I just opened one a few days ago. Then, they suspended my account and gave me not good reson. I didn't violate any of the rules. Did the appeal and they said they they would not reconsider their decision. Esty took my $15 dollars and charged $ 1.85 extras. Just because you opened your store for a long time, it doesn't mean that they will not come shut you down for no reason. I will never shop or do business with Esty again.
I’ve had an Etsy shop since 2009. Not even a whisper of that for any shop I’ve seen. Have I seen lots of people saying this? Absolutely. I’ve ordered personal and supplies for my Native American items, and none of them have left, except one who left voluntarily for family reasons. That said, no one seems to be making even a livable wage on there lately except print-on-demand digital items only shops, for the last 2 years there.
they did the same to i start my second shop the 7 march 3 days after the update policies the took 20$ on my account and block me right away with no way to be able to explain they respond to me we wont reply to you anymore... they never gave me any reason and then they also suspend another shop i made before the 4 march so right now i have 2 suspend shop and one running, but im pretty sure they will suspend it also pretty soon cause after 3 days of arguing about the 20$ fee i just disclaim this transaction to mastercard, so im pretty sure they will close my last shop because of that
I tried opening a second shop a few weeks ago to re-design/repackage my tie dye apparel but Etsy automatically put my shop on a permanent suspension. They did get back to me, but I just decided not to duel with it and keep my name and the shop I have had for a while. I kind of understand why Etsy is having to take certain measures and put them into effect!! There's SO many scammers or people that just open a shop but don't do anything with it. The scammers are the ones that totally frustrate me and they even message you trying to act like they're Etsy or a customer.
I paid the fee to open a new shop and paid to put up listings, within hours they suspend my shop, I appealed and they would not let me reopen. This is robbery !! they wont even say why they suspended my account!! Then, they froze the chat so I couldn't even contact, emailed them again - no response. Massive wind up, I will never use etsy again.
The 2nd half of this vid calls out exactly what you're going through. I just started Etsy and won't even list anything because of the thousands upon thousands of stories just like yours. It is appalling.... I am so sorry. We need to get behind Starla and Pam in the vid below. Now is the time... th-cam.com/video/cANLV6EnlHM/w-d-xo.html
@@sparkle_1111 Fight back, I did for a month when they suspended my account with no emails from them. I talked to them for a month, everyday same story with a different agent, they don't care at all. Just keep calling them everyday and you will reopen it eventually.
After reading all these HORRIBLE experiences in the comments, with shops being shut down and money practically being robbed by ETSY, I'd like to ask you if you have a good alternative to offer. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Good!! I have dealt with scammer shops from Indonesia. I placed 3 orders for plant cuttings within a span of a couple of months. I found that it was the same person, raking about 1,000 or so of orders in a month and a half, never shipped anything, then just disappeared. Opened new shops under different name, even changed to shipping from Europe last time I was looking into it. How do I know it was the same person? He rotated same photos on the listings. Same hand, same moles. I had to file with PayPal to get my money back, because he was only taking PayPal. Under the new rule, scammers hopefully won’t be able to do this.
nope I have well standing shop. had to pay a fee of £11 to open a new one, gave all my correct details AND tax number. Shut down, no communication, suspended. still have my other shop ive had for years....... just weird
I have tried to open 2 shops that focus on a wildly different niche than my main shop does, thankfully prior to the 15$ fee, and both got suspended as soon as I posted my first listing. Both shops were completely original digital art prints that did not share designs with my previous shops or break TOS. No explanation given, just told to fix the problems they wouldn't explain were, then when I asked for an explanation so I could fix the claimed "error," my shops were perma banned. Etsy is going down hill very fast.
@@jakesdesignsrw6740 omg I was going to open a shop there, but I'm reading tons of stories like yours here, Etsy is supposedly banning people and getting away with their money before they can even make some goods. Now I'm worried, I'm in a tough place right now where I can't honestly let any cent go to waste and they are asking for Є15 bucks, like that's worth a good day meal where I live lol
Thanks for sharing about this! I don't mind the 15$ fees, but the ID/photo check with a THIRD PARTY is really a pain in the... I hate Big Brother, and try to be careful what I do online, so this is a big turnoff for me. I already have a shop I didn't do much with, but wanted to open another one eventually... I don't mind opening it right now, but I did hear that when you open a shop, you "should" build it right away, and not wait. Would waiting a couple of months or a year have a negative effect on the shop in terms of it being show or not to customers? or would it be best to use my old shop for my new products? I also heard it wasn't a good idea to do this though...
But it also seems like a bad idea to open a new shop. I want to start selling something different too. But I don't think I want to draw attention to myself w a new shop. Just going to expand my existing shop.
I closed my shop that i was doing since 2011. Etsy stole my money!!!!!!!! They put a hold on my money for no reason. It was nuts. And there is no way to even find out why or who to contact. Horrible, horrible, horrible company.
That’s how my husband identity got stolen in drop box, thief was able to get two forms of identification off the site and take control of his drop box. They then had a photo id and drivers license and tried hacking all his bank accounts.
Report it to your local police department, his banks, his credit card companies, etc. Get a police report. Then report it to all 3 credit bureaus--they require the police report number. He can temporarily lock his credit before you obtain the police report number, but to really safeguard his credit and identity, he needs to submit the police report to the credit bureaus.
After the latest round of changes, reviews, and discussions of what Etsy has become, the time I will be opening my planned shop is likely sometime next century. Definitely going to be using a different service, even if it requires more advertising work on my part.
Pity they are not doing more to protect sellers! Successfully opened my shop and paid the set up fee and then received over 15 scam messages, which appeared genuine, trying to steal my money! I have asked them about this and they said they will raise it with the development team!
Omgoodness that just happened to me and said I have to have $299 in my account, and if I have another method to pay, I said NO! I thought it was legit, too. Just opened my Etsy account, so mad 😠
@MsQsince2 if just been looking for hours for ANY Informationen about selling stuff on Etsy. We got the same scam stuff that requires 300 euros on your Kredit/bank account. What nonsense!
@@cassalynnvictoria1496 The way Etsy is going these days, they'll likely change your life again after they shut you down for no valid reason and provide no support. It is happening to thousands of people and isn't fair. I hope you are spared. Good luck!
Okay, thanks for the details. The first thing they asked for when I clicked open shop was $30. I don't want to lose money on a suspended shop, I guess I will just stick with ebay & depop
To be frank, there is so much badly designed stuff on etsy right now - people who are putting in very little effort - that Im kinda glad - although it will mean more competition for us more genuine sellers.
I am about to open an eBay shop. Legitimate UK business, own products, presence outside of Etsy. Holding back some money till orders have been delivered is perfectly legitimate, providing the timescale is also sensible. What does concern me however, is the digital ID thing. I am giving a third party whom I don't know, explicit details of my identity as well as giving them a selfie (I hate having my picture taken), which in the wrong hands would allow Etsy customers to be subject to identity theft in other arenas. I would be particularly annoyed if this process had cost me money for Etsy to then suspend a shop without warning, as seems to be happening to a myriad of new shop owners now? If Etsy are going to be taking money off people then not supplying the 'shop', then that by any definition is fraud, or obtaining money by false pretences?
Many state and government agencies are using third-party identification sources as well. I recently retired and actually had to sign up with three third-party identity verification systems in order to collect Social Security deal with Medicare and also deal with my states medical system. It’s getting to the point where it’s no longer optional and we have no information about these third-party verification providers.
Honestly I get it but it’s just another hurdle for some when they’re trying to create an online presence but aren’t ready to establish a website or other platforms aren’t to their liking….ive got an established shop but shared this with my BFF who’s been thinking of opening one so this may just be the catalyst for her to do it - thank you for sharing
This video grabbed my attention and I immediately subbed! I don’t mind paying $15. What my concern is why are they closing new shops? I get that they want involved shop owners and I will 100% be that type of seller! I am only weeks away from opening a shop. I’m in the process of building up enough stock to be ready for eh. (Yes, I’m very optimistic, LOL!) What if Etsy shuts me down, then what? I’m not seeing anyone commenting as to whether their shop was notified the hold was removed from their acct? It also sounds like there is no recourse which is very disturbing! My products are not Print On Demand. They are handcrafted……..you know, like Etsy was from its inception? Full disclosure….. I’m a bit freaked out?! I’m at a loss here and would greatly appreciate any suggestions from you Jess, or any other seasoned Etsy seller?? I know I could choose to open an acct elsewhere, but Etsy seemed like a good place to start, more like a beginner shop owner? Thank you, you thank you, THANK YOU ALL for any and all advice🙏🏻❤️
Hi, I'm currently nearly at the end of my research for opening my first etsy shop. It took me about 3 months to get to this point and now I'm very insecure that they take the opening fee and suspend the account immediately after it. Not sure what to do.
Hi Jess. I tried to open a new shop on Etsy yesterday. I tried to open a shop for the first time a year ago, unfortunately I made several mistakes when opening the shop, related to entering my information wrong (I didn't know that the bank account and the main name had to be the same name) and I managed to close that shop after months. And yesterday when I tried to open the new shop, with all my information correctly, and with listings of my own photographs that I was going to try to sell on Etsy (which there is no way to have copyright problems either, and all with mockups of each photo of very good quality) they charged me 29 dollars as a fee. And before I finished doing the authentication the red banner appeared saying that the account was suspended. Then I received an automatic email from Etsy saying that I could not open any store with them in the future... they charge that money, and then they don't let me open the shop, but they don't return that money either? Doesn't it seem like a scam almost? They should return the money at least to the accounts that they didn't let open the shop, I think that should be the right thing to do. Otherwise it's like a scam...
One thing they have done which is a deal killer for me is that they asked for my bank website user name and password. Maybe the company is going to try to keep this information private but if they get hacked the hackers may have access to the entire banking information of all the new customers and might even be able to figure out how to wipe out entire bank holding of sellers. The bank says never give this information out to anyone; that mean not even a reputable company or another bank or even the government (without a legal reason to access it). Etsy doesn't need this information. All they need is a bank routing number and one account number. That's all any company needs that is paying into your bank account or taking money out legally.
@@kelleyspartiatis4776 Have you tried to join Epsy recently? They have all new rules and regulations because they are letting China in. It's for real that they are asking for this because I talked to their customer sevice people by email. They assured me the company that's collecting the data is legitimate and safe. Etsy has becaome a source of info collection for the Chinese scammers.
@@kelleyspartiatis4776 They use it to link your account. They're not asking for it outright but in order to get paid, you need to log in through your financial institution.
I watch your videos and I wanted to ask a question if you don't mind? Would you recommend me to open a new shop or to close the one I already have open and rename it since I haven't had a sale yet in the last 4 months?
It took me 6 months before I got my first sale, so I would suggest just sticking with it. It is really hard getting that first one because your shop says 0 sales and there aren't any reviews, so people get nervous to purchase because they don't know if the store is trustworthy yet. Hope this helps!
Hello Jess! I’m stuck on the “verify your identity” step so that I can open my new shop! This is my first time on Etsy and I don’t have a business email that Persona asks for. How would you suggest I move forward? Get a domain? Get a business email? I can’t figure it out and the Etsy help team hasn’t been helpful in my emails with them so far. I will so appreciate any advice! Thank you!
I’ve had an account for a while wear I sell my artwork and designs on made to order products but had to pause it while I moved. The only thing I’ve noticed is the spam emails, I get about two a day. That’s insane! Have you heard if they are doing anything about that? Great video and thanks for the heads up!
Yeah, I started creating a business on Etsy six months ago but I never finished setting it up. I think I’ll just build my clientele on TH-cam and Medium first then just go to Shopify. They shouldn’t legally be allowed to hold your earnings indefinitely usually three months. Better tell our IRS that I bet they’ll be very understanding when it comes to your quarterly tax payments, not. Etsy should have been fine and sued a long time ago. Etsy can’t understand why so many sellers and customers alike are running away from them as for the $15 fee just to open we all know that that’s going to line their investors pockets. Good luck to all of you who are willing to take that risk. I’ll just be patient to build my online presents first.
I opened my Christmas ornament store Aug 25th (It's now Nov 6th) and I've made 18 sales. All have been delivered, I have 5 good reviews...and Etsy is still holding my money for 20 days. I cannot afford to cover my own print on demand costs/shipping if I start selling like crazy during the holidays. I just tried to get on with chat, waited 40 minutes for an agent then gave up. I will have to close my store if this continues beyond the 90 days they claim it goes on for if Christmas season gets busy. They're also taking their usual 10% plus 15% for offsite ad fees and I can't keep my prices competitive like this. I have two other stores; fairly successful digital product stores with 5 star reviews. Have never had this issue. Yes, the digital product is "delivered" immediately, but my customers who had their ornaments delivered weeks ago, I still haven't been paid for.
None of these will stop bad actors from opening an Etsy shop, but it makes it extremely difficult for store owners to start and puts them in a vulnerable situation for the benefit of Etsy. 1. Identity collection. Etsy will collect a vast amount of personal info, which is worth more than anything. 2. $15 non-refundable fee. Etsy had over 9 million+ shops in 2023; imagine how much money Etsy will make with new shops coming online for $15 non-refundable. 3. Holding your store income longer makes it hard for store owners, especially the new ones who are still struggling, but it will benefit Etsy because they can invest your hard-earned money longer. There are other ways to sell products. Sure, it'll be longer and more work, but we don't have to take selfies and enter our personal info into some third-party app controlled by who knows by whom. Moreover, you are in control, can build your community, and know your customers; hence, you can create customer loyalty, and the list goes on in favour of opening your store on your platform. Thank you for sharing.
Etsy collecting people’s IDs is a HUGE concern. It’s already proven it’s not a secure platform, it’s filled with bugs, bots, and scammers. Giving them access to your ID and data is asking for fraud and identity theft on new levels.
I agree, the ID collection is the deal-breaker for me. I've been working on starting my own handmade business for months, with the plan of opening an Etsy shop and (eventually) my own website. But now this has come along, I'm pretty certain at this stage that I'll be going with Folksy. It looks like a good alternative for UK folks.
@@nice2nettles Make sure you start your website at the same time and sell by advertising on social media. Arts and crafts go well with Pinterest business accounts, and your rich pins lead you back to your website and blog. They called rich because a link is attached to a blog or website. IG would be the same. Make sure you post regularly and at the same time. No matter what platform you are on, Etsy or something else you still have to market for yourself the same way but you won't be vulnerable to them. Most importantly, you know your customers and can begin collecting their emails by opting them in with free but valuable, short content or guides related to your products. You will create your community and customer loyalty, which is the basis for being successful. Have an abundant and successful entrepreneur journey!
My new store got put into payment reserve as soon as I made my first sale. After I had about 1k in my current balance and noticed none of my orders were in reserve I realised Etsy wasn’t transferring my funds even tho I had it set up daily. I emailed them and they let me know all new shops will have a payment delay of 20 days for each purchase + a payment reserve. Wtf and they said they can’t tell me when the delay will be lifted
I opened an Etsy shop connected with Printify for a new photography business I started just within the last couple of months. I recently got to the point where I was ready and eager to begin concerted marketing efforts when I realized that the Etsy messaging function will not allow me to reply to any message I receive. When I try to reply, I get an error message saying that my messaging is "temporarily suspended" and that I should contact support to get it reinstated. One week ago, I had an online chat session with someone there who told me that someone from a specialized team would email me to correct the problem. I still have no email, nor any messages from Etsy through the platform. The chat bot is now unavailable since that session, only showing me a copy of that conversation when I try to engage it again. Also, I've sent three emails regarding this since the chat session. Is this the kind of service I can expect from Etsy? How long does it typically take for someone to respond?
Hi everyone,i wanted some advice please,i have made some Christmas spiders and i am trying to sell them i have tried to sell on Facebook, also dollar store with more,i am not doing well at all, what am i missing ?
I've had my etsy shop for over a year to sell personal part and stickers and they just put a hold in my account until I add send them my ID. I get that I dont make a lot of sales and the shop hasnt been very active since Ive temporarily stepped back on the social media front which is were most of my traffic comes from. I get that etsy is trying to do better but it's frustrating that normal sellers have to deal with the repercussions of scammers who just want a money grab and who have ruined the site. My main hesitation is how will persona protect our data from being stolen and simply perpetuating the issue.
Hey Jess - if i am an artist and want to make more of a Print Demand style business until i can get a full studio open ...do you feel like Etsy is good for that? Spam sucks and I want to make real stuff with a message - but i have 1 room to live in and no big studio space at this time. Its always something i've put off because i cant go 100% ...tired of waiting. - ultimate question - will Etsy not appreciate my art & try to push me off? Should i go to a different place? THX!
The privacy is a deal breaker for me. We all know they collect your personal info not for ‘security’ but to pass it onto governments, which of course they receive money for. Etsy is pure greed
My Etsy start of fee was $29. Pretty steep for just starting but I guess in the long run it won't be bad. But at the time I was completely blindsided by the start up fee and thought it was free to start and the only payments were the listing fees.
Opened new shop, payed 30$, i got 2 orders and i was suspended without any email or information. 1 order was canceled because it was paymet processing note all the time.
I have a lot of designs to post, I am ready to take etsy seriously because I believe that my type of designs will be accepted on the platform, but I don't know why etsy don't want me to complete my hope opening, it's my first time trying to open an online shop but I have been stuck here for weeks, after I uploaded my details then my bank details, it got stuck....nothing else, I can't view my account manager, all my listing aren't active, it say that it will be active when I open a shop ..am confused...tired, I have emailed them too, no reasonable solution to this, is there a way you can help me
I opened my etsy shop in November from India and I had to go through a verification process including a thorough interview and pictures that showed my creation process. Then they took a week to let my shop go live and I had to upload 20 listings at once
I honestly think these are overall good changes. There are soooo many fly-by-night shops and soooooo much competition for people who are committed to selling good and legal products. There are tons of scammers and many targeting sellers. I have had several scam attempts. The first time it happened, I ALMOST fell for it. So, if this helps clean Etsy up, I'm for it actually.
I have an old, only listed 3-4 items shop. I want to begin a new shop. Can I get the 40 free listings from your referral to open a new shop? I know more than 1 store would need more than 1 email, but can the 2nd shop get free listings as well? Thanks for the update and information!
Be careful with opening a new shop. Etsy TOS in the U.S. requires all shops owned by the same person to be linked via the shops' About pages so it is visible to customers. If they're not, Etsy will shut all the person's shops and send an e-mail to the oldest shop, which people usually find in their Spam/Junk folder.
Thanks, as always, everything you share is perfect! I started the process of creating my Etsy store with my buyer account, but I stopped the process and would like to open my store from a new account with a new email. In the process I stopped, I entered my personal data (full name, ID, and address), but when I clicked save and continue, they weren't saved because I was missing a section. That means these details don't appear in that section of the store process now. My question is, if I open a new Etsy store with a new account, will that information still be stored on Etsy somehow, and will Etsy penalize my new store for using the same details as the first one, even though they don't appear in the first one? I hope you can help me! Thank you so much.
I have been trying to open up a shop on there and they keep saying we need to verify our identity but then we wait and wait and wait and don't hear anything back!!! How many times do i have to do that???!
This new policy is good. There are how many thousands of people that open or start a shop and never follow through, just taking up space on the platform. This will also reduce the many large manufacturers that are on Etsy
But I don't see how people are, "just taking up space" on the platform if they have started a shop, but never followed through? How are they impeding anyone else who has an active shop? Could you please explain that more because that makes no sense? Etsy does not promote shops for free, especially with no things for sale in them. And out of 7.5 million active sellers on Etsy, "thousands" of non-active shops is a minuscule percentage, and do not "take up space" on the platform. Things happen in life that will have made people who have started shops have to put them on hold whether they want to or not.
I just opened up a shop for passive income. I set my payment for once a week. It's been 2 days and my money hasn't posted yet I am expected to ship the product. At least eBay would take it out of your sales. These platforms are horrible if you need money right away. If you sell a product or service, you shouldn't have to wait for your F'ing money!!!!
I need an etsy for dummies book. I've had a shop for over a year. Never sold anything. I sell things on my own regularly. THEN, I recently got on and everything was gone. I don't have any idea what happened.
So glad I opened my second shop last month! But I can't post anything to it at the moment because etsy suspended me before I even uploaded my first item - it's been 5/6 weeks now and I've tried getting hold of them multiple times to get an update on my appeal and I've heard nothing so far - do you have any advice?
Same here. No explanation. No replies to my inquiries. No human to talk to. In summary, no customer service. As far as I can tell, they're relying entirely on an algorithm that flags potential fraud and never even looking into it. I will never do business with them. Too many horror stories of artists with $100k/year in sales being shut down with no explanation and no one to talk to. Start your own website and promote through social media. It's a longer road, but at the end you'll have a real business that Etsy can't shut down on a whim.
So many measurements for new shops, I wonder how are they supporting new shops then? How can a shop with 5 listings, 0 sales, and 0 reviews start selling without paying for ads (which also doesn't guarantee anything)
Okay, basically I am a professional Etsy consultant anf and a digital marketer specialize in ecommerce marketing. I work on updating the algorithm of Etsy store's to boost it visibility to rank higher on the etsy search engine amd also make use of sales funnel.
Their is a way how new store ownet will not pay for ads and they will ne getting view amd visit which will eventually turn to sales bit i will like to discuss with you in details
Thanks,I was wondering about that fee that nobody is tlaking about right now. Thanks for explaining. Now I am turned off for paying the fee. I will try another platform. ❤❤❤
They shouldn't be penalizing their Sellers bcuz they haven't figured out how to handle the "bad actors". If they think charging to open a shop is going to solve the problem, they should at least reimburse that $ in the first payout. Or, after 3 months Seller's should be able to chose if that $15 goes towards listing fees or ads. Something like that would be better.
I was thinking of opening an Etsy shop, I wish I had done it a few months ago now as I don't have the necessary photo I D, I tried to find out if there was a way to get around it but there isn't, does anyone know some good alternatives to Etsy for selling digital download art.
Plenty of businesses do it, they hold your money and invest it for a few weeks, make money off of that, and then return your money to you, even though they just used it to make more money for themselves. Dirty business tactics.
Even with a 15.00 fee if a scammer is using a stolen CC They will use it and pay the fee. What needs to happen is for them to confirm the CC legit and not stolen. Just saying....
I tried to open an Etsy shop and they suspended me right away and didn't give me a reason way. I appealed it and they said it was permanent. I think it is run by bots. I make custom reborn dolls. I did the whole identity thing.
It is a bot suspending everyone. I got the exact sane message as hundreds of other people, word for word. No explanation, they refuse to reconsider, good luck with your life.
The cost is $19 to open a shop that we all know isn't even going to give you that back in sales for months. I didn't know about this charge and just jumped through all the hoops just for them to ask for $19 to open the shop. I wouldn't have had to even do any of that if they let you have more than one shop on one account. I have a few other shops. So I deleted the new account. Etsy just doesn't bring enough consistent money for me to pay up front. I'd rather they take money out of the first few sales than to ask me to pay to open a shop.
1st Timer here! New subscriber too...wanting to open a shop for the first time. So much to learn and you seem informed. And a real person too! Lol. Going to watch a few beginner vieos here. I'm certain to have questions. Eager with the time to dedicate. Thanks! 😉👍♥️
Please no open an account on Etsy. I open an store they took my money for open an account and after they closed after enter all my banking info. All my info was real an correct. They say they will send me an email explaining why. The email never arrived so a file I complain according to this video because, no phone number for do a call. No explanation why. So after I received an email form a lady named Prianka I decide delete my account. She said " We've performed a comprehensive review of your account and the information you provided, and are unable to reconsider this decision" . Oh my goodness! I just asked one time why they closed my account without reason. They never told why. That is horrible!. I call my bank to dispute a charge and block them. Bad customer service.
I think these new fees for new shops are to regain some of their losses. Etsy is losing business. Sales are decreasing because of the economy and Temu as a cheap competitor.
I have a handful of my paintings lying around, so I thought about Etsy, googled it, and all the articles said free setup. So I head there, and turns out it's 15 bucks to start. Sorry, but I'm not even sure if anyone will even buy any of my art, so I'm not going to invest upfront into something that may never sell.
Etsy is catchy, and so is eBay these days. Never liked Etsy. But eBay isn't better today. I sold an item for $4.99 and customer has to pay $4.90 for shipping. (When i ship the item i have to buy the shipping label that is around $4.00) They paid me $1.99 total earnings. (Bank statement) I contacted customer service to no avail. The supervisor Leonard was the highest I could reach. After an hour and a half on the phone with eBay, the supervisor Leonard said everything is correct. I asked him do the math, he insisted everything is correct. It has been going on for 10 months now, same thing. I told them i will meet them in court one day so we can do the math.. THEY WILL FIND OUT..
Do not sign up for the 40 free listings, it will cost you more upfront for the set up fee. When opening a shop without the free listings there is a $20 (CAD) set up fee, but if you sign up with the 40 free listings the set up fee jumps up to $39 (CAD) which works out to cost $8.12 (CAD) more than if you just signed up without the free listings $20 + $10.88 (cost for 40 listings) CAD. this is a total scam, beware.
@@JessVanDenWhen I try to open a seller account with the buying account I’ve had since 2015, the cost is $39CAD($29USD). When I opened a new account, the price is $20CAD($15USD). No explanation. I haven’t paid anything yet. Trying to find out why the price is different
Paid the fee to open a shop and immediately took my shop down! No Refund, No Explanation! Absolutely crazy that Etsy is still going treating their sellers like this

They are doing this with every shop, if you write them an email, they will reopen it.
I have just opened yesterday 😮 now this makes me wonder if can happens to me
Same to me!
they did the same to i start my second shop the 7 march 3 days after the update policies the took 20$ on my account and block me right away with no way to be able to explain they respond to me we wont reply to you anymore... they never gave me any reason and then they also suspend another shop i made before the 4 march so right now i have 2 suspend shop and one running, but im pretty sure they will suspend it also pretty soon cause after 3 days of arguing about the 20$ fee i just disclaim this transaction to mastercard, so im pretty sure they will close my last shop because of that
I tried opening a second shop a few weeks ago to re-design/repackage my tie dye apparel but Etsy automatically put my shop on a permanent suspension.
That is straight up theft! I hate how these companies don't have to face any legal consequences for this 😢
The 2nd half of this vid calls out exactly what you're going through. I just started Etsy and won't even list anything because of the thousands upon thousands of stories just like yours. It is appalling.... I am so sorry. We need to get behind Starla and Pam in the vid below. Now is the time...

Is your store now open? Did they reply to you? My shop is suspended at the moment too
After reading all these HORRIBLE experiences in the comments, with shops being shut down and money practically being robbed by ETSY, I'd like to ask you if you have a good alternative to offer.

The general consensus is building to declare Etsy is over! Time for a new platform that actually serves artisans and buyers rather than shareholders.
THANK YOU for this information. I just stumbled upon ur channel. I’m so glad I did. I didn’t know that you can actually have more than one shop.😊
nope I have well standing shop. had to pay a fee of £11 to open a new one, gave all my correct details AND tax number.
Etsy support is possibly the worst support online of all time.
Thanks so much for sharing
Going to open my shop now 🎉
That’s how my husband identity got stolen in drop box, thief was able to get two forms of identification off the site and take control of his drop box.
Tbf, Amazon do the selfie ID check thing and EBay hold funds at first too. So Etsy are just doing what other companies already do!
Goes way beyond doing it because other companies do it. It is literally a world government conspiracy.

This is my third sign today I need to hurry up and open my shop! Thanks Jess
Here is your fourth sign!!! Do it!!! Etsy changed my life.
Can't wait to see what you do!!!
They are probably working shutting down your other stores! Good luck for that!
If Etsy are going to be taking money off people then not supplying the 'shop', then that by any definition is fraud, or obtaining money by false pretences?
exactly my thoughts..
You would think this is a recipe for a class action lawsuit against Etsy. if they continue to close shops without refunding money. Nuts!
@@CherryBlawesome exactly!
How long is the holding period for?

Hi Jess good video :). Some of my friends are using Etsy SEO services to rank listing to the first page on keywords. What is your opinion on this?
No opening fee today. So this 20cent listing fee was there always?
Is your product something that would go over well at craft fairs? I know organizers are always looking for vendors with unusual items.
Pretty sure that would be a scam. No legitimate business would ask for your bank password.

Thank you!
Can you not use a gmail address?
Great info, thank you for this video 😊😊😊😊
I’ve had an account for a while wear I sell my artwork and designs on made to order products but had to pause it while I moved. The only thing I’ve noticed is the spam emails, I get about two a day. That’s insane! Have you heard if they are doing anything about that? Great video and thanks for the heads up!
I've heard a number of people say they're getting a lot of spam emails, too!
I’ll just be patient to build my online presents first.
yes, they just took the 15USD and then froze the account and talk, no way to contact them by message or mail
My shop is on hold today so where do I send an email to reopen it?
I opened a shop yesterday ,but theres no part that etsy required me a selfie ?? When im going to do that
It's coming wait fr it
I opened my Christmas ornament store Aug 25th (It's now Nov 6th) and I've made 18 sales.
Thank you for the information. I wish i would have seen this before i opened this account. i used my business too. ohh so frustrating 😢

That should work, as it's a new account!

I loved your kitty.
Payed the fee today but still cannot sell had listed an item a few years ago
I want to start a 2nd shop. But Etsy keeps telling me I’m barred from that. So I guess I’m stuck with one niche store
You cant create more than one shop under the same user e-mail. You need to create a new user e-mail/log-in to create a new shop.
Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Since you can have more than 1 Etsy store, I don't see that this should be a problem. Good luck!
@@JessVanDen thank you so much! You are the best!
If it reduces spammers and resellers, it will be a great thing.
Etsy are greedy, they take enough money from people in fees.
I think/hope you're right. They really needed to take some steps in that direction.
They will not get back to you. They are doing that to alot of people even those who have been very successful. Good luck!
I’ve thought about opening on etsy… i will not after all the stories about how they are treating existing shop owners.
Great info, thanks!
I was thinking of opening an Etsy shop, I wish I had done it a few months ago now as I don't have the necessary photo I D, I tried to find out if there was a way to get around it but there isn't, does anyone know some good alternatives to Etsy for selling digital download art.
Holding peoples money to prove you are a shop, until you have sales is not at all fair... what if you have things that are slow to get going ?
Plenty of businesses do it, they hold your money and invest it for a few weeks, make money off of that, and then return your money to you, even though they just used it to make more money for themselves. Dirty business tactics.
Great content. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Adorable cat!!! 🥰
She has her moments 😸
Even with a 15.00 fee if a scammer is using a stolen CC They will use it and pay the fee. What needs to happen is for them to confirm the CC legit and not stolen. Just saying....
Great information. Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Time to create a new Homegrown Buy and Sell platform for crafters and makers... We did it once, we can do it again.! 💪👊
I just came across Maker’s Market…? Anyone know about that? Experience…? Looks like there is Online and in person versions 🤔
All seller platforms is doing this in Europe. 😞
Random question, what screen recording software do you use? Looks slick 👍
I use ScreenPal.
Been selling on ebay for 20 years might stay there
I tried to open an Etsy shop and they suspended me right away and didn't give me a reason way.
I had to pay the fee. I just opened my shop five days ago now
The cost is $19 to open a shop that we all know isn't even going to give you that back in sales for months.
The IRS does the same thing with the photo ID and copy of a driver's license.
Etsy isn’t the government
1st Timer here! New subscriber too...wanting to open a shop for the first time. So much to learn and you seem informed. And a real person too! Lol. Going to watch a few beginner vieos here. I'm certain to have questions. Eager with the time to dedicate. Thanks! 😉👍♥️
For years, eBay has been doing the money holds for new accounts. I’m surprised that Etsy hasn’t done it sooner.
How many shop that one person can apply, I Know someone that run several shops.
You can have multiple shops.
(When i ship the item i have to buy the shipping label that is around $4.00)
They paid me $1.99 total earnings. (Bank statement)
I contacted customer service to no avail.
THEY WILL FIND OUT..
good job.
Thank you. I won't join etsy. Cheers!!! I am happy with their competitors.
Who are some of their good competitors that you personally sell on?
I think the one time Fee is a good idea. Its fair. I dont think uploading ID is a great idea though..
Like criminals don’t have 15 bucks to open an account to rip people off. lol
I have never heard of this happening before, has anyone else had this issue?
@@JessVanDenWhen I try to open a seller account with the buying account I’ve had since 2015, the cost is $39CAD($29USD). When I opened a new account, the price is $20CAD($15USD). No explanation. I haven’t paid anything yet. Trying to find out why the price is different
Paid the fee to open a shop and immediately took my shop down! No Refund, No Explanation! Absolutely crazy that Etsy is still going treating their sellers like this
Same seems like etsy become scam
Thank you for this information. I am no longer interested in Etsy. This info isn't good for protected LLCs and domains. I just discovered some legal issues with Canva usage and copyright claims (not infringement).
Too many people I see ditching Etsy. I won’t buy anything
