Synopsis:
Cheng Shao Shang is a young girl who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. Thus she becomes stubborn and untrusting. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.

She caught his eye at the Lantern Festival with her spirit and carefree attitude. She was unlike any female he's ever met. More childlike than proper or cultured but this scene clinched it. Her willingness to put herself out there with limited knowledge of medicine, ingenuity, patience, and boundless energy to help people that she didn't know is what cemented his feelings for her and started his pursuit to have her and marry her. He didn't want so much to possess her but to bring her into his world and have her love him as much as he cares for her. There is a big difference between him and other MLs. He listens to her and advices her. She is so young and she needs more life experience. What he shows in his gaze is what we should always see in the person we love staring back at us. It's a destination and goal that they want to walk in life with us side by side. They will butt heads through this drama and break up and make up but as long as their love and willingness to fight for each other are still there, they will make it. This spoils us for reality.

🌸 For such a toughened character as he is, he’s also clearly romantic in nature. He doesn’t have much in life except for his mother, men and now Shaoshang but he really does treasure what he does have.
Somehow I have the same behavior as the general, I’m a girl but I keep those little sentiments with me that reminds me of the guy I like.
I like the same man for 2 years already, but he doesn’t know. He sent me a happy birthday postcard before, and I still keep it with me, even when I go on vacations I take it with me haha

His older aide understands that the general’s only care is that she is safe. He has already recognised that the general loves her….while the younger one is only worried about the general’s health. That’s why he scolded Shaoshang and the older one pulled him up for it. It’s really a beautiful scene.

This is one of the best acted scenes in a drama. The Male and Female leads make their characters come alive before our eyes and the love between the characters flourish. Great drama and marvelous acting.

This amazing young lady is him in female form. He witnessed the annihilation of his entire family and friends and neighbours. When hate is that strong it will take a very very special person to even understand and be there for him and in her she is that and more she accepted everything he was and has done but the one thing she asked of him was never to abandon her that is her greatest fear. He did that he left her and she can not handle emotionally that someone she loved so deeply betrayed her. Her mother she had 10 years to build a resentment and fill with anger.
As far as I am concerned they are a match made in heaven and I truly hope we get another series so we can see them become husband and wife

6:11 General Ling and the two guards were surprised to know NiaoNiao had the informations, even though in her part was just talk seek. I think he was intrigued to know her more then.
The guards are really surprised because she was able to draw such conclusions having little to information. This is the moment when Qi realizes that she is as smart as his master (they think exactly the same), as she said what the general wanted to say. He understands that this is one of the main reasons why he loves her. As for the general, I would say that he is more proud than surprised. She did not forget what he said at the estate (when he asked to "steal" the map) and managed to draw the right conclusions from what she saw here. He is happy that he was not wrong about her.

It is a very small select group and these shows and films should never be remade because they are cemented in history as the finest duo's ever and i have missed a few off who also need to be up there. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and the original Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
These films caught magic in every way possible. I will NEVER watch others remake these.

Well they need to actually either use alcohol or heat
a clean knife and cauterize the wound to stop the bleeding and help prevent infection if they aren’t going to try and sew it up with a clean needle and thread. It’s such a dumb question to ask someone if it hurts. He could die from infection from the arrow. Considering how deep it was just bandages isn’t enough to stop the bleeding and that doesn’t prevent infection.
I was just about to post something like this. Glad I wasn't the only one who was thinking this. She literally just cauterized some guys stomach. Why couldn't she just stick a hot poker through it? Television logic!
Sometimes after washing the wound it’s better just to cover it up and let it drain naturally until you can get professional help. If you seal it and it hasn’t been completely cleaned you leave a moist place for bacteria to grow and infection to speed up.

@@janwahcaban2022 That’s okay. I actually learned it from the Vets. My dog injured itself badly and that’s what they taught me to do if she did it again. Once the bleeding has stopped, that’s when you can do this until you get medical help. Just keep the wound clean and covered.

But I was confused because I thought he was supposed to be for seven years so what made him come back in five

I wish the writer could've used another question other than, "Does it hurt?" after she removes the arrow. 🙄 Other than that, this scene was so touching between them.
Later on, he remarks that she was the only one who asked him if it hurt.
She asked him if it hurt because he hardly had any reaction but she knew it had to hurt. She was concerned about him and when she asked that, he knew she really cared about him as a person and not just his status/title.

Ya, the grandma is more the manipulative one.
The female lead is more the “Go ahead punish me see if I care, what more can you do to me that hasn’t been done.” Kinda person. Plus she grows more throughout the movie, from a young girl who’s upbringing wasn’t fare. To a woman who knew what she wanted out of her life, and grasped it with her whole heart.
