Joshua Maponga is at a cross roads, after 33 years in christian ministry, he has found himself in a place where he can't find satisfying answers to his questions. His questions stem from a life o dedication to his calling but some things remain a history.
He says God gave us brains to think and questions are a sign of a functioning brain. On this interview he tries to explain where he stands with the Bible.
Maponga feels strongly about Africa and says in his understanding, Africa plays a significant role in the Bible and prophecy, but because of how the gospel was presented by the Europeans, these African related truths are neglected.
He is calling on Africa to embrace its humanity and the knowledge available to emancipate itself from spiritual poverty it is facing.
Maponga, who also features on AmaBishop, a Moja Love production, says he is writing a book titled, The Gospel according to Maponga J and will be one African children will be reading and referring to in years to come. His message is decolonizing christianity.

I like the courage Of my brother Maponga. The only advice I can give him is that "he must not fight or be angry with his past, that will keep him attached with his oppressors. Let him find God, i.e. be spiritually intelligent. He will be free then we can come and drink from his wells of knowledge"

The word "Bible" is not the word of God. Bible is a book. Is like saying the book of Algebra is Algebra. You're misleading people my friend. You must know that book "Bible" correctly. If not you're becoming a poison for people of Africa. You can not change Africa if you don't the word of God. Jesus called himself the light of this world. Was the true light. Because John the Baptist was also a light. But not the true light. John 5:31-35
Then he I have a testimony greater than that of John. John 5:36
What testimony was that? Teach Africa to themselves. There're three kingdoms(tents). Math 17:1-4 which one is the tent of Africans? If you know nothing stop misleading my people

Ours is not to question but to reason. Question v Reasoning, two different approaches. Maybe next time try to reason with them and ask for God's grace to speak through you, rather than to make it sound like you're questioning their faith. Trust me, nobody will tolerate their faith being questioned. Also, try to understand from their perspective, they can only act/react as their convictions allow, they're convinced of their position just as you're convinced of yours. Your conviction is not more valid than theirs. I know what you're talking about, as a youth leader I used to push away a lot of friends too because of my unconventional convictions about Christian religion vis a vis Christian Faith, until I changed my approach. All thanks to guidance from God's Holy Spirit. The motive is to enlighten and win them over(becoming all things to all man that you may save some), not to make them feel stupid or condemned, right.

Yet we foolishly continue to live IGNORANTLY after having acquired so much education.
We have deeply gotten addicted to the opium called religion and it is pathetic that we can't see that it is destroying us.
How dare we throw a way the rich heritage of our mother land the most beautiful you can think of, our diverse culture and natural life, our intellectual prowess, how can we throw a way all this and follow western and eastern imported ideologies and ways of life???
Shame on us that still in the 21st century we don't know our worth.
Gold, diamonds, food...we have it all, yet look at us:
Our currency is the most devaluated, we import what to eat and wear, take loans from countries that are literally poorer than us.

The doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture is a fundamental tenet of the Christian faith. To say the Scriptures are sufficient means that the Bible is all we need to equip us for a life of faith and service. It provides a clear demonstration of God’s intention to restore the broken relationship between Himself and humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior through the gift of faith. No other writings are necessary for this good news to be understood, nor are any other writings required to equip us for a life of faith.

Exactly why we must develop the intrinsic spirit within us (God’s image) to guide us back to an understanding of the truth that has been so altered and corrupted in the extracted writings that have been allowed to be included in what is now referred to as the Bible. Only Spiritual truth which requires self development and introspection will give understanding to overcome the lies and confusion and connect each of us to God. In my humble opinion snd observation, Institutional “religion” often serves a secular god of money and control and dissuades us from the introspection and self examination of the spiritual wisdom within us that will guide us to the Creator and the expectation of us.

    Baba Maponga what an inspirer.
Along with Baba PLO Lumumba and Mama Afrikana are three of our best inspirers from home that inspire Africans to be our own selves socially politically culturally and spiritually.

In 2020, he was fired from the Seventh Day Adventist’s church (SDA) position.
Please stop learning lies from Maponga.

@@earlysda no one gets fired from a church! A church is a volunteer gathering. Unless u are agreeing that the church is actually a BUSINESS a COMPANY to be fired from. This is what people like u, do to continue this foolish brainwashing. A gathering that ant even after on how to worship,...7th day, Jehovah's witness, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Protestant, all kinds of back alley, so called churches in every African community, disturbing and dirtying the communities, and challenging each other to prove that they know how to worship than the other...so called Christians are the only gathering that are so confused, they have all kinds of 100s of denominations and trying to prove that they know God or Jesus better than the other church, competing and challenging each other! Some saying that the bible said only go to church on saturdays, another said sunday, another said everyday of the week, another said, some sh*t here and there! Why why why? What on earth are we looking for on this earth that we will do this to ourselves, instead of paying attention to our lands that we've been blessed with by God, our children's futures, and use our brains to better our existence, instead of only living for a future place that our souls are supposed to go after we have tortured our own living life that we can see and touch! He gave us brains to use to care for our lives and children's lives, he never told anyone to live in fantasy of where our "souls" is supposed to go after we are DEAD! What? Who has ever gone anywhere after death, and come back to testify on where they went after death, to make us so convinced that such a place exists! Who ever came back from death since U WERE BORN!!
