I would like to commend the commentators. It was so refreshing to hear positive comments while keeping the unnecessary talk to a minimum... wishing the NCAA would do likewise. Great job!

guys remember these are highschool gymnasts. Many of them most likely have no intention of competing beyond highschool. They are just doing it to have fun

this is equivalent to xcel platinum, or JO levels 5 or 6
In the last few yrs, MN has have lots of higher club gymnasts, including Level 10, coming to High School gymnastics. Annika was a level 9 club gymnast. The rest of her team never have club training. High school gymnastics, in general, is ALOT less competitive. They only practice a few months out of the year, not year round.
I mean this in the nicest way possible but my high school gymnastics team is a lot more advanced and we don’t have commentators I wish we did though.

some of you need to realize that some people dont start gymnastics super young and dont train super extreme. if i kept doing gymnastics i probably would have been doing what they’re doing. they arent training to be elite. they’re doing good
Funny the female commentator said “giants are done by men on high bar and that it’s nice seeing women do them”.. um, yeah, women have been doing them for years! Including high school gymnasts who still do club gymnastics and attain a certain level.
I'm from Canada. Our high school teams don't have this caliber of athletic ability

Some of these girls should not be competing. The technique is simply not up to par and it makes me worried that someone is going to get injured.

I know, right? The gymnasts’ feet could be a foot apart in their routines and their feet flexed as hell and they’d still say they had beautiful form.

why is high school gymnastics so watered down?? that's the only term i could think of sorry.
Most girls on high school teams aren’t on track to continue in college, as you can’t be scouted from a high school team. The girls with aspirations to continue would stay on a club team
Probably the same reason that high school football and basketball don’t look like professional teams . 🙄

@@sondousloussif8159 wow that's awesome! Level 7 skills have totally changed, for the better, since we left gymnastics then. Annika definitely was not doing these skills as a level 7, even though she was a very average gymnast at a very high quality club.
Here's a level 7 beam for her long ago. She got a good score back then for this routine, which contain, in my opinion, a lot lower level 7 skills.

I'm from a small town in Southern Ohio, and I wish they had high school gymnastics around here.

Didn't even know they had high school gymnastics. Is this like a recreational program? I can't see how a gymnast would focus on this and not progressive junior olympic program so they can get a college scholarship. This is just very different sport than something like track and field, football, baseball, etc.
Because JO is $500/$600 per month......and some families just cant afford to. Also some girls just don't want to commit to the 4/5 hrs per day, 5 times a wk training. High school is just for fun. They are here because they no longer want to commit to the extensive training. Lastly, JO requires alot of skills that some of these girls just dont have. Glad theres high school gymnastics....you don't have to be that top 1% and can still participate.

hey! high school gymnastics is veryyyyy different it is what a lot of club gymnasts do after they quit just because they love the sport! i was a level eight when i was twelve so that was a lot for me, but now i am in high school gymnastics and it is a very big adjustment. there are lots of stupid requirements and that is why a lot of skills look easy or weird!
