What a wonderful song!!!!! The vocals were out of this world. The orchestration along with the drums and the guitar solo were fantastic. The male choir was a good touch!
Tobias is brilliant man...Another fantastic song by them. I love their last record (Ghostlights) but this song is their best release since Scarecrow in my opinion , I mean, Hansi, Jorn and Tobi in the same track ? How epic is that ? Glad you liked too ! By the way, Merry Christmas man !
I throughly enjoyed your reaction :) It's nice to experience this song first without the lyrics, so you can be enchanted in a more pure way. I first heard it with my eyes closed in the dark. You really can't get a full understanding though unless you listen several more times, which I'm sure you've already done by now ;) At least for me, I need many listens for songs like this to sink in. And some other people have let you know, but most of the views are on Nuclear Blast's official lyric video version. It's the one most of my probably 40 views are located on. If you haven't yet, check it out. The pictures chosen are beautiful and help set the atmosphere, plus Avantasia lyrics are important. If you have time, you might want to read through the comments on that video too because people are already discussing theories (including me). It's difficult at the moment to provide a full interpretation because as a single it's out of context of the rest of the story. But, it seems to me like the protagonist (Tobi) is feeling like he doesn't fit in or is being excluded from his community. He chases after the light, but the dark finds him instead. Jorn's character is always some sort of "dark force", and while he was kinda the antagonist (Mephistopheles the demon) in The Wicked Trilogy story and represented "temptation" in Ghostlights, he already sounds friendlier and more welcoming in this song, but still "dark". But we really need the rest of the album. :) The Raven Child does seem to be a new fan favorite! Everybody has a different favorite song, but there are certain ones that have a large number of "cult followers". And The Raven Child is quickly gathering its own following. :) Since you haven't heard Let The Storm Descend Upon You yet, I can forgive you for that one not being your favorite (I'm kidding I promise!) Nope, this song only features Tobi, Hansi, and Jorn. I read on Facebook somebody being confused and thinking they heard Geoff Tate singing, but he's not in this song. Maybe you thought you heard him too? If you want, you can let me know which part of the song you think you hear another voice, and I'll tell you if it's Tobi, Hansi, or Jorn. :) For your information, the album is set to be released on February 15th. Preorders are already available, but if you just want the regular CD it doesn't matter much. If you're interested in a limited edition or vinyl though you really gotta preorder. There will be a bonus track on some limited editions but not the regular CD if that makes a difference to you. Aaaaaaand, you should be made aware that Avantasia will be coming to Montreal in May as part of their tour. If you can fit it in, I highly recommend going. (I will be going to Worcester.)
@@sk16486 I was talking about the comments on the Nuclear Blast official lyric video th-cam.com/video/CTN2ZzpQRh4/w-d-xo.html It's died down a lot since the video was posted though. Still bunches of new comments, but fewer people replying to others and making discussions. If you look at the comments from the first couple days, there's more of that. Probably not as much as you might want though, unfortunately. I know I replied to several people with information on symbolism and language comments. If you'd like, you can ask questions on there and I'll swing around and start a discussion with you :)
What I really enjoyed about your reaction was that you TALKED. There's always the track and the official video for anyone who wants to listen. I came here to share in your emotions and feedabck AS YOU EXPERIENCED THEM and this was exactly what I got. It's like listening with a friend. Thanks mate!
Thank you! I wish everyone understood this. I get a lot of comments saying I missed things while talking, but I am wearing headphones. I hear everything even while talking. I did just finally get the album a couple of weeks ago as well. Great stuff!
I loved the metal operas from Avantasia, I enjoyed Scarecrow but not as much as the double album and recent stuff I was not that much into, but this one, damn, always a pleasure to hear Jorn Lande and with special featuring of Hansi Kursch, I can't get tired of hearing it.
Had mixed feelings on this when it first debuted but has grown on me since after more than a few listens. Got my Avantasia tickets in the pit for the Chicago show in May!
I enjoyed this song. My fave Avantasia song is "Master of the Pendulum" with Marco Hietala but I cant wait for this new Album and to see Avantasia Live in May in one of their only 2 Australian shows
Try Ancient Bards - Impious Dystopia, from their upcoming fourth album. Their other three albums are excellent so I'm sure this one will be awesome too. Great use of orchestras and choirs in their stuff as well.
Love this song-- Avantasia has some great stuff.....Ever watch Michael Kiske hit some huge notes? Amanda Somerville and Kiske did a couple albums too. ( Somerville is the Blonde singer in Avantasia shows...) She has a remarkable set of pipes( almost Floor Jansenish)
It only has so little views because the ''official official'' video is from Nuclear Blast. The video you reacted to was uploaded by Tobias himself and it's been taken down, what an irony :D But you should definitely check out the Blast's official lyric video by yourself in the nearest future, it's gorgeous and has a stunning 3D effect I've never seen before.

'Let the Storm Descend Upon You' is a fucking amazing long song as well, can't decide between those two.
@@FlaskTheTapir I agree, but I prefer this one, because or the dynamics and because of Hansi haha
In the same track i wish: hansi Kursch, Fábio Lione, Michael Kiske and Matthew Barlow!!
Love how towards the end after the choral bit Tobias is just like "Unleash Jorn..." and he absolutely smashes it
This song is amazing. Glad you like it
Tobi went above and beyond here.

Yea Tobi did it again! I think the upcoming album (Moonglow) will be if not better than definitely as good as Ghostlights!

Another great track .Should of reacted to the official lyric video though. Thanks for all the vids!

Hasn't Amanda Somerville coached both Floor Jansen and Simone Simons at different times?
She has-@@Fedorevsky - She even filled in for Simone( Epica) while she recovered from an illness...

Yeah it was only up for a few days I believe
Taken down? It's still there though.... I just clicked on it.
Feel free to link the video here then. I'm pretty sure you're talking about a different one.

Merry Christmas to everyone
Welcome back, buddy, bin miss you xD \m/
You should do Brainstom's Jeane Boulete (1764). That song is epic.
Merry Christmas.🥃🎄
Nice Reaction
Great review dude......but pronounce his name as Jorn ( YORN ) Lande ( LAWN-DAY ). :)
I wanted YOU to react to this
I am glad that I did! :)
I dig this song but there's def something missing. Possibly the lack of guitar riffs, Idk. It's def a great track either way.
I think the drums during the solo could have been more present. But yeah its a very vocal heavy piece
