This was the first lick I ever heard from the Empress of FUNK while blasting Soul Train on Saturday afternoon when I was 10 years old. It completely blew my mind. I wore out 3 copies of this album playing it non-stop on the record player. It was LOVE instantaneously. And still is. I seen Rufus live 1977 or 78 in Kalamazoo MI $7 general admission . After entry we would always work our way to the front row next to the stage so close we could feel the sweat. Strange *NO SHOTS FIRED* Only boy meets girl days.
I'll admit that during this time that coincided with my UCLA years, most people that new me or of me new that Chaka was my lady at least in my mind musically while I was on the dance floor at least, she really did it FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!! And Rufus was one of my favorite musical groups.
