You are so right. I believe older fans are more likely to agree with you. I would like to mention 2 cozy elements: the electricity poles and so many parquet floors. Drinking coffee by the fog must be the ultimate moisture for the soul. Great video.
Thank you! I think you're right about older fans agreeing. Especially those that played the original and have the nostalgic factor, too. Totally agree about coffee by the fog! ☕️
I actually felt the same thing when I played the original Silent Hill 3. It's scary. I hate the hospital level. But there are parts where I generally warm and comfortable, nostalgic even.
@@ukiyoxgames The funny thing is I haven't played SH3 since childhood. So it was a strange feeling of experiencing nostalgia about my childhood while I was actually living out my childhood as a kid. It's like looking back fondly on something that I'm experiencing at the same time. Strange yet interesting feeling, but that's what comes to mind when you use the word "cozy."
I’ve always thought the same way even before the remake lol, people think I’m weird for saying that. The game can be creepy and scary, obviously, but there’s also some quiet, dreamy introspection vibes going on that I believe it is what makes it feel cozy, at least for me.
Good to see someone else find it “cozy”😂 Personally liminal spaces evokes similar feeling, and lovecraftian stories always feels the same sort of coziness to me
In my opinion it's not. This game does make me not want to play it sometimes. It's because of the whole atmosphere and especially after beating it one time, and being sad for like a week because of the story, that I can't call this game 'cozy', and sometimes I don't want to play it. When I play a videogame I want to have fun and think about good things, I mean I want to be in a positive mood. When I play silent hill 2 remake, which for me it's one of the best games I've ever played, I feel like it drains me because of the constant darkness, sadness, grittyness, music which create a very unique experience and it's everything other than cozy. This is why, while I will play sh2 again someday, to unlock achievements, and explore more endings, I have to take a break from the game and want to play other stuff. So imo the game is not comfortable AT ALL xD
Thanks for sharing, it's good to hear others opinions on this. I agree this game is incredible, a game that invokes those kind of feelings in us is definitely a testament to how well it's been designed. Thought I was talking more generally about horror games being cozy and using silent hill 2 as an example, particularly those moments solving puzzles in a dimly lit room, or the scenes spanning over the misty lakes and forest. That being said there's definitely moments in this Silent Hill 2 in particular that make you want to take a break! There's some very dark stuff in there which are absolutely not cozy, but it does have it's moments, for me
@@ukiyoxgames Totally, this game is incredible, it was my first game to the series and I absolutely loved everything. The end got me very sad because of Maria and Mary. It's a 10/10 and absolute cinema, there is no doubt about that
Weird take. Id say it's the opposite of cozy. It drags you into an oppressive and disgusting world. You play these kind of games in order to experience horror. Not to watch it from a distance. I get where you're coming from, but calling this game cozy really makes me wonder about your mental state.
@NoContextOasis That's a fair comment. There's definitely moments in the game that are repulsive and fill you with anxiety. But there are a lot of quiet moments in the game that give you time to reflect on the horror, and James grief etc. There's a coziness in those moments. I can imagine this isn't a common take though!
This was a sensation that I had during my first play through and it was so immersive.
@@joaquinportal223 Totally agree

For sure, I think the nostalgia plays a big part in it feeling comfortable for some of us

@DPham1 I think I know that feeling that you're describing. It's hard to find the right word to explain it for sure.

@grilogigante For sure! If that makes us weird, then who cares 😀

@haoyunzhang4094 Glad I'm not the only person that feels this way 😅

you are just weird,, there's nothing cozy about silent hill
You might be right, maybe I am just weird!
