- A modern Mark Twain style adventure story, THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON tells the story of Zak (Gottsagen), a young man with Down syndrome, who runs away from a residential nursing home to follow his dream of attending the professional wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck (Thomas Haden Church). A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (LaBeouf), a small time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whisky, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor (Johnson), a kind nursing home employee charged with Zak’s return, to join them on their journey.

Zach was my very first friend when I moved to Florida. I’m so excited to see my best friend be in this amazing movie! We even were in a play of Grease together. I’m so proud of him.

I read online that the part right after where Zach puts his arm around him and he leans in was where they didn't know the cameras where rolling ie unscripted. Shia was feeling pretty down because his drunk arrest a few days earlier almost wrecked the show.

And it always helps when you get to see Love in it's purest forms. Tell me you don't act a little nicer after watching those best of humanity videos.. They definitely inspire me.

This was a GREAT movie. Went to see it on a whim. Couldn't agree on what to see with a friend. We both LOVE the acting of Shia LeBouef. Saw him in one of his first movies, The Battle of Shaker Heights.....I was in love with his acting. So glad we saw this sweet movie.
Agree 100% So done with the violent, horror, thrillers - do not want that crap in my mind.
Much prefer uplifting films.

I just finished watching this film. I practically bawled my eyes out watching it. This was a beautiful portrayal of brotherly love. It's one of my favorite films to date.
This is just like my brother David. 29 with Downs Syndrome who loves to wrestle and takes his shirt off. Love you David.
Alex Rosenblum Zach has a friend named David too that also loves wrestling plus he has amazing dance moves on top of having Down syndrome. He’s probably as awesome as your brother.
I wrestled with a guy named lance back in high school witch he had Down syndrome and he was a two time state champion before are junior year when they banned him because of they said he could get hurt broke his heart so I wrestled for him in spirt witch then I went two years state champ of course two different weight classes mine was 155 him 205 but I swear he was nothing but power my wrestling buddy I would always chose him to practice with because of weight and how he would never back down from a challenge from me!!!

Josh K what state are you in? A two time state champ as a freshman and sophomore with Down syndrome who was then out of no where banned. That’s a pretty big deal, that story must have been huge.

Zack is a good friend. I had the honor of getting to help direct him for some of his auditions. He is so easy to work with it’s kind of miraculous. Most acting prep is about breaking down the emotional wall we have built up in life and just letting the emotional truth flow out. Thats what most actors have to go through. But Zack doesn’t seem to have that emotional wall. There is no embarrassment with him. He’s just honest and truthful. He cuts right to the emotions you need and he becomes the character. He’s a truly remarkable talent and a genuinely good hearted man

The movie is already 1 year old!
One of 2019’s finest films. Shia Labeouf, Dakota Johnson, Thomas Hayden Church are all phenomenal. But it's really Zack Gottsagen that gives a star studded performance.
More movies of this magnitude have to be told to branch out to the community, it's so rare to have a film about a kid with Down syndrome.
Even a disabled person can have a big heart with a big dream. Being mentally challenged doesn't make you a good guy or bad guy. You can still be your own person. The pacing of the movie is very good and you are rooting for Zack to have his wishes fulfilled and not be let down. He even has a strength very few people have.
It's very touching and funny.

Yes I just saw the trailer on TV earlier and the release date is August 23. Movie theaters unfortunately don’t show dates two weeks in advance. Once it gets closer there should be movie times. I work at a movie theater, that’s how I know.
Shia LaBeouf is a generational talent, this movie is a masterpiece.

As an RN, worked 🏥with developmentally disabled kids and adults for over 30 years. I loved my job, the dear patients and great co-workers. This is a sweet and serious movie I 💖.Worth watching.

I’m glad I watched this movie and also just generally happy for Shia finding his way in acting. I always thought of Shia as an amazing actor but his personal life kept getting in the way of fully getting recognized for his acting skills as well as dropping the Disney child actor tag as he fit the stereotype of being a trouble ex-child actor but 2019 was a really good year for Shia with this and Honey Boy. I just hope he can maintain this positive wave and get back into being given good opportunities as he seems to have figured himself out as a man and actor. Would love to see him in a big movie that gets him Academy recognition because he really deserves it.

I saw this movie yesterday and i have to say that it is probably one of Shia's best movies. His acting along with everyone else's is phenomenal. You get sucked into the storyline where it just makes you want more. It'll make you laugh, cry, and care about what happens to these characters. I highly recommend this movie!

I saw this was running at my local theatre, and didn’t have a clue what it was. Watched the trailer, and it is now on my list of movies that must be watched! I love movies like this.
