Funnily enough I always thought that Neuros "What" sounds very similiar to the way Anny mutters it out (especially when she reacts to things happening in videos, which is the reason I knew Anny in the first place). She was destined to be Neuros mama.

I will say I am glad Anny is at least open to changing the voice as opposed to just being entirely against it. I would agree with her take though that the way Neuro says Vedal, KEKWA, and what are too iconic to lose.
She isn't open to a new voice. She's pretty toxic with her opinion that it shouldn't be changed and is the reason the voice hasn't been changed so far, despite the voice being ready for weeks and the community being heavily in favour of it. She basically overruled the community to veto the new voice, because vedal seems to care what she thinks more than the viewers, for some reason. There's really nothing to give her credit for.

I don't think Neuro has to be the product of an ideal vision. That text to speech voice and simple model make for unintentional charm that just works for whatever reason.

Funny enough, Neuro just became the closest thing to a living example of the "ship of Theseus" paradox.

You are right, but her model and voice could still be considered superficial aspects, like if a mute human vtuber changed her avatar and TTS. But what happens if her Language Model gets updated? Is it still Neuro?. If Janus's Simulators Theory is correct, then Neuro could technically change her language model and still be Neuro, as Neuro wouldn't be the AI System, but the Self-Writing Character/Agent that is executed by the AI, and whose memory could be transplanted. As Neuro herself said "our consciousness is defined by our memories over time, so however we remember ourselves makes us who we are".

To be honest, I like her old voice much more but I think that's because we have been hearing Neuro that way from the start. I think we would get used to the new voice after a while and we would enjoy the new one too. Also I'm pretty sure Vedal would sometimes apply the old voice to give us nostalgic streams.

Deep down all moms wished their offspring stayed a child. Even though they also know they can't, that's not how life works.
This is especially true when kids grow up to be bad people, or just straight not to the expectations one had of their child. In the case of Anny here, i think I'm siding with her, Vedal wants to create Skynet, Anny wants her cute Google Translate sounding daughter. Good parents talk about these things and try to arrive at a compromise. Or divorce.
Look at that, i even ignored how this is all vtuber lingo and culture, that's how much of a happy family these three are at least at surface level...

Anny is suger, spice, n' everything nice personafied as a person and it scares me. I hear her voice for a split second, and suddenly, everything goes pink with floofy stuff and a crib.
Not because Anny is the waifu of everyone's dreams and thus kids, but because Anny herself is a baby and must be spoiled.
My overprotective dad instincts start up, and I'm only 26... too young for this shit.

Am I the only one that doesn't quite get Anny's reasoning on not changing her voice? I was so thrown off by the "she's not her anymore" comment because it just didn't make sense to me, a voice changing slightly wouldn't make her not her anymore if she's still programmed the same way.

its like a mother who cant accept that her child is changing lol, it isn't just her though, a lot of other people are like this too. The ones complaining might go away but the majority will accept the new voice & after a month will get over it
She isn't saying to not change her voice, just to keep her strange speech quirks that made her stand out. She spelled it out pretty plainly...

Vedal can do whatever he wants with his project but of all the things to 'improve', changing her voice felt like such an out-of-touch decision. Improve her memory of events, improve her interaction with the AI that plays the game, add to things instead of swapping out what people already liked.
It's a default vanilla chat bot voice. As much as people have become used to it, Neuro deserves more than a generic voice anyone can use don't you think? And also, people could easily mimic her voice and get her in trouble.
@@robr135 True, the case is that it is a voice that everyone is using. He should change it, but he can try to achieve a middle ground. Keeping the stock voice is only inviting trouble down the road as someone's voice is kind of like a trademark of themselves.
I mean besides everything stated the community massively agrees changing voice is overall a positive decision so it absolutely isn't out of touch. Also the new voice isn't even close to perfect as he already has stated. He needs to tune it more for it to sound fluent meanwhile also retaining the good classic neuro voice

The main reason he wants to switch her voice because he wants to switch to the next-gen TTS that can express so much more emotions and not just blandly as the current one
