  • Alright, traditional Jazz bass fans, eat your heart out!
    Hand-crafted in Japan, this new series of Xotic basses features a great preamp, killer single coil pickups, all kinds of cool ergonomic designs, and most importantly, HRI - Hum Reduction Inductor. This ELIMINATES single coil hum, while still giving you TRUE single coil tone!!!

    I understand this sounds ok passive too. How close to a traditional 60s jazz tone can you get?

    @adurgaram $2500-2800, depending on the options. VERY affordable for a high-end, hand crafted bass.

    Solid build quality combined with that amazing preamp makes for one hell of a killer workhorse studio/live instrument. Overall a very nice addition to the already over crowded super j-bass fraternity.

    I just traded for one and I couldn't be happier. This bass is incredible. I have the XJ-1T 24F in Lake Placid Blue, alder with a rosewood board. My next one will be the ash model with a maple board. Love these basses.

    Great review. Saw these at NAMM. Most, if not all, were sold by Sunday. Was really curious about this brand. They look and sound great.

    @w71homan You can nail it. This particular bass is an alder body with rosewood board. Put it in passive mode, roll back the tone knob a bit and you're there!

    @guidothemustachepeng Well, this bass is a 5-string... :D
    I just happened to have a few 6-strings - but now they've almost all sold, so it's just me, a few 5-strings and two 4-strings!
