Nice format but I was lost. It would be nice to understand *why* each example was chosen. What's a good source for finding the rules for determining which format to use? Thanks for what you're doing.

That was a tester for sure,a bit longer the next time would be better,it gives you a sample where I'm at with my learning of my beautiful historic language.keep up the good work..

Good evening Molly. Thank you very much for the video is really very helpful. But I think the best would be if you would tell us when to use Is, and when Tá. Many thanks once again.

Hi Efthimios, thanks for watching. I know that most people who watch my videos are learning and studying from other sources, classes etc. so for a lot of people this would be a test on something they have already seen. I haven't made a direct video about this, but in my vlogs and other videos I have given many natural examples in context, with Irish subtitles included. I wanted to do a quiz first because there is already so much information about this common error and I thought it would be fun to give people a chance to see what they already know.

@ Thank you, Molly.I thought about it but then I said why not learn something or see If I know the correct rule about it

This is a concept I really have trouble with in Irish because it's not a distinct thing in English. However, I got 5/5 so something must be sinking in! I love your channel

After years of studying Gaeilge, albeit very sporadically, this aspect of the language still drives me nuts! XD

The study group I'm part of has just seen the first of the copula this past Sunday, so this quiz came at the right time :D Got the questions right, but I'm still wrapping my head around the concept and its complexities haha

The last one confused me for a little bit, because both sentences are basically grammatically correct, but only one of them was a translation of the English. The one with a copula means "it is the nice house", but I think it would need a pronoun after Is to be grammatically correct - although that might be optional in some dialects, I'm not quite sure what the rules are on that.

    4/5!
Cén fáth atá sé "is áit deas í", ach tá seisean "tá an teach deas"? Clearly I'm missing some part of the rule here because these seem like they're trying to say the same thing, but one takes an chopail but the other doesn't. Is it the fact that one is addressing a general place whereas the other is referring to a specific location?
    GRMA!

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

is áit deas í = it's a nice place. Tá an teach deas = the house is nice. Different phrasing. You could say 'tá an áit deas' (the place is nice) or is teach deas é (it's a nice house).
