- Some poi tricks and both cool and relatively easy to learn! Easy is a relative term, of course, but these poi moves range from beginner to intermediate tricks and for my money have a much gentler learning curve than others. Learn the basics of poi spinning with these awesome tricks for beginners that will give you a leg up to spin your poi like a pro! If you'd like to learn how to do many of these tricks themselves, I'll leave links to tutorials that cover basic knowledge of them down below!

Hi Drex, I'm interested in taking up poi as a hobby, but i have mobility issues and usually struggle to stand for any length of time. Could you please do a video on what beginner techniques one could learn from a seat/wheelchair?
I'd say that most poi moves are easy from a chair
Hi! Have you looked into contact juggling? Another flow art that can be done seated. That being said you can deffo get some poi. Shorten them and do some tricks like isolations, 3beat wave etc. Have fun flowing 😊
@@ElizabethFoxy thankyou so much 😁 i've never heard of contact juggling but i'll give it a look. Have a great day!
Just started poi yesterday an can’t wait to start learning from ya!
Thank you so much!
These tricks are so cool thank you for sharing this. Definitely have to practice the windmills more. Plus so want to learn how to do zan's diamond. These tricks you listed are actually really good plus inspiring me to learn all of them.
Thanks for another great video Drex! Also love the acknowledgement of indigenous traditions that inspired Western poi spinning styles :)
Thank you. I am just a beginner, but i love your Videos. Very good inspiration!
Great video, Drex! I am sharing with my flow arts friends. I actually have to admit one of my worst issues is windmills (despite doing poi and performing with it for over 7 years now) and other 2-beat weaves. But I have found videos to review them, and I love the anti spin steps you provided - will give those a try. Great tips!!
Yay! This channel makes me so much more confident about learning poi!! Thank you😊
At least someone make great videos about poi, merci mec !
I always watch your videos...because I inspired how you move your poi and I uses it in every Christmas season in Christmas party...😊I'm dancing with poi...😊
Wow, Drex!!! This has really gotten to a whole new professional level! Very nice job on the video. I’ve been learning from you for years and I’ve learned a lot of cool tricks. You’re a huge motivation and I’ll continue to to support you.
Gracias desde España
I feel you on the butterfly pain :D
What poi are you using in this video? Very nice!
I..... Wow. I just had that moment I haven't had in years. I have been very nonchalantly leisurely spinning in basic-land for over a decade, and never quite landed antispins. They kind of happen, but I always accepted the imperfection due to my lack of drilling planes.
But I watched the breakdown, rewinded and watched it again, put down my phone and said, "...what?"
Dug out a poi, tried it out, and *click*. Man I miss those clicks! What a good feeling. Thanks, Drex!
(And I totally had my pitchfork out).
Might I add, the click was for not only the flowers, but stalls in general 😅
This story made me so happy! Thank you so much for sharing it 😊
OMG.......your poi windmill, just helped me with flexi rods windmill with My Church flagging.😢😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Can I ask how did you made that light-tail effect in the video? Was that in post production or did you use like, shatter speed in your camera?
You made the last two tricks look much more manageable than I expected, but you were only using one hand. Doing two hands at the same time is where it's difficult.
You can do both in together same and that's a reasonably low impact way to get both hands involved, but yes if you want to do any other timing and direction mode it's going to be a little more of a challenge.
how applicable is the Diamond and the flower (the last two tricks) with Fire poi? just "not using" one of them is not really an option while on fire, is it possible to do these double handed and with two poi?
Hmmm... gotta get back to spinning. Maybe I can finally learn thread the needle!
I believe in you!
💫
Bro my name drew too. Man ur sick. My style so different.
What kind of poi does he use?????
Do you do poi still now ?
Did so last night, so yes.
Wait you learned to do this in the late 2000s ?
whatever I do, my Poi end up right on my face, I wonder where I'm going wrong😢
try holding them farther away and swing more outward! my friend taught me that
Your video has no sound, dude 😢
I just watched it and there is sound
