    How detailed is your game’s lore?
    40K invasion of Terra: “A bunch of biological freaks with demons from hell invade somewhere and try to kill a guy in a palace
    Battletech invasion of Terra: “Here is what General Smithington, commander of the 394th BattleMech regiment ate for breakfast before the final victory.”

    Central Washington native here: your pronunciation of all of the Washington and Oregon cities was spot on, no mean feat considering the various renditions of "Spokane," "Wenatchee," and "Yakima" I've heard in my life.
    I love the thought of battered SLDF forces pausing for a microbrew and bratwurst in the psuedo-Bavarian tourist town of Leavenworth as the newly-recovered leader of the Goddamn Black Watch regaled them with tales of her exploits over the previous decade.

      After I finished my part of the video I went back and watched Tex's "Guerra on Terra" for the first time in years. Towards the end he mentioned making the McKenna-class part 987 of Tex Talks BattleTech as a joke so I thought it would be fitting if I let him go over it. Probably would have fit better earlier in the series but oh well.

    There are so many things I would like to say and so many questions I would like to ask you about the making of this work. Suffice it to say I sincerely hope that the creators of Battletech realize the value of resourcs like the one you have crafted here. The funny thing is that I am listening to this during part of the day, and then I listen to Shelby Foote's massive American Civil War History and I find that there is a sort of battle going on in my head when I imagine mechs on the battlefields of VIrginia, and formations of troops arrayed Napoelonic style marching on Puget Sound. I am very proud of what you have achieved here.

    This is one heck of a campaign for Terra. WW2 in a more grander scale. Been a BT fan for a awhile and didn't realized how huge this was. Got used to the novels wherein the battles are regimental-sized at most and small skirmishes in between. I am amazed on how much resources were used by both sides.

      Thank you, I'm glad it lived up to your expectations. When I was working on the original intro for this whole series, I always knew I wanted to use that specific song from Kestrel Lancers, but I also had a vague idea of using the one I ended up playing at the start of this chapter for just this purpose. Couldn't really visualise how it would work though but when I plugged it in it all seemed to come together. I was so happy with the result that I'd continually rewatch those opening two minutes to motivate myself whenever I hit another roadblock.

    Malaysia Battlegroup? Maaaaan, I don't know what to say about my country being the first to be liberated, though I would have to say that I wished that I had like fifty sticks (or so) of mutton satay in front of me while I was watching this totally amazing clip. Other than Changi (Pronounced Chang-Eee like how we say the letter 'E' in English), you've got the names of the cities correct for the Malaysian campaign in Malaysia and Singapore, but that's not noticeable to people not from the region. Also... there was a Castle Brian in Ipoh? That sure raised my eyebrows.

    Springtime for the Periphery
    Winter for Amaris and the SLDF.

    • @foenrik8941
      @foenrik8941 ปีที่แล้ว

      Springtime? I don't think so. While they won the "Freedom War", it was by the slimmest of margins, and they had taken extensive damage to their own holdings. This time there would be no Star League Reconstruction Fund or Dame Catherine Humphreys to help fix the damage either.
      In addition, they'd been so focused upon winning the war that they didn't think on how to win the peace that was supposed to come after, case in point, all those anti-Star League terrorists that turned on them after the SLDF packed up and left.
      Oh, and the Rim Worlds Republic just collapsed. I'm sure they're enjoying that springtime though.

I was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and I'm currently living out in Western Illinois, so hearing about that certainly got me curious! Granted, there's not much out here, aside from the Rock Island Arsenal, so I'm not upset, but it does make me really curious what the games could do, given enough time, to possibly allow us to more-or-less LIVE the battles that took place in Operation Liberation!

      Thank you for the corrections. Sorry about "Madgeburg," that was me misreading the sourcebook and not bothering to double check the name. When did I say the Ruhr was in the East? That's probably a copy/paste I forgot to correct if it's text.

    Well done. Despite a few errors, this video is still the best ever regarding this subject. The only way to get any more detail would be the sourcebooks themselves.
    The nightmare is over...or is it?

    • @SvenVanDerPlank
      @SvenVanDerPlank  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For me the nightmare is over, but for the Inner Sphere its only just beginning.
      Are you able to recall any specific errors as I can go back and fix them before reuploading the 8-hour compilation later this month.

    • @foenrik8941
      @foenrik8941 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SvenVanDerPlank One was noted by another commenter here, WTFViewer, regarding a confusion between Eastern and Western China. I hadn't confirmed it, but as of this post it appears you have already have and fixed it.
      The other error was as the video transitions into the Unity City portion from 1:39:45 to 1:40:19, where the subtitles halt at mentioning the hunt for Outerbridge and skip over the description of Unity City's condition to mentioning Kerensky taking the field again. The swap occurs at 1:40:01, even as you're still mentioning the city.
      In hindsight, this may not be necessarily an error but simply omitting those details due to not having time to fit them in, but it seemed odd for the subtitles to skip over that portion completely without even offering an abridged version of what you were saying.

    • @SvenVanDerPlank
      @SvenVanDerPlank  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I've identified the problem with the subtitles. I must have switched paragraphs around in the edit but not in my script so when I uploaded it, those missing sentences cycle through over silence a couple minutes earlier. I'll make sure it's fixed for the compilation.

    Is Kerensky's return to Terra during the Periphery uprising actually documented anywhere, or is it assumed because Andery is acknowledged as his son? It strikes me as odd that he would head home for any reason (and the transit time on such a trip would be quite extensive, even during the Star League) while his forces were mired in some of the nastiest fighting that the SLDF had seen to date. I've always wondered, based on his birthdate and Alexander's apparent favouritism towards Nicholas, if Andery is actually scion of House Cameron that the Black Watch hid as a contingency right under Amaris' nose.
