Don't know if you have the time to do it, but it would be great to get your review of Agricola, coming from a perspective of Family Edition. Family Edition is intended as a lighter version more suitable to new players... but is there a reason to move to the full Agricola? Most reviewers have played that one before so you're in a unique position to answer this question!

I don't know if I'll get to it... But never say never...

Sure, I know you're busy... But if you get a boring evening than maybe why not? :)

Not too many boring evenings these days, but you never know...

Personally I find the "family" Agricola more abstract and confusing. It's streamlined and less reliant on text, but it doesn't "feel" lighter when taught to new players. I say stick with the original.

Thanks for the review Cody. I too have an un-played Agricola in our collection. This family edition looks like it could be popular with our game group. Time to check the car for coins in the storage tray, under couch cushions, then the clothes drier, and take all those cola bottles back. Can't wait to dump all those coins on the flgs counter...wait we don't have a flgs. Bummer. Okay someday we'll get to play it.

If you don't have a FLGS, not to worry. If you build it, they will come...

Good point. We'll build it surrounded on 3 sides by corn fields and have Kevin Costner at the grand opening (we're both Cal Fullerton alumni). Get James Earl Jones to voice over our adds. Hey, a guy can field a dream can't he?

Really not sure why you would purchase the Family edition if you have Agricola unplayed? I've only played it a handful of times years ago and it is a wonderful game, easy to play and not too long.

Mayfair sent me the review copy.

Good point. I'll have to get our group to try Agricola and see if it's easy enough for me. I'm also wondering which would be better to introduce to those who play fewer games than I do. We host game days at schools and local libraries.

I am telling you Cody, you have a million dollar idea. You could start a new soda company. You could have different flavors. Wheat! Corn! Maybe Alfalfa sprouts. That would go good in California, they put that on everything!
Great review, I bought this a while back and have not had a chance to play it yet. I want to try it now. Maybe with dinner? A steak and potato and corn on the cob. Harvest time!

Fantastic! Better yet, why not Sheep, Boar, and Cow flavors! Yeah!

Pretty sure Cody thought he was going to review "Agricola, Master of Britain" ;)

I have played the Z-Man games edition and would note that the Mayfair Family edition has some significant similarities. I would not want to own both of the them.

I'm unfamiliar with the Z-Man Games edition, so I cannot comment.

I assume that the family edition has much less swearing and foul language than the regular Agricola...or maybe that is just the way I play...

Robbie Dupree really.. you just went down 2 notches in my hero worship. I almost never turn down a any game but never had the desire to play Agricola.

Considering your hero worship scale goes to 1,735,008, I'd say two notches isn't really that big of deal, especially since I was at 7 to start with.
