I worked as a part time usher in CCP with my sister ( Cultural Center Of the Philippines ) I just realized how lucky we are to watch free perfromances from Madrigal singers and other artists. Amazing indeed
I am now 66 years, and the first time heard them sing was in 1972 at the UPCA (now UPLB) Umali auditorium, I really was amaze by their voices, it mesmerized me!!!
The best of the best. The Madrigal Singers should be bestowed National Artists status by Govt for bringing honors to our country from the four corners of the world!
So proud of our UP Madrigal Singers. Still attending UP at the time of its formation. Have since then followed its transformation into a world class choir winning so many prestigious international competitions. Mabuhay kayo!
Actually, Louie Ocampo finished it's lyrics at the hospital. It's a corroborative effort. First sung by Sharon and Ariel Rivera, used a theme song and title of the movie by Viva. And then popularized by Martin Nieverra....
Just to provide some context in relation to your comment: when they sang this, it was already nearly midnight here in Texas and they had just finished a full concert. Some of them were ready to go home to rest, but stayed just to be able to sing some songs for a special host.
These Madrigal singers are all past their prime but they still manage to maintain their beautiful voices. Are they singing to Filipino audience or are there foreigners in the group.
This is the current batch of Philippine Madrigal Singers, so they are at their prime. One of them is still a student at the UP Conservatory of Music. In this video, they are singing a special song to a birthday celebrant in Houston, TX after their recent concert. It is a private event after their public performance. The audience in both is a mix of Filipinos and foreigners.
