when you rank the types according to particle size, I think silt should come before clay..

That’s very simple .... try to find Ipc at particular Liquid limit ... then use tan(x) = (Ipc/Wl-20) u will eventually get you angle

There is no need to derive Ipc. Directly plot Lw and Ip and you get the soil type. Why compliate the steps by calculating Ipc?

i have a soil assignment on atterberg limits, one question in particular im a bit confused on. Q) write a short summary of the soil properties and of how good is soil 2 as a subgrade material? Given i have all the results already for soil 2, how do i know how good soil 2 is as a subgrade material? and what projects in construction would clay be considered for? results were obtain by casagrande liquid limit test, cone penetration and plastic limit test.

Why the A line starts from 20 ? Why not from 10 ?

Because A line value is Ip=0.73(Wl-20)........ and when we put Wl(liquid Limit)=20...... Ip becomes 0.....hence it starts with 20.......
