@@londonsage8696if I saw that happening and didn’t know she was with the baby I’d have said something.
Here in the uk we’re a lot more likely to step in and risk someone being pissed off with us that let something bad happen.
I’m 🇬🇧 but my ex is American and ab ex sister in law went into teaching too. We were talking about child protection, I told her that we often got calls from other parents or people living in the area who would let us know what had been happening in the area, in regards to harm to children. For example if parents had been doing goodness knows what then arrested and children taken into custody. A few times the other adults would let us know and one of us if we were free would open up school and get the backpacks we had ready for such incidents. At a time like that to know at least school staff care. A few times we’ve got there and police have asked parents to give us permission to come home with us. A lot less hassle for already overstretched and overwhelmed social workers and of course far better for a child to go to someone they know. Neighbours would let us know children had been taken to foster care so we could trace them & someone would go pick them up to come to another home, that being school.
It’s so funny that the younger children would see us arrive and leave but think we live at school 😂 we had 3 floors, but they still thought we had stairs somewhere to a different area of school where we lived. Although sometimes we did just camp out, we had sleepovers with children too. Perfectly normal right? 😂
I no longer teach full time unfortunately
There’s one huge factor in those incidents…drugs! 😤

I can't tell you how many times I've had to help wandering kids find their parents at a mall cause the parents didn't pay attention to them. One girl's mom actually walked away from HER daughter to another store and didn't check that she was with her or even told her she was going there. Adults may know most malls have security and aren't too big to be seriously lost in but kids don't, once a parent isn't in their sight they more often than not go into a very panicked state.

When I returned and asked him to watch our son so I could rest he told me he couldn't because he was so tired from watching him while I was gone! He had no idea the baby wasn't there the whole time.

I worked in a department store, every time I was at work I had the opportunity to observe the HUGE difference between how fathers watch and handle their children when they're on their own with them versus when the mothers have the children with them.

He needed new tires and had to pay for them on my credit card he was 10 feet away with our baby, in his carrier, while I was at the counter getting things sorted and a couple expecting walks over to me and starts a conversation and he came over and joined in. It took a minute to sink in for me that he was with us and the baby wasn’t.
Right when I asked him, “Where’s (baby’s name)?”, I look over to where the carrier was just in time to see a woman walking by lean over, clasp my infant son’s foot in her hands (?), and let go and keep walking.

If I did not know you I did not talk too ya. My Dad was making fun of me like girl ain’t nobody trying to hurt you while you’re pregnant. I’m like people do crazy stuff. Just like a couple years ago a lady fake being pregnant on fb to tell the girl to come get some baby clothes only to kill her and steal the baby from her womb ion trust nobody so you had every right to snatch your baby from being so close by that lady. Well the part of meeting the “old friend” got me bc my husband’s first thing to do was introduce his new born to his old friends BUT your husband was more involved in the friend, leaning close to her as she was him, kissing her on the cheek and then unlocking the stroller without checking his child first. The leaning over the rail on the phone with his child BEHIND him in the stroller for easy kidnapper access also made me ill. I’m so hoping this was scripted.

My friend worked nights as a nurse her husband a musician. When she had her daughter she was on Maternity leave and was exhausted she said can you take her for a walk so I can get some sleep? He wasn't thrilled but he packed her in car went to the store to get food for his dinner. He was outside the store and the baby was fussing he had forgotten something. He didn't want to go back in with the baby crying. An "nice" older lady came over and said she'd be happy to watch her while he ran in. He told my friend he left her baby with a complete stranger. My current husband not only cared for his step son (my first kid), but later when we had a girl he never let her out of his sight. In fact , he often reminded me to be more attentive, as it turns out, I am autistic and zone out quite a bit. Thank God for a great husband and dad. This is called experience. I only know because one time I lost my little brother at a mall. He was 2 and playing in the play area with all the other children. I looked away for two minutes and he was GONE! I began to search and pray for God to help me. As I looked around with my heart pounding through my chest, I suddenly noticed a little man in a funny old-fashioned uniform that said SECURITY on it. He was bent over pushing or guiding something in my direction. When the people cleared, there was my baby brother. When I took my brother back, the man disappeared into the crowd. I do not know if he was just an old man or an angel in human form. I am sure this guy will be more watchful next time.

One time when I was like 4 or 5 my dad took me to the beach just him and I. And he let me play in the water while he met up with some service buddies (he was in Vietnam war) and they had a handful of beers and then he fell asleep and took a nap in the sand. I got swept up by a big wave and brought further out in the water and I couldn't swim and almost drowned. Thankfully some college guys in the area saw me yelling for help and slowly drowning and the swam over toe and brought me back to land and walked me around the beach looking for my dad. When they found him asleep and hungover they buzzed him out for letting me go in the water alone with not being able to swim and that I had would have drowned if they didn't save me. They made him call my mom and say with us until other family members came to pick me up and bring me home while he went back to his beach nap

While she was ordering a woman came up and started to move the stroller. I looked at her and she put her finger to her lips and mouthed I’m her mother. I watched her because if she went any further than a few steps away I was going to say something. She stood against the wall with the stroller waiting for the new mom to notice. When new mom was done ordering she turned around and had a look of horror on her face because the stroller was gone. Then the woman came forward with the stroller and said I told you to pay attention. New mom fell apart and started to cry. I wasn’t the only one watching this because the lady behind me said that was cruel.

Thankfully, this is a season of busyness and stress that won't last for you... You got this!
I love your donation mentality 💙 I used to go and babysit the kids of battered women at an undisclosed shelter so the moms could have time to gather themselves, do laundry, whatever they needed. They need and appreciate every little act of kindness, even if they're too much in "fight or flight" to be able to express it.

I had triplets infants and a toddler one year older. I had anxiety attacks when I’d go out by myself for fear that someone would try to steal my babies. With triplets (and babies in general) strangers think they have the right to see or touch your child. It was crazy how people would crowd around us. I developed agoraphobia, and being surrounded by people squeezing in just to see 3 babies, I also developed claustrophobia. It was a fun time when my husband was with me, but it was hellish when I was alone.
And don’t get me started on trying to get all 4 little ones into the van one at a time. I’d have to leave the others outside while I strapped each one in. In a parking lot. Filled with strangers.

Having to work a job you hate because you’re supporting your loved ones is SO hard.. I had to do the same and I was miserable. I also wasn’t being treated well and lived on the site where I worked. I became an alcoholic, was severely depressed… I started getting sick and injured more.. I gained 30 lbs.
it’s been 4.5 months since I quit that job and I am no longer depressed, no longer an alcoholic, and I go to the gym and lift weights and eat healthy 👍
