That is definitely an little-known platform. The quality of the games looks to be all over the map.

Cool Steamkey again this week, Gary. It's HOB, a nice-looking 3D adventure game from Runic Games (the Torchlight devs). Looks like a blast, cheers!
Really looking forward to spending some time with this FM Towns vid, just like the other JP home computer vids you've produced lately. It's like opening a door to another world of games. Some ports for sure, but many of them look interesting. And certainly some games I've never heard of before!

This is an interesting companion piece to the X68000 video; they both occupy similar spaces (late 80s/early-to-mid-90s) - but they both went in such different directions.
Also, the abundance of PC ports really brought back memories for me; I was a PC gamer for most of the early 90s so it was neat to see some of these games enhanced for their FM Towns release!
And of course ... the porn. So much porn. This video did not encapsulate the near literal 1/3rd of the FM Towns library that is porn...

It's interesting how many FM Towns games were just straight ports from the PC-88 and other less powerful computers that didn't take advantage of the hardware's capabilities

Great video! I would have loved to have seen the year the game was released on the system as we went through. Some great looking games here!

@@ionutdaniel133 not for me, but wikipedia says: The "FM" part of the name means "Fujitsu Micro" like their earlier products, while the "Towns" part is derived from the code name the system was assigned while in development, "Townes". This refers to Charles Townes, one of the winners of the 1964 Nobel Prize in Physics, following a custom of Fujitsu at the time to code name PC products after Nobel Prize winners. The e in "Townes" was dropped when the system went into production to make it clearer that the term was to be pronounced like the word "towns" rather than the potential "tow-nes"

Considering the power of the system, I am pretty underwhelmed by a lot of the games. Quality is all over the place and Shadow Of The Beast does not even look nearly as good as the Amiga version, yet the FM Towns should stomp it! Kind of meh.
