Small Scale Native Landscape for Urban Atlanta home

The owners of this lovely house located in the East Lake area of Atlanta contacted me about refreshing their front yard for resale in the Spring of this year.
This is very simple landscaping that will require no mowing and very little care after installation. The beds are a mix of one of our native, shade-loving sedges, Carex Appalachia. This spreading sedge is a textural phenomenon and provides many important ecosystem services for the yard. It is deer resistant and is a host plant for two different butterfly species. The seed heads provide important food for birds during the wintertime.
Also in these beds is a shade-loving groundcover called Phlox divaricata.This is an early-blooming species with quite a long bloom period. The center of the yard is a clover and wildflower mix that is already established and requires no mowing or care.
The foundational shrubs are one of our native holly cultivars, Dwarf Yaupon Holly. These shrubs are evergreen and grow to a height of 4', so they require no pruning.
