I had time this week to make a quick and dirty video about repairing the Kawai K4. Sorry about the camera audio, it's not the greatest!
This K4 is working but some buttons are less responsive than others so I decided to replace them all. Also a single key is less responsive which is a lot easier to fix.
This is the type of button you need if you're looking to replace the ones in yours: www.rapidonlin...
The sysex data to restore presets is here, scroll to the K4 section:

Extremely usefull video. Thank you for this !
You're very welcome, hope you find it helpful 😁
I'd love a desoldering station. Makes things so much easier. I use a pump like yourself and spend most of my time swearing at it! I really need an extractor as well.
Oh I didn't even know they existed 😄 Yes there was quite a bit of swearing off camera here too!
@@ChrisLodyMusic I tried to link to a TH-cam video showing a Hakko desoldering gun but TH-cam deleted it. Anyway, if you search for 'Hakko FR301 Desoldering Gun 6 Month Review' you'll find it. They're quite pricey! There must be a cheaper alternative. Ah, I see he mentions a cheaper alternative.
Oh nice, thanks for trying. TH-cam seems to react randomly to links in comments!
I picked up a Velleman desolder pump for £7 a few years back and it’s saved me a lot of swearing!
@@hollywood4834 I recently picked up a Yihua 929D for £15. I've not used it yet but it seems to get rave reviews and looks very effective. Basically a soldering element with a hole and a manual pump.
