Along a 44 years amazing career, since Genesis "Nursery Cryme" ( 1971 ), Steve Hackett has been, undoubtedly, one the best guitarists in the world, both on the electric and acoustic work, as well as great composer in many different kinds of music. Eternally highly inspired and with lots of wonderful ideas, he also remains the personification of the true spirit of Genesis in the 70's. What else to say about a great genius ? Steve, many thanks for 44 years of wonderful music and guitar playing !
I've been into rock music since 1976 and I don't know how it's happened, but I've never heard a Steve Hackett track before until I was guided to 'Wolflight' as a TH-cam recommendation. My jaw literally dropped when I heard that track, bought the album then heard this.Talk about blown away. Have now ordered his back catalogue and got a ticket to see him later in the year. It's great to be excited about music again.
metalbearuk You got tons of music to catch up on. Voyage of the Acolyte, Defector, Spectral Mornings, Guitar Noir, Darktown, and Beyond the Shrouded Horizons are some of Steve's masterpiece albums. Hope you enjoy the show!
I purchased STEVE HACKETT, "WOLFLIGHT," within days of it's release, April, 2015. The first potential song of the album for me was track #5 "Corcyican Fire." In May, 2015, I purchased a concert ticket to see STEVE and his great band, play the ACHOLYTE to WOLFLIGHT tour at the Scottish Rites Auditorium, Collingswood, NJ. Over the summer, WOLFLIGHT continue to grow in appreciation for me. In October, 2015, I got a call from a Prog friend- "a famous Prog guitar artist and his band needs a driver for 2 days to drive from Wilmington- Lynn Massachusetts, and then back to the Keswick, theatre, Nov 18-20th....you, available?!" Yeah, who is it?! Ha-ha...yeah, wow! So your driver to the stars, drove the STEVE HACKETT band, and, one WOLFLIGHT concert turned into 5 shows in 6 nights, and the HIGHLIGHT of the set EACH night was, "Love Song to a Vampire!"
I'm happy to hear Steve singing. I love the tembre of his voice. It was several decades ago I enjoyed dinner and an evening of discussion with him through a mutual friend. The resonance is still in my mind's ear. It's the same way I gravitate to the unique tone quality of Steve's guitar work. Some have it, and some don't! Provocative song on classic themes of life, death, love and longing. Way to go Steve.
This is a song all about getting caught up in a relationship with a narcissist. A vampire that sucks away your spirit or soul rather than your blood. Excellent work as always from Steve Hackett.
Genio de genios, compositor entre los más grandes. Thank you mister Steve for your work. If you want to be transported to another time and place, no doubt you need to hear him play. La mayor de las reverencias y el mayor de los respetos a este gran hombre.
Steve Hackett put on his best live performances in years this weekend. I really enjoyed his solo stuff and especially old Genesis. What a great guy and musician!
For goodness sake, never. Gabriel is fucking pop-musician, theatre on two legs, Hackett is musical genius. For instance, Phil Collins is musical genius too even if he is pop-musician.
@Efe Cosmico I think, possibly NOT .. or has a narrow viw of music' .. What Peter did was 'popular' not necessarily pop .. and, like Bowie, he furthered 'pop' out of all recognition .. It's not 'Puppet on a string' huh!!?? I'd add Family Snapshot to that .. The shooting of Kennedy in narrative form, in a song, from the shooters perspective ... clearly a 'pop' sensibility..lol
Been learning a lot about Progressive rock. My love for John Wetton (Asia, King Crimson, UK), lead me to Mr. Hackett...oh, my. This is why Progressive is my favorite genre...my God. Beautiful and crazy....just like I like it!
if you like this .. you may want to join my facebook page and listen to my radio show on jan 16.. Steve Hackett and Lorelei McBroom preview his new album.. show honoring the life of John Wettton on Jan 30th wusb.fm NY - WAXX TRAXX TO THE MAXX.
Il n'y a pas de mot assez fort pour qualifier cette pépite. Magnifique, génial ne suffiraient pas. Steve, vous êtes vraiment un génie et le meilleur guitariste de tous les temps.
Another great video! I'm very glad that Steve's new album Wolflight is getting all the attention it deserves: it's a masterpiece indeed! I can't wait for the forthcoming tour!
Rodrigo Mendieta Amanda Lehmann, Jo Hackett's sister sings backup. If Chris Squire is singing, it must be very quiet, although his bass is far back in the mix.
I love how Steve can go from classical guitar to soaring electric seamlessly and make it work. I agree, I heard the "In the Court of the Krimson King" influence here, but that's OK, its an awesome tune to use as an influence ! I am glad there are still some artists who are creating in what we use to call the art rock / classical rock vein, although some call it progressive rock. So true also about some relationships being essentially vampiristic ! Wonderfully involved composition. He is also one of the only players that is so skilled at both classical and electric guitars and is so tasteful with both, and possesses the most haunting vibrato ever !
One of the best pieces of music I have ever heard. Completely entranced by this song (on many levels) from an album I ordered, mainly because I already liked Steve Hackett's work and because the late great Chris Squire played bass on this track. The album, Wolflight I had never heard a single track from (like several of my albums), but a choice I will certainly never regret, absolutely awesome track, as is the whole album.
Steve Hackett to geniusz..... Geniusz kompozytorski ale przede wszystkim gitary... To jedna z piękniejszych płyt Wolflight.... 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸Bravo 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
You came to me at a dark hour in time Your lips tasted so sublime You drink in my hopes, my bleeding heart You promised me a brand new start You told me I wasn't born 'til we met My life before a distant regret You said that my friends were no good for me You claimed only you could set me free Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire Once again I sing a love song to a vampire You demanded my undying devotion Took over all my emotions But you were away for many a night Secretly living another life I searched for a real love, I ran away And found a warm place to stay But I heard your cries, your anger, your lies A flash of your eyes pulled me back inside Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire Once again I sing a love song to a vampire Weaker and colder each time I retuned Desperate to please I never learned The door was unlocked but my heart was in jail Caught in the web of your spell I must finally stake my claim Re-take my own life once again Set me free, let me breathe I'll shed the sunlight on your deceit Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire
My favourite piece from this album. Magnificent. Impossible to be played live on stage in this arrangement, I guess, but nevermind. Finally, Steve does some long tracks and he's found the inspiration to make them great.
Wow! INTRIGUING MUSIC AND VIDEO AND SUBJECT MATTER! I REALLY DUG THIS LEONARD COHENISH TUNE, STEVE. YOUR GUITARWORK IS GORGEOUS AND REMINDED ME OF ANOTHER STEVE . . . STEVENS. ❤❤ LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS AUDIO AND VISUAL. ❤
Very nice. Steve as always the guitar work is great. Great to hear you sing more, I like your voice fits with the music and Amanda well what can you say another great talent, beautiful voice. I very much liked the video too. I have your signed album just waiting for the right time to sit back and listen to it, watch and hearing the video make me want to play it now but must get sleep work comes early tomorrow morning. Thanks, Doug
Fangtastic! Steve has returned with another classic. Made sure I voted this for prog anthem of the year. Do I get a 'look alike' point for Tony Banks appearing at 4.45?! Perish the thought . . .
Eerie stuff, and v. effective. The black and white story bits look great - does anyone know if they're part of a longer film, or were done specially for this promo?
This is one of the most beautiful and haunting song ever written...drama, amgst and extreme beauty all blended together....anyway i guess Mr.Hackett has a secret fetish for the 1st album of King Crimson,,,listen to the chorus and then say it back
What finishes many fine artists is they run out of ideas. Steve is the reverse. Still musically fresh and inventive.... Usually 4/5 goosebumps moments per cd

Nelson Soucasaux Right on the $$$ Nelson!
Nelson Soucasaux Amen
Could not agree with you more Nelson - he has carried the torch.
"Steve Hackett, Suppers Ready, Todmobile" search and enjoy
Amen

You are about to embark on a WONDERFUL journey!! You WILL enjoy it!!
metaldaduk I recommend Spectral Mornings: the title track specifically.
I hear him and Genesis since i was 15 and started to play guitar serious and he was and is a great influence for me.
@metalbearuk i am the same as you but discovered only in 2020/2021
The genius that is Steve Hacket!!!
It's hard to find in these days any composer/musician like Mr Steve Hackett. Top quality music. Thanks a lot, sir.
Steve, Amanda and other contributors: PHENOMENAL

Please go onto Reddit and write a full page about this. What a treat!
Please never stop creating these masterpieces! Wolflight is amazing, I hope we can have more Hackett songs for many years to come.
¡¡¡Ojalá!!! I wish that!!!

A vampire that sucks away your spirit or soul rather than your blood.
Excellent work as always from Steve Hackett.
probably Kim Poor
Not many people who can make music like this.....anymore.
That end riff was a nice kick. Great song, got me sold!
Between this one and the title track, I'm completely sold! Great stuff!
Ma quanto è geniale quest'uomo?
Best music to come out from the past to present the genius of Sir Hackett
Has he really been knighted?
Genio de genios, compositor entre los más grandes. Thank you mister Steve for your work. If you want to be transported to another time and place, no doubt you need to hear him play. La mayor de las reverencias y el mayor de los respetos a este gran hombre.
Another great sounding album for Steve.
bello
I had the great fortune of meeting Steve Hackett a few years ago. He is a lovely wonderful gentleman. I told him I love this song and the video too.
Beautiful song! The refrain reminds me In the Court of the Crimson King
Yes, you're right. It's my favourite song of Steve, with shadow of the hierophant.
Bit of "Layla" at 4:42
Steve Hackett put on his best live performances in years this weekend. I really enjoyed his solo stuff and especially old Genesis. What a great guy and musician!
+Audioholics indeed he did, I saw him on Friday night at the Capitol Theater in Clearwater,.....with his Mom in attendance...
Yep I was at the same show! Went to Franks Pizza afterwards. Small world :)
This is a clear reason of why Steve Hackett has Andres Segovia as one of his biggest influences. Great peace of pure finest art
I might have expected Hackett to have faded a bit but his technique is on top of his game. Maestro performance.
Influences, yes. Equal? No.
a masterpiece of a song
Superb....He and Peter Gabriel should do one more album together !!
***** They should and could.
For goodness sake, never. Gabriel is fucking pop-musician, theatre on two legs, Hackett is musical genius. For instance, Phil Collins is musical genius too even if he is pop-musician.
@@cheloveker Boy, get a brain, please.
@Efe Cosmico Sledghammer is a hommage to the rhytm & Blues Gabriel love, not exactly 'a pop song'... And if it was... what a masterful pop song is!!
I dont know what to write....this takes my breath away......
Thought I would find you here..your taste in music is like you….divine
Same effect. It knocks the air out of me
seeing this music live....GOOSEBUMPS!! UNBLELIEVABLY STUNNING...MUST SEE!
❤ I am in love with a song ❤
Amazing!!! BRAVO MR HACKETT!!!
grandissimo pezzo di un geniale e magnifico chitarrista.....grazie Steve!!!

This music is poetry. Great story, expressed in sound.
Il n'y a pas de mot assez fort pour qualifier cette pépite. Magnifique, génial ne suffiraient pas. Steve, vous êtes vraiment un génie et le meilleur guitariste de tous les temps.
Incredible song
Another great video! I'm very glad that Steve's new album Wolflight is getting all the attention it deserves: it's a masterpiece indeed! I can't wait for the forthcoming tour!
Basses and choirs from Chris Squier RIP.
Rodrigo Mendieta Amanda Lehmann, Jo Hackett's sister sings backup. If Chris Squire is singing, it must be very quiet, although his bass is far back in the mix.
Chris Squire is only credited as playing bass guitar on the album sleeve.
Amanda Lehman, yes
His last recording..
Wonderful song, great artist, glad he is still creating and crafting...
buona musica. Di Steve ho sempre apprezzato lo sforzo di essere originale. Buoni Genesis non mentono
The chorus reminds me of "In the Court of the Crimson King" with all those "Ahhhhs". But I like it.
it actually reminds me more of Genesis' Seven Stones
What the f*...
extremely so.
Genesis was a lot influenced by King Crimson...
I love how Steve can go from classical guitar to soaring electric seamlessly and make it work. I agree, I heard the "In the Court of the Krimson King" influence here, but that's OK, its an awesome tune to use as an influence ! Genesis has a picture on the wall from"in the court of the crimson king" in the rehearsal room because they want sound like K.C..
Beautiful song like SO many Steve has but I didn't know he could sing this well ,he has a very soothing voice!
It took me a while to get into this album, not sure at first. Now I think its one of Steve's best for years, great video too.
Juste énorme, une fois de plus !
I love this song so much its a goose pumps on your skin moment.
Stille love Hackett's work!
. . am beginning to get hooked to this eerie song
This song makes me happy for so reason.
This song....just so AWESOME. So wonderful to hear Steve playing so well (and even singing decently on this one). :D
This song is a masterpiece !
Steve Hackett to geniusz..... Geniusz kompozytorski ale przede wszystkim gitary... To jedna z piękniejszych płyt Wolflight.... 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸Bravo 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Absolutely Amazing!!!
O Talento e a Harmonia, uma bela Musica. Assim é STEVE HACKETT
Sensuous and beautiful.
Gave me the Hackett goosebumps
kool from mexico ...good mix beteween goth and progressive
This song and how Steve sings it reminds me of Renaissance's beautiful song Kindness At The End, sung by Jon Camp!
You came to me at a dark hour in time
Your lips tasted so sublime
You drink in my hopes, my bleeding heart
You promised me a brand new start
You told me I wasn't born 'til we met
My life before a distant regret
You said that my friends were no good for me
You claimed only you could set me free
Each time you enslave me
To your deepest desire
Once again I sing a love song to a vampire
You demanded my undying devotion
Took over all my emotions
But you were away for many a night
Secretly living another life
I searched for a real love,
I ran away
And found a warm place to stay
But I heard your cries, your anger, your lies
A flash of your eyes pulled me back inside
Each time you enslave me
To your deepest desire
Once again I sing a love song to a vampire
Weaker and colder each time I retuned
Desperate to please I never learned
The door was unlocked but my heart was in jail
Caught in the web of your spell
I must finally stake my claim
Re-take my own life once again
Set me free, let me breathe
I'll shed the sunlight on your deceit
Each time you enslave me
To your deepest desire
arasob1 thank you!!
Many thanks
Krásná skladba - Hacketta sleduji skoro 50 let! Vždy vynikající, poctivý.
My favourite piece from this album. Magnificent. Impossible to be played live on stage in this arrangement, I guess, but nevermind. Finally, Steve does some long tracks and he's found the inspiration to make them great.

Douglas McCowen Amanda always performs wonderfully. Steve gets lots of love, but the talented artists he works with are amazing, too.
Love this song so so much 🖤❣️
Fangtastic! Steve has returned with another classic. Made sure I voted this for prog anthem of the year. Do I get a 'look alike' point for Tony Banks appearing at 4.45?! Perish the thought . . .
I saw Tony too !!!!!
my god the best !!!!!
He has a one of a kind vibrato.
Bom demais!
Love this
Wonderful, superior, great and UBER song & video
Eerie stuff, and v. effective. The black and white story bits look great - does anyone know if they're part of a longer film, or were done specially for this promo?
This is one of the most beautiful and haunting song ever written...drama, amgst and extreme beauty all blended together....anyway i guess Mr.Hackett has a secret fetish for the 1st album of King Crimson,,,listen to the chorus and then say it back

Narcissists deserve death
True to the Art!
VHS masterpiece :)
splendide
Steve is the only who have the old school genesis style in his solo career
"Once again, I sing a love song to a........
.....................VAMPIRE...!" /So cool!
What finishes many fine artists is they run out of ideas. Steve is the reverse. Still musically fresh and inventive.... Usually 4/5 goosebumps moments per cd
