I personally think that Perf's low-tech "old-school" method of pen-and-paper presentation is BRILLIANT!
1-He makes the lesson "personalized", you see an actual human being writing down the lesson manually with pen and paper in real-time as the lesson unfolds, rather than some talking head giving a sterile presentation of subject matter using fancy generated graphics.
2-He encourages the student to follow along and take notes of the lesson using pen and paper, instead of just relying on the student to remember by pure memory power alone. He is actively engaging the student by making the lesson an interactive process involving physical ACTIVITY. This forces your brain to internalize the lesson quickly, because you have to focus and pay attention, writing stuff down in real-time, just like how students would do in a live classroom in school.
3-At the end of the lesson, you now have your own personal lesson instruction manual. You will actually be able to understand it easily, since your hands, guided by your brain, made it.
Ngayon... Saan ba ako makabili ng Cattleya na notebook at Reynolds na bolpen? Gusto ko kase authentic na Pilipino guitar lesson hehehe

I’ve been playing guitar periodically for a number of years and I’m a visual learner so this is perfecto. I’m gonna purchase one of your tshirts for support because you impacted me that much. Truly one of the best teachers I’ve come across. If you want you can check out my style on TH-cam, Summerbreeze by Matthew James. Thanks again and God bless.

Hi perf, I taught myself how to play the guitar 10 years ago from reading tabs and youtube videos. I would call myself an intermediate player, and I got stuck there for a while until I found your videos. I have recently started getting back to music, watching your videos motivated me to go the next step. Learning about Key signatures and how to correlate them to the guitar when jamming with my friends, makes the experience much more fun. Thanks a lot, keep it up. You are helping a lot of new musicians each and every day. I like the merchandise also.

I never thought to think about the notes beyond the 12th fret and now I see a clear picture, that it's just a repetition of the open string notes near the nut of the guitar.
That makes it easier to do and understand the scales after the 12th fret. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your efforts! This is a really a concise and easy to understand primer for guitarists. One thing I found personally helpful for internalizing the major scale formula on the fretboard is by simplifying the formula even more. By assuming every step on the fretboard is two (semitone) steps to go up a note by default you only need to remember the B>C and E>F transition exceptions. It may seem trivial (or obvious), but this in effect eliminates the thought process of figuring out where you should apply two steps.

Man this is the best method I have seen in years! After 30 plus years of paying as a hobbyist, I can now memorize the notes of the fret the way you laid it out here! Salamat!

Damn for many years of searching and watching tons of tutorials, this one simplifies everything you dont have to memorize everything instead you understand how the theory works not like other tutorials full of bs and leave you hanging so that you keep on watching their vids but this one is straight to the point... Thank you for this I hope you keep on sharing more ideas and knowledge.

Each and every channel when people find something very new, they say, this is the best, that is the best. Why flattering a musician ? . Just say - Thank you and learn .

@@RameshKumar-ng3nf Yeah but I don't think the same person comments that on every tutorial video of different channels. People mean it when they say it because they found a specific channel that fits their learning habits.

I’ve seen multiple videos and have a few books on music theory and they always lost me with the fretboard and the letters this has to be the simplest explanation that I’m actually able to follow along with im probably gonna have to do this as a mental exercise for a couple weeks like homework just to really memorize it but it’s something that definitely helps thanks!

watched a dozen videos on music theory but I had trouble understanding. Drawing it all on paper really helps! The other videos were decent, lots with a million views, but this lesson is by far my favorite and most memorable. I spent a long time in college so writing notes on paper makes it easy for me lol. I will draw the fret diagram and start practicing the notes on my electric guitar. Thank you so much!
