Thanks so much for posting this. It is so good to look back and listen to the thoughts and feelings going into the Braves historic march into the record books.
I probably went to every home Padre game in the 70s. More fun that I could ever describe. Opening Day 1982 was one of the last games I went to before life got out of hand. Got to meet Rick Mahler that night. One of the nicest players I have ever met. San Diego/Jack Murphy Stadium was the best place to enjoy baseball in a relaxed environment at that time . Stadium was always half empty but the fans were die hards and the legendary players we got to see even if it was mostly the opposing teams guys.
@@uncletony6210 I lived in Lakeside and El Cajon. It was an east county party at the Stadium during the 70s. You literally had rows to yourself even at Field Level Seating. The Plaza level definitely and if you only paid a buck or two for the Loge seating you had the whole section to yourself. Best time I had with my dad especially on military night where those guys were lots of fun chatting up the kids of the vets like my dad. We went to 50-70 games a year. I was blessed beyond belief.
I love these classics. Please add ANY San Diego Padres television broadcast from 1977-84. I've been searching for earliest televised Padres broadcast and only one vs Pirates '81 is earliest.. ANY Mets,Braves,Reds, Giants,Dodgers, Phillies broadcast vs Padres from the 70s or early 80s? Please add to archives for fan viewing. That would be a treasure
In the video description: Mahler's Dad recorded this game on a betamax machine. This is why only Mahler is mostly shown and most of Braves offense wasn't recorded.
Anytime I can watch a 1970's early 1980's Braves game I'm happy.

RIP Rick Mahler
Rarum! Especially hearing Danny Topaz at the Lowery MX-1000- a very new fangled sounding organ in ballparks at the time.

Seems like the vast majority of fans were from east county back then (El Cajon, Santee, Lakeside...)

Ha!!!! I remember this game like it was yesterday. The Braves blew out of the gate in '82 like they were wearing rocket packs.
Wow!! This was great!! Rick was dealing!!!
😃👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I remember that 13-0 start in ‘82. I was 12 years old. ☺️
And The Famous Chicken, of course.
Thank you for posting this!!
Thanks for the post
Darrel Chaney's wardrobe stuck in the 70s
Mahler pitched a complete game shutout in his next start, as well. Beat Nolan Ryan and the Astros 5-0. Ended the season 9-10.
13-0 start and after an up and down season we won the NL West at 89-73. We were screwed in game one of the NLCS in St. Louis!
1982 Braves Managed by Joe Torre
What's the point of not showing 95% of the braves at bats
