  • We spent the week at the Vidanta Resort in the Riviera Maya in Mexico. We were stuck in our room because of a hurricane so we decided to make a pro and cons video of the Resort. The video give you facts about the resort and our opinion of why and why you should not stay at the resort. We hope this video will give you information to decide if this is a resort is a place for you to stay at.

I loved the Vidanta,, he is complaining way too much. If you don’t enjoy walk in they have golf carts to take you around and driving the view is amazing..You get to see some awesome animals

@TravelingAtoZ my relationship is like this too. I'm very optimistic; my husband tends to be more pessimistic. However, I think when two people come together like this, you create a wonderful balance in each other. I help my husband open his heart... and he helps me realize not everyone wants to be my best friend! 😂❤

If you got into a resort that is in Playa del Carmen that is not all-inclusive you could eat in town almost exclusively, and if it came with a kitchen, you could go to one of the grocery stores in town to stock up a bit. We do that frequently, especially at Vidanta in NV. If you are interested in a nice but more compact resort with an all-inclusive a little closer to Playa del Carmen, take a look at Hacienda Tres Rios. Even there we usually go into town to a grocery store to make some of our food in our room. We own at both Hacienda Tres Rios and Vidanta and sometimes stay at Sunset Fisherman's that is actually in a very nice part of town. These are timeshares but you can get in without owning via direct purchase. I would not pay for a complete all-inclusive package at Sunset Fishermans, too little variety. There are two restaurants although it is rumored that there may eventually be 3. There are other places in Playa del Carmen but I do not know as much about them. There is the Palace Resorts and they are more compact but even they are very Americanized in terms of food.

@@TravelingAtoZ No problem, Hacienda Tres Rios rooms do not have a complete kitchen. Sunset Fisherman rooms do. Haven't tried it recently, but Hacienda Tres Rios used to allow you to request a microwave so you could warm up food.

Lol. Loved your review. We have been at the Vidanta resort twice. The first time I also was not impressed. Got lost many times trying to walk from point a to b. Beach was way to far away and the resort definitely does not want you to leave. Felt like the hotel CA song in real life.
Went again just last year during covid. Needed a break from the chaotic world and with our time share we can book at Vidanta for very cheap so we tried it again.
The second time we actually had a great time. Granted it was empty due to the pandemic. They now have a map for you phone which made traveling around the resort a bit easier. We also knew to book a room nearer to the beach where most of the restaurants and activities are.
We thought food and drinks were excellent and you are spot on that even the employees don’t know how and where thing run or are.
The Jin gala river park, newer attraction at the resort was excellent. But again we were the only ones there due to the pandemic. We literally floated along the lazy river alone and floated up to the bar countless times and were once again the only ones there.
My wife also has a gluten issue and the restaurants were very accommodating.
Yes stay away from there damn time share presentation. It is almost half the day and they hound you. We actually unplug our room phone so they leave us alone.
Big bummer is the beach is all coral but the pools are fantastic.

I think that his commentary is super helpful though. This is all about using your budget to make this vacation happen. Not only are you having to come down to Mexico for this trip, but you are also having pay the non all inclusive pricing for everything.
Comparing this to a cruise, all-inclusive feel with the opportunity for upgrades when you are looking for it. Comparing it to just some hotel in the middle of nowhere that you are going to be paying some change to get into stuff, makes it a whole lot more difficult.
My wife's family has a timeshare here(partial ownership... so much fancier) and sounds like you better come ready with some change if you want to make it through everything.
    Thank you for the review!

We left after 2 days it was horrible after paying $25 for two burgers and fries and drinks. You spend half of your time waiting for the trolly train or whatever it is. :) The trip was free using points through government vacation rewards and I feel like they owe me money for my time. We ended up booking a room at the Aloft in Playa del Carmen it has a rooftop pool where you can relax and have some drinks it's right next to 5 Ave for $120 per night it's brand new and you can shop and eat at local restaurants. stayed there until that Friday then we booked at Secrets Maroma Beach, stayed for the weekend had a great time, it saved our vacation it was pricey but well worth it.

I understand both sides of the arguments here. Each to their own. I personally think that Vidanta needs to improve their transportation. I have stayed at Grand Luxxe and since this is the top tier, sometimes the driver will just drive you direct to your destination. I don't think this happens at Grand Bliss or Grand Mayan much.

    • @TravelingAtoZ
      @TravelingAtoZ  ปีที่แล้ว

Very similar to how my family felt about this resort. We left with the feeling that this resort tries to pick you up, flip you over, and shake every last cent from your pocket. The restaurant receipts would have tip lines at the bottom but then if you read the fine print, every thing you buy has a service fee and tip included which adds about 20% to anything you buy. A bowl of guacamole? $18 + 20%. A cocktail? $10+20%. The signage on the trails isn’t even accurate, it took us 2-3 days to find our way around and every. Single. Day. We saw other people who were standing staring at the signage on the trails. This place is not handicap accessible and would be very difficult to bring an elderly person. Additionally, we felt they augment the class system to an uncomfortable level. As the lowest tier, grand palace, you can ONLY use the main pool. The main pool probably has seating for a thousand, yet there are only 2 bathrooms with 3 stalls a piece for this entire pool. They only get cleaned in the evening so by mid-day they are horrendous and leave you wanting to either go to another pool or go back to your room, which as described is nearly impossible for some. Additionally, in the ads there are pretty beds around the main pool and other pools, those are frequently an up charge to use. It takes away the enjoyment out of the vacation and constantly leaves you worrying about things like “is this a space I’m allowed to be? How much am I spending? Is this thing an extra cost?” Thankfully, we actually rented a car so we frequently left but they made it very hard and absolutely track every single thing you are doing. Want your rental car keys? Need to give your room number and they won’t let you keep the keys on your person. Then they also get your room number at the gate going in and out. They also want to park your car in a car lot unless you want to pay for the valet parking. We left to get groceries and to do different activities. However, each time you leave it’s at least a 30 min activity just to get out or in. You have to walk to or take a ride to the transfer station and then wait for a loud, smelly tram to pick you up and bring you out to the main lobby. Now imagine doing this with bags of groceries… We had an opportunity to spend a day at an all inclusive hotel in a town up the road and it was SUCH a better experience for what would have panned out to be a cheaper vacation- this other resort provided bikes to get you into town, it was all you could eat and drink, and they quickly moved you between their pools and specialty restaurants with individual sized golf carts. We will never go back to vindanta.

Yikes. I was actually thinking of staying at this resort because it was so close to the Cirque du Soleil: Joya show at the Vidanta Theater, Mayan Riviera. But after reading this I think its better to stay at a Cancun all-inclusive and just get a cab back and forth to the show. Sounds good?

For what its worth, I don't necessarily agree with your conclusion, but we stay at the Grand Luxxe on the resort property. I do think it is a completely different experience. I love the place, but really to each their own. You may want to specify that the video is about the Grand Bliss as there are multiple hotels on the property.

it was a beautiful place but yes a nightmare to stay at the property, if you think there will be a beach for you to enjoy, YOU WILL NOT!!!!! FIND ONE, THEY DONT HAVE ONE 😢, if you just want to enjoy the pools they have nice ones, if you want real mexican food or great food, you better take a cab out into town but they will go out of their way to discourage you from leaving , making sure your dollars stay there, just an idea, pretzel bag costed $340 pesos, around $ 16 US dollars which I’ve never paid here in the US, I sure wished i would off seen your video before my trip, would I stay here again ? NO! would I recommend it to anyone else? NOPE, but overall it was a family memorable moment, so that’s a plus… What I do recommend is Rent your own car and plan it out to visit “The Hotel Zone” that’s where all the beaches are and all the stores, shops and fun stuff, but beware of police shakedowns, it did happened and it does happen, cheers 🍻
