Thank you boss, you raise some valid and important questions and concerns. As a Zimbabwean ZEP holder, I would like to address each of your points thoughtfully. Escape During War or Natural Disaster: The idea that people could easily escape to another country in the event of war or a natural disaster is not as simple as it may seem. Relocating involves numerous challenges, including financial constraints, bureaucratic processes, and the emotional toll of leaving one's home and community behind. Moreover, international laws and border regulations must be respected. Living in Two Countries: Permanent residence in South Africa means that I have committed to making South Africa my primary home, working, paying taxes, and contributing to the South African economy as we have always did without the PR status. While I may maintain cultural and familial ties to Zimbabwe, my primary residence and obligations would be in South Africa. Economic Concerns and Population Growth: The South African economy, like many others, faces challenges, and it is natural to be concerned about job scarcity and population growth. However, immigrants often contribute positively to the economy by bringing skills, starting businesses, and filling gaps in the labor market. Many ZEP holders are productive members of society who help drive economic activity and create employment. Loyalty to Country: Loyalty is not a zero-sum game. Many of us feel a deep sense of loyalty and gratitude to South Africa for providing opportunities and safety. At the same time, we hold a natural connection to our heritage and homeland. This dual sense of belonging enriches our contributions to both countries. Frequent Visits to Zimbabwe: Visiting Zimbabwe occasionally is a way to maintain family ties and cultural connections, much like any expatriate community around the world. It does not diminish our commitment to South Africa. Instead, it fosters a broader perspective and often strengthens our resolve to contribute positively to our host country. Role of ZEP Holders: ZEP holders are individuals who have sought refuge and opportunities in South Africa due to economic and political challenges in Zimbabwe. Many have integrated into South African society, working hard and contributing to the community. We seek to build a future here, support our families, and uphold the values of respect, hard work, and community. We are not in your beautiful country to bring your nation down, or burn your nation to ashes, NO.!! We seek refuge, and we can't afford to make SA suffer, because we suffer more if that so happens. At the end of the day, South Africa did not come what it became today by itself, neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe also assisted in the success of South Africa as a strong nation it is known for today. You don't question your neighbour such questions when his house is falling apart, he or she is still your brother. @@simbiromudzingwa Indeed, an increasing population can lead to higher demand for goods and services, which can stimulate economic activity and job creation. Thank you boss, you raise some valid and important questions and concerns. As a Zimbabwean ZEP holder, I would like to address each of your points thoughtfully.
Escape During War or Natural Disaster:
The idea that people could easily escape to another country in the event of war or a natural disaster is not as simple as it may seem. Relocating involves numerous challenges, including financial constraints, bureaucratic processes, and the emotional toll of leaving one's home and community behind. Moreover, international laws and border regulations must be respected.
Living in Two Countries:
Permanent residence in South Africa means that I have committed to making South Africa my primary home, working, paying taxes, and contributing to the South African economy as we have always did without the PR status. While I may maintain cultural and familial ties to Zimbabwe, my primary residence and obligations would be in South Africa.

Visiting Zimbabwe occasionally is a way to maintain family ties and cultural connections, much like any expatriate community around the world. It does not diminish our commitment to South Africa. Instead, it fosters a broader perspective and often strengthens our resolve to contribute positively to our host country.
Role of ZEP Holders:
ZEP holders are individuals who have sought refuge and opportunities in South Africa due to economic and political challenges in Zimbabwe. Many have integrated into South African society, working hard and contributing to the community. We seek to build a future here, support our families, and uphold the values of respect, hard work, and community.
