I have the Big Sky since 2 weeks now and I love this pedal. Now i had to order this thing here and it comes in 2 days via Thomann. I will use this all with my Synths and stuff. Great job! Can’t wait 😜 Cheers from Germany, Domenique Xander
The neatest characteristic of drum is the feedback. Very special unique feedback sound that I immeriately notice and that I tried to bring on recordings. I must say I did not expect this but in day to day use you really hear the difference in sound within these 3 delay types and especially they react differently to knobs like mechanics and to your playing Drum gets dirty very fast and is rough. Tape gets broken, warm and lofi a lot. And studio just always stays clean and pristine no matter how much mechanics and wear u put on.... Mh it gets dirty woth high record level but in general I mean
This video is great, but the settings do not sound on my Volante the same AT ALL. In fact, they sound completely different. Am I missing some point or why's that?
I really wish the green “magic eye” input featured on Echorecs and emulators alike had been incorporated here. Kind of a missed opportunity, but seems killer nonetheless. I feel like analog modeled delays that saturate benefit greatly from some way to monitor input sensitivity. I love the VU on my Space Echo, and the eye on my Boonar. As much as I absolutely love my Boonar and El Capistan, I’ve been waiting for a Strymon Echorec.
Specific pedal signal path is listed for each example in the video description, but typical basic signal path is Volante » BigSky (Cabinet Filter only) or the reverse, sometimes with Sunset or Riverside just after the guitar, before Volante and the BigSky cab filter. For all examples, we went out of BigSky (Cabinet Filter only) or Volante and then into a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre X Thunderbolt audio interface. No plugins or post processing. :)
Volante, oh oh Cantare, oh oh oh oh Let's fly way up to the clouds Away from the maddening crowds We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of Where lovers enjoy peace of mind Let us leave the confusion and all disillusion behind Just like bird of a feather, a rainbow together we'll find Volante, oh oh E cantare, oh oh oh oh No wonder my happy heart sings Your love has given me wings Penso che un sogno così non ritorni mai più Mi dipingi con le mani e la faccia di blu Poi d'improvviso venivo dal vento rapito E incominciavo a volante nel cielo infinito
That's the same thing I say when I discover a new pedal. I think to my self "Do I really need another delay pedal?" But the world could be destroyed by a meteor so what the hell. I have too many pedals to count now =)
I think strymon failed on this one. It sounds way to digital, and notes are not dynamic and fat. The big sky and timeline are digital effects but do sound like analog pedals. This effects just sounds like a cheap line 6 effect pedal to me! My opinion: Strymon missed the boat on this one. Their own product: El cap does sound better
Ha Ha Ha are you fricking kidding me oh boy man. Your ears I would never trust in any regard ever. Line 6 holy smokes that’s the most asinine comment I’ve ever read. Lordy Lordy. You must work for Caitlinbread ha ha ha
@@flyjohnson711 Haha :D. For me this Strymon Delay has some weird digital sound that most of the Line 6 pedals also have. It doesnt sound natural compared with the El Capo.
@@noelhoekstra6852. I agree. It is well known - the ‘Strymon sheen’ … I agree with you; I have the impression that the El Cap suffers the least from it, especially with the Tape Age dialed up …
Catalinbread and Strymon need to get together. Amazing functionality. Mostly sterile tones in this guy. Catalinbread creates unbelievable tones with zero on the fly functions. Both so annoying!
I've happily owned and heavily used a timeline for 5 years. I just don't think, as I can tell from the videos, the volante is different enough from the hi fi sounds of the timeline to warrant buying one
@@tedheshio I thought that at first too but pre-ordered. It does seem to have different character though. I'll use in conjunction with timeline. Delay is my favorite effect so can't help myself
Agreed - though I like the Boonar sound more than the Catalinbread (tho’ both more than the Volante). Boonar Deluxe has all the features now, and then some.
Man these sound snippets are great. You guys really sell this pedal well with these pieces. I can’t wait to get mine next week from my local retailer.
Let's hear it for John Fahey!
Another great demo of what I wanted to see and hear, thankyou 😁👍
Sounds like the old Binson Echorec we used for vocals. It made anybody's voice sound good.
Yes I'm getting this for sure!!!
That Fake Fahey sound is just MEGA 🤯♥️
Excellent demo vid😊

very good, it's very nice recreation of the tape delay machine, it's as good as some plug in i used even better i think.
PEDALS>PLUGINS
Beautiful
well this is surely what Bjorn Riis should demo! Send him one and he'll do justice!
I was saving for another gear but now I can't resist this one dammit
Ah, I can see this being the next series that they roll out. Imagine The Flint on "steroids." Be still my heart!
it ll be cool to have 3 versions of each pedal
Thank you.
I see this a Psychobilly machine, as well as lots of experimental crazed guitar playing in the style of the score of the movie Repo Man (The Plugz)
So is this basically a magneto pedal?
Piece at 2:04 sounds like Syd Barrett went country (and got a lot better at playing guitar!)
And that’s a buy.

Not sure what that might be! Feel free to email us at support@strymon.net if you're having issues or have any questions.

The separate panning of the 4 heads is the feature I like … though, the pedal isn’t true stereo, from what I understand 😕
How did you record this? What audio interface? And any plugins?

Oh no, might be time to sell the catalinbread, if nothing else, for that tap tempo

@@bozosaurus666 i like your reasoning
Maybe I am not sure what a drum is I thought I was familiar with the term drum
It refers to the magnetic drum in vintage drum echos:

Hope this helps!
