We want our kids to put our mobile phones by doing social skills like reading and going outside. Or making arts and crafts. Also doing physical activities also is lack of sleep. Lack of education.
Teens don’t read for pleasure because they are often required to do so much for school. Like they mentioned they are given so much homework and don’t have as much time as they did 30 years ago. And also over the summer, many schools require summer reading. I know I never read as a teen because I was forced to read books I hated and were awful and so it turned me off from reading.
Jersey Carolina Yeah being forced to read the "classics" in school really turned me off from reading. They were just so boring. I didn't really start to get into reading again til after high School. Looking back I think some of the first books that got me reading again was the Harry Potter series. After starting to read those books I starting looking for other things to read and found plenty I was interested in.
I had a different experience. I hated reading because for one I couldn’t comprehend the books properly and second, because we had a video game console at home.
I didn't stop reading for pleasure till I got to college, then I had no time. Harry Potter changed the game for me growing up. But yea social media is insane.
We need our teenagers to read for pleasure for fun. Because banning books is not an idea like the killing Mockingbird. Or Junie B. Jones it’s a wonderful book from the selections that she has. Or just killing the Mocking bird selections. For some of the students who can read these books. For those who can’t read or parents of their child can’t read it find a book that they can read.
I started reading at six years old just because I loved it. I still read often. The only time in my life that I didn't really read was when I had small children and didn't have time. Maybe I'm more unusual than I realized.
Children should be able to interact with other kids. Even though adults shows poorer communication or social skills, self esteem by going outside interacting with other friends. Or just finding a great book to read also making a puzzle to put together or finding a word search book for our kids mobility.
I liked reading when I was young. I started to hate it around middle school. The books that they made us read were just so boring. In school reading feels like a punishment. You can't read anything you're remotely interested in. You have to read a lot of the same books that have been in the curriculum for decades. I'm sorry but there's a lot of good books out there but they want to keep recycling the same stuff over and over again. I don't know why adults think kids are going to be inspired by reading a classic. It was sometime after high school that I was interested in reading again. When I started looking at subjects that I was interested in I realized there's a lot of good stuff out there.
The great books are selected because they are asking you to get out of your own head and imagine a set of circumstances totally unlike your own. They ask the big questions, the kind that you keep coming back to and that you have a different answer to each year. They have memorable characters, flawed, complex, people you feel you really know and for whom you have empathy. The language they use is beautiful, skillful, challenging. If everyone just read what already interests them, they wouldn't grow at all. That's why your school asked you to read "boring" books.

We need elementary schoolers and high schoolers to have reading to help us with seance by knowing different types of weather and know different seasons. Because all the time we need to know about what is happening around the world around us.
As Martian Luther king said that kids are the future and we just need to encourage them. By giving them opportunities and learning. Because we use to vote on employment. Is just that Martin Luther king want kids to have a future with our boys and girls.
Also Martian Luther king helped us with employment to have job resumes by having a great fit for voting for jobs that we wanted. So we should be thankful of what he did.
horrible video. I presented this as a part of my Fahrenheit 451 Slide Project, to my shock me and my class sat for a good five minutes listening to stories about alligator attack victims. Total clickbait, beware.

You're part of the majority if you read as a kid, so not that unusual. Even today 3/4 are reading, as mentioned in this very video.

Reading helps with vocabulary skills. Reading for 30 minutes is not bad. Also if kids don’t play with other kids is lack of social skills.
