Great video as always, sir. I finished my TNT right before Thanksgiving and I just picked up my truck. Got a 2025 freightliner that only had 40 miles on it.
Hey Derek good to hear from you congratulations on finishing your training and getting that brand new 25 cascadia 🎊 🍾 did you hit the road yet? Either way way stay safe out there brother especially during these winter months 🙏
And now the real training begins. On the job training by urself without a trainer. I hope ur trainer made you so most of the macros and calls urself. But more importantly I hope you figured out a good way to trip plan and get to ur customers and fuel stops without getting lost or taking the wrong rds bc now you don't have a trainer to help you. It's all on you now. I use Google maps for all my directions. Always give urself plenty of time to get to ur stops and pay attention to the weather now that winter is here. Good luck.
@@thetexastrucker7934 thank you sir for all the good advice. The good news is my trainer did let me do the macros and all that stuff. I’ve ran trips fully from pick up to drop off so. I definitely know the training is not over.
@@RunningOTR thanks man. I have not hit the road yet. There’s a lot of people trying to get out of Prime one right now so hopefully tomorrow I’ll get out of here. Luckily, I got some winter driving in before I came home.
@ really well that’s not good usually for some reason when you go to PRIME1 it’s hard to get out so if I ever go there for anything I just hold on to my load I never drop it.
Went right through my hometown on 34.. (Fairfield) - that road down 34 to Ottumwa is so peaceful. Where you turned into DPSG, if you turn right instead, behind FedEx is the industrial arts complex for Indian Hills Community College - got my CDL there
Yeah I love it in Iowa it’s quiet especially the back country roads nothing compares that’s for sure. Ah okay I didn’t know they offered cdl classes there that’s awesome. Who do you drive for now?
@@RunningOTR I’m lease with USX currently. Wasn’t the smartest decision I know, but it got me on a % dedicated and I’m saving back for a cash purchase of an older truck to take to Landstar in a year or so.
Your videos are very enjoyable! I’d love to hear more about your strategy for maximizing profits. For example, why choose to drive at 62 mph when you have enough time to go 55 mph and still make an on-time delivery? Why focus on working in the Midwest instead of the Northeast? What factors make you choose one load over another? I’d find discussions like these far more interesting than details about the camera or microphone you’re using.
Got you no problem I’ll make sure to keep that in mind and possibly added in the next upcoming videos 😀 thank you for the feedback and thoughts I appreciate it.
I’ve been to that Dr Pepper facility. Horrible experience. Got there for my 7 PM appointment and got a door at 1:00 AM. Thankfully they have that overnight lot. Glad you had better luck than me!
I saw your video the other day of you delivering to the Distribution Center, Mount Pleasant,, IA are used to live in Mount Pleasant right across the street from the distribution center
Ah okay that’s awesome man I love it in Iowa it’s so quiet and peaceful I love running them back country roads. Thanks for watching are you still in Iowa?
Good video but i have a suggestion you when you put load locks in trailer i used to pull refer to ok i found out somtimes the top or bottom one got lose from vibration put like you did the top load lock ok but turn the bottom one the extension part on the passenger side that way you dont put all the pressure on one wall it will vibration and get lose so just one extension on drivers wall and one on passenger wall just a suggestion i know the walls are like a gum sides inside the trailer compared to dry van slick i even did the same thing on dry van and you can also use tarp straps on the doors just put the tarp strap hook on last ring hole on link to secure door and push door towards trailer then take the other end of tarp strap and go foward of the door and put that hook on frame beam and it wont move door those plastic tie straps to much movement if driving and break easily and do the same on passenger door i worked for a company half the time the holes wiuld nlt line up to secure doors against trailer ok it works miracles your doors are closer to the side of trailer i know refer doors are 6 inches thicker than dry van doors and eaier to rip off or catch something
I just saw this turn up. UYou and another youtube channel have both been here to ottumwa. I wonder who else comes through here. I'm about to start on my adventure next week. Well, with orientation first. With another company.
Really that’s awesome I love Iowa are you living in Ottumwa? Well best of luck in your orientation and training etc. which company did you go with? Best of luck 🤝

you would think since your "technically" driving your own truck since your leasing it they wouldn't force you to have the camera in the cab or at least a driver facing camera
Yeah I agree with you on that point one hundred percent I wish they only did it for company drivers but they didn’t which is really annoying and it sucks honestly. Or they should pay us more for having a camera in the truck 🤷♂️

It runs 65 but I drive 62 for best fuel mpg plus they book all their freight at 55mph anyways so you can still be on time running 55 but that’s too damn slow
