How come when I kick my banchee over the kick start falls off and doesn't grab the basket

You just saved me soooo much headache and money! My issue was my key switch. I like to work on my own stuff but would have NEVER found this electrical problem without you showing how to narrow it down. I hope you realize how helpful your vids are! Man Kevin I echo the same. You saved me so much headache. As you know I’m doing a full restoration and decided to test the stator (before I float the ground) and while I had my tester out check the coil. Tested the plug wires and they were way out of spec, even checked the boots. Man I can only imagine the headache of putting this thing back together and it running like crap. Everyone says it and I’ll continue to say it, thank you for all of your videos!
saveD me money..... i had no spark, no start..... i already had "key ignition by passed" but the BY-PASS connection went bad from water/ rust. When i cut off the rusted BYPASS connector and install a new one.... got spark and Shee started up 1st kick.... YOU THE BEST BRO.... A++

wow thats great that you got back to me thanks , ive been watching alot of your stuff lately since i gotthis banshee last year , i have checked all of these items and recently replaced the cylinders, pistons and head , i have adjusted the carbs and the idle is good it starts up great its just the left cylinder always is cold if i let it idle for a long time eventually the left exhaust will spew out the unused gas and oil, i thought about it being the crank seal but it doesnt bellow smoke it smoke s like it should but the right side if i put my hand over the pipe has more pressure coming out of it than the left and that left pipe stays ice cold when the right side is piping hot

That's what's going on with my banshee runs horribly for a short period , and everything is checking within specs electrically . And to top it off , mine is a 96 and those stupid cdi boxes are expensive as hell and hard to find

Hello, I appreciate your videos! I am sort of unfamiliar with the banshee. I have an 1987 banshee that is bone stock (clean)and original-everything. It will not start with the kick starter but if you bump it, it starts right up effortlessly. It use to start with the kick lever when cold and not when hot, but it seems like it will not hot or cold now (but again it fires every time with a small push-bump start. The kick starter does spin over no problem and has compression. The bike runs fine and is very powerful, and idles great. ANY IDEAS? I would appreciate any direction you could point me out to check.
Great video @southtexasbanshee !!! My problem is on the right cylinder. I'm not sure if its a misfire or blow by from worn rings. but the right side doesn't smoke like the left. it also pops and back fires and doesn't have as much pressure coming out of the pipe like the left side does. I bought a new piston kit to replace the rings but im just wondering if im jumping ahead. could it be something else like muffler packing or air to gas mixture ratio im stuck its my first banshee. i've always owned 2stroke dirtbikes not fourwheelers. what should i check ??? thanks man

Thanks for all the sweet helpful videos. I have a intermittent no spark issue. I'll ride for a couple minutes then dies and won't fire until it cools down. Once it cools it fires then so on. Any idea.,. Thank you again.

mine left me strand it after a hight RPM pull in first gear 4 miles away from home SMH long story short a lot of pushing back home theres no spark defitnally gonna try this thanks for your video
I rebuild my banshee motor. I put weisco piston, advance timing +4, cool head 21cc dome and now it doesn't have spark. I have change the cap from 0.15 to 0.17 but it's not getting any spark. I have unplug my killswitch and key bypass and still nothing. I check my coils and they read 5.82. My stator is good too. Maybe my CDI or should I change to stock timing?

good vid kev ,what do u think about powdercoat effecting that main ground in the rear by regulator? i ground off the powdercoat and put dielectric grease where it bolts up

I've never had any issues with it, I just bolt it up and try it, if no workie then I resort to scrapping off the powder coat. The bolt threads seem to ground it fine
if im not getting a reading on my ignition coil do i just change it or the whole stator?
My Banshee has absolutely no spark I was watching your video which is a great video thank you one of my ignition coil plugs is bad should I still have spark on the other side? How much do you sell your complete wiring harnesses for it's in desperate need we are doing a complete rebuild reassembling everything wiring is pretty much all I have left to do

Hey how are ya, yea it should still have spark on the other side. My full harnesses run 125 or so on Ebay, if you come to me direct you’ll pay about 10% less.

I have a banshee I just replaced the top end I’m getting ⚡️ the gas is coming out the overflow I know I have to adjust the float valve but the bike won’t crank if you could help out that would be sweet. I watch all you videos I’m a big fan

Man it could be a lot of things
Be sure the choke tube is on
Be sure the flywheel key isn’t sheered
New plugs gapped at .028
set the floats 20-22mm
check n see how much compression you have

you have great vids i have a 2000 Shee and i have a problem with my left cylinder noy firing ive replaced the cylinders pistons and installed a cool head after your cool head vid that was a great help, have you ever ran into this issue with one pipe being cold ?

Yes I have but it's an easy trouble shoot.
Easiest to hardest
1) check for fire replace the plug while your at it.
2) check for fuel
3) check for compression

Hey man I got a question about my banshee when's she's cold she don't wanna start noticed weak spark on one of the spark plugs and after she starts and warms up starts first kick everytime
The guy that use to work on my banshee move on he had me order 64.50 pistons so I’m stuck with them so I went back stock I didn’t do a compression test but I go buy one tomorrow any info would be help your the reason that I have motivation to fix myself and thx
I have a problem with a 2006. I have spark, gas is getting to both carbs, i went through both last years following your rebuilt advise, only ride at glamis, bike ran good last week. windy so when i came home, cleaned filters, used carb cleaner, back together won't start. pulled apart carb checked everything. 87 kicked in a row started. ran. next day 100 kicks, won't start, have spark. any ideas, thanks,.Quinn
Could you use the probe wires off the volt tester for the key bypass plug?

My voltage regulator ground wire got cut in half would that cause a no start problem ?

Hey south Texas banshee I bought a used 1997, Took my new banshee out for a spin around the yard hit a small 2 foot jump drove around second part of yard to put up in the garage and it revved high when in 1st with clutch pulled about to park and died, now it won't start. ANY IDEALS WHAT COULD BE THE ISSUE, I was thinking possibly old filter falling apart may have sucked in carb but not sure if that could make it rev high with no throttle at all. 1 carb with stage 4 intake manifold and keihin carb 21 cc cool heads domes pro circuit platinum pipes and pro circuit silencers, fmf power lite reeds thats all I know that been done to it, I looked at the unfiltered it was starting to fall apart and the guy I bought it from said he liked to run his machines a tad lean

what if my warrior still turns on the ignition but still has no spark? can the ignition still be bad?? I replaced everything else and checked wires

My 1996 banshee is old engine ran before we took it apart and put it back together been sitting for a few years

But harness wouldn’t plug and play

First of all thank you for the troubleshooting video Texas banshee. My right cylinder is running very weak. It seem to work fine on idle, but once under load and going up on revolutions it goes weak. While following this video first noticed my ground to the voltage regulator was missing so decide to attach it back up. after following through noticed the lighting coil was at .7 ohms same for primary coil .7 ohms other stuff was good. Did the bad ground make all this trouble happen? Should I replace the coil first then the stator? Is the lighting coil part of the stator? Yes I'm a beginner with two strokes
Juan Cano lighting coil is part of the stator yes. have you checked the compression on it and leaked it down? That would be the first step in troubleshooting it. If your having issues with it at higher RPMS, it may be carb related. I would pull them apart and clean them and the jets really well and see if that helps.
South Texas Banshee Yeah I got tired of doing leakdown tests, and taking the carbs off inspecting them cleaning them and putting them back together. That's why I got to think is some electrical problem. Damn those ignition coils are expensive, I though I would get one new on ebay denso for $20 but they go for like $90. Nology and dynatek are around the same pricepoint, wondering which one would be better.
Juan Cano. I have exactly the same problem. The only difference is that I have no spark at all. Should I change the coil and stator having a reading of 0.7 ohms on primary and lighting coil respectively?

Hello My name is Sergio from Dallas Texas, I got a 2002 banshee wich I can't get to start, I replaced pinstons and rings and the day I did it the bike started with no problem, I came back a few days later and thats where all started, I thought the problem was in the carbs and I rebuilted both and still can't get it to start, I checked the compression on both cylinders and everytime I did it it showed 120psi on both cylinders, I checked the spark and I got good spark. At this point IDK what else to do, i'm i missing something! Can someone please help me?
My spark plug blowed up while I was riding it put a new one in and it still don’t start. What could be the problem?
hey man. i just changed out my frame. banshee started an ran great before i did the change out. only thing i did different was i did the tors delete. i cut the plugs off that went to the carbs tors. now the bike has no spark.

Disconnect the TORS box mounted on the and rail as the coil. When you delete the TORS you HAVE TO disconnect that. If not it'll kill the ignition system.

doesnt matter sir. its a wasted spark engine. it fires both top and bottom dead center.

That’s pretty high for the lighting coil, it may or may not still work.
However that won’t affect spark, it just runs the lights on the bike.
after do all your steps and replace the CDI mine leave me scratching my head my buddy help me today we remove the shifter pedal and the cover we find out what it looks like a broken crankshaftflywheel spin by hand and not when i kick it. SMH

Hey Kevin my 1992 banshee has no spark key by passed kill switch unhooked ... coil tests in spec the stator tested good on lighting coil , pickup side but red to green wire had 23.5 ohms does that mean my stator is no good or is it close enough to spec to work I have a new one from vitos performance tests 22 ohms from red to green does it need to be under 20.5 ohms
My stator red & green are 27 ohms. What did you end up doing?

@brandonbain3446 thank you for the reply. I've got both a stator and coil out of spec. The bike won't run. I'm going to buy a coil and try it first. If that doesn't fix it, I'll buy a stator, which sucks cause they're $600.
@@mmholling87 yes oem stator are not cheap at all vitos performance has decent oem quality ones for a fraction of the price but they don't last as long
@brandonbain3446 thank you. I thought about going that route but wasn't sure about the quality. I'm new to the banshee scene. I've always wanted one since I was a kid. I bought one from our west, but it's got electrical issues, but I got a decent deal, and it's clean.

Hey man I just finished my banshee it had a new top end has tors delete and I deleted the tors box by unplugging and I unplugged the thumb throttle and has the parking brake delete on the brake caliper and has a aof clutch lever what is happening is it will only start by pushing and when ever I pull in the clutch it will rev up but when I idle it and don't touch clutch it's fine and it bogs super bad on low end but on top end power it runs like crazy fast so you know what this problem could be thanks
And also has 270 main jets all stock motor and pipes

Nah the green/yellow wire would keep it from revving all together.
Did you disconnect the small TORS box mounted on the same tube as the coil?
Sounds like you just need some carb adjustments. Do you have a channel? I'd like to see a video.

Just rebuilt the top end of my banshee and It won’t start unless I throw gas in back of the carbs and I can let It run and ride It but I have to stay on the gas and I got It to idle but once I.t turns off I.t doest turn back on unless I throw gas in back of carbs
Seven sounds like maybe your jetting? Or you floats may not be set right. Is fuel comming out the overflows? Also make sure the little tube that connects the carbs is on

so how does it work if you don't have a 95-01

Screw in new plugs gapped to .0028
Check pickup gap. 0.020
replace plug caps with LB05EP
Trim off a bit of the old wire. Just enough screw cap into fresh wire.
If nothing else gonna be a bad stator.
@@kevingalindo1 well the guy that “fixed” it bought a cheap eBay coil and cdi. And now I have no sparks. What brands do I go with? Cuz I cannot find anything oem that will fit my harness.
@@trentonkirby8894 what year do ya have? I’m assuming it’s a round plug ? you can buy OEM and get adapters from me to use the CDI. The coil is same for all years.

only OEM stators will pass this test, aftermarket stators are wound different w/different wire
Tried everything and still no spark!
i have a 1995 banshee I've did a top end rebuild, everything to your specs, I'm getting gas and air, just no fire, I've ran the wiring harness, everything is plugged up tight, I've tried bypassing the killswitch too, still no fire.
the magenta or stator was never taken off, just unplugged the stator, plugged everything back up no fire, it was rebuilt because of a bad clutch ignition lever
