discs in the mail in just a few days and took some time to understand how the rain sensor works. I took the parts out of my sensor, including the discs and the center spring . I washed the chamber out thoroughly. It was full of tiny critters and debris. You may need a tweezer to replace the spring back in the center. I placed the new hydroscopic discs on the spindle, keeping them dry. If they get wet, you will probably need to let them dry out before they will assemble properly. The way the sensor works is: when the discs get wet,, they expand, pushing the assembly down, operating a switch in the bottom of the sensor, transmitting a signal to my remote receiver next to my Hunter Irrigation controller, turning it off. My Rain-Clik works GREAT again. BTW, my sensor did not have a brass washer. Thanks!

    • @southeastirrigationsupply7943
      @southeastirrigationsupply7943  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All Hunter Sensors should have the brass disc... if you did not have one in your sensor, it must have been inadvertently left out during manufacturing. You can easily buy one at the hardware store if you want, however, it probably will work fine without on as all the rain bird, toro, and irritrol sensors do not have them and they use the same discs.

    Phil, thanks for posting the video. It is a wired Mini Clik. Is replacing the disks the same concept as well? Do you have an email I can send you a pic of mine? Thanks.

    • @southeastirrigationsupply7943
      @southeastirrigationsupply7943  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mini-Clik discs are about 10x easier to change out than the WRFC in this video. First make a note of the rainfall setting your mini-clik cap is set to. Simply twist the adjustable cap from the top of the sensor and remove the cap / discs / washer / spindle assembly. You can then pop out the spindle from the cap and change out the discs. That's it. Put the cap assembly back together and lock the cap in at the desired rainfall setting. Use either of the links at the top of this page to go to my ebay store to order the replacement discs or the discs plus the washer.
      If you look at this video at the 0:15 mark, you will see him remove a cap from the mini-clik.

    • @southeastirrigationsupply7943
      @southeastirrigationsupply7943  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a spring under the spindle / disc / cap assembly. just drop it back in around the vertical post in the body, then put the cap assembly back in.

    My sensor stays RED even with 10 days of no rain. Could this be the battery or discs or something else?

    • @southeastirrigationsupply7943
      @southeastirrigationsupply7943  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be either... IF the discs are permanently swollen, they could be holding the switch down causing it to stay off... Or it could be a battery or wireless transmission issue also. If you take the cap (with the discs) off and it goes to green, it is the discs.

    • @southeastirrigationsupply7943
      @southeastirrigationsupply7943  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The discs are not metal, nor are they batteries. They are made from a hygroscopic fibreboard that expand when they get wet.

      This is from the manual online for the Hunter Wireless Rain-Freeze Clik:
      Battery Life
      The Wireless Rain-Clik transmitter is designed to operate
      for at least 5 years with its sealed, maintenance-free
      battery. The transmitter is available as a replacement
      part (WRCLIK-TR). Should you need to change the
      transmitter, the receiver will have to learn the new
      transmitter address.
      To Check the Status of the Battery in the
      Transmitter
      1. Press and hold the quick response spindle at the top of
      the sensor.
      2. Within a few seconds the LED light on the bottom of
      the sensor will briefly flash.
      3. Release the spindle and the LED light will flash again. If
      the LED flashes, the battery in the transmitter is good.
      If you are experiencing problems with your Wireless
      Rain-Clik sensor, follow these simple checks first before
      assuming the unit is defective and replacing it.
