- It's been almost one year that I have this fantastic creature.
His name is L.
It is quite different from all the reports and experiences with Veileds I've read about so far.
Almost every time I read or reserached about Veileds I was surprised at the kind of behavior that they have: aggressive, grumpy, lonely and do not like the human handling.
But all these months with L made me realize that they are affectionate creatures, who like the human touch, which eat into our hands, drink at our hands, and that they can get excited when a human comes near them.
Here in this video I tried to show the routine of L.
Every day when he sees me coming into the room, come forward so I can get him to take him to the two trees he loves.
He never tried to bite me, but once or twice got grumpy with me because I got very close very fast .
L does not poop out of the cage, he always drops the tree on which it is to be taken to the cage and then there is a place where he defecates .
He has memory, have a furniture which reflects the image and he, knowing this, try to get close several times this furniture. Then when he sees the reflection gets angry, but never bit me.
I love how they walk. It's like they're always trying to avoid stepping over something.
Same chameleons seem to walk like that whether there's no danger or there is danger, chameleons also walk like that to look like they're apart of the tree if the wind is blowing

Chameleons are weird, they try to walk slowly to be sure no one notice them, but they wear a flashy skin full of colors... it's kind of weird.
Where he would be from he blends in pretty well. At 5:24 he practically disappears into that plant.
Just picture that in a tree u would never see it I have a 6 month female panther cham and a year old male veiled and I still lose them in there enclosure lol

TruiteTeam this is because they use the colors in the wild to find mates, and defend territory from other chameleons, and show there feelings to other chameleons as well, they change colors depending on there mood and temperatures.

I absolutely love when it reaches up on its back legs and starts reaching. That was always my favorite thing to watch my veiled do.
Nice pet... Very quiet, and interesting to watch. It looks like it is used to the guy holding and interacting with it. It shows trust without any fear.

aww what an affectionate baby! ive had my veiled for two months and just now he likes my hand more than he does his enclosure! he definitely did not like me in the beginning but that was mostly my fault 😅

@@MaverickTyler he associated my hand with food and sunlight, rather than any harm! just being real slow and gentle with chameleons will get them to like you more, try to do this when they're young, as ideas tend to concrete in their minds when they're adults :)

I watched this open-mouthed with admiration and instant affection for this splendid creature. It reminded me of a visit many years ago to a pet store where I simply fell in love with a chameleon that seemed to be looking right into my soul and pleading for me to give him a home. I've never forgotten that, but I also don't feel responsible enough to care for such a demanding animal. Great admiratiion for this caretaker -- and for the chameleon! Bravo.

My veiled has claimed his cage so if I intrude without a nice greeting he will hiss and puff otherwise he will love to come out explore. Just the other night I went to turn off the lights and he went to sleep on my thumb... I felt like his mother :,)
Are they expensive pets(cage, food and the cost buy one) and do they stink?
Mine gets pissy like that also. Most of the time when I walk by his cage though, he'll claw at the glass and want out. He seems ok with my dogs now as well.
Overall he's a fun little creature to have around.

not quite. My chameleon costs 50.00€ for adult and 30.00€ for minor but i bought one for 35 from a friend as a minor
Cage is somewhat about 60 to 150 € but ive got a square ish terrarium which costs 50 € and is surprisingly good for him and plant are your choice
They dont stink and i cant tell if you were serious.

In the first few seconds, the way the chameleon came forward to Thiago says it all. Thiago's handling was gentle, never hurried--chameleon paced.

So god damned cool. I could hang with a chameleon all day and not get bored. One of the coolest animals on earth. Too bad they're so hard to take care of, or I'd get one.
Polyfusia Veiled/Yemen chameleons are pretty easy to care. If I can't Get an ackie monitor I will Get a chameleon

My chameleon is super easy to take care of. It’s not so much the care that makes them expert level. It’s their behavior and how fragile they are. My male chameleon is a jerk! Hisses whenever anything steps near him, won’t eat unless I’m not in the room, and screams at his humidity tank at night. He’s not the sweetest but they just take a lot of time and care. If you can put that into them, you’d be fine :) it’s not rocket science
