Mamamoo are an impressively unique group. You can tell they haven't been churned out and trained to be "perfect" by a company and instead are just great friends making great music who also happen to be great talents. It's refreshing and exaclty what KPop needed, it's become too "military" in it's approach
3 years later, but I can say it's because the CEO wanted a group of artists not idols, they were given big participation since the debut, which is hard nowadays for most groups, and mamamoo came to bond really strong in their predebut years, that's why it feels so natural, they are in charge too not only their company.
Cherry Darling Not only that, they are not surgically altered to the Korean-caucazoid “ideal”. They are all very unique looking in a way you don’t see in any other group. Personally I think they are the most beautiful women in POP, let alone Kpop, it kills me that they were shamed into believing they were going to have to work “harder” because they were less pretty and shorter than the “standard”. Oddly enough, their music is way more perfect than the studio groups that fail miserably live. This video is a perfect example of how true artists can clown around, change lyrics and choreo and STILL sound like it’s studio produced. Nothing short of amazing. First time I have seen this performance of Piano Man and now it’s one of my favs.

In my opinion, theyre both very talent group with incredible stage presence... but their styles are very different. MaMaMoo is sexy, classy and cool in their own way. I respect 2NE1 very much but its MaMaMoo that owns my heart.
